Lied that what?

Didn't you read the replies i gave chic2pimp?

How Vieri turned to Fabregas in your eyes is what you should tell us. grin

If this is not lieing,

airmark:

You are wrong bro.

Then you don't even know whose image you posted.

I don't have to explain to you how I came about Fabregas. Anyone can guess any name. I can even guess he is Nakata or Messi. It's either I'm right or wrong. In this case, my answer is wrong which isn't a crime.

The main thing is, why would you go petty to make a point. Roland got the correct answer and you boldly said he is wrong, even calling him bro. Haba airmark.

Who do I leave out between Roger Milla, George Weah, Abedi Pele and Raba Madjer? Not to mention Yekini, Samuel Eto or even Japhet N'doram.

I'm going with the ones who made the biggest impact in AFCON, World Cup and European Cup in that order.

Limited to only the players I watched

GK - Nkono (Grobelaar fought for Apartheid regime so the soil rejects him)

LB - Kwadwo Asamoah (can't think of a great LB for now)
CB - Noureddine Naybet
CB - Kalidou Koulibaly
RB - Lauren Etame

CM - Ahmed Hassan (Xavi of AFCON)
CM - Yaya Toure
AM - Abedi Pele

RW - Mohammed Salah
LW - Sadio Mane

CF - Roger Milla

If you are going strictly by the bolded, then your CF should be Samuel Eto'o not Roger Milla.

Overall though, I can't fault your line up.

Kanu is not a terrible pick but I just don’t think he was dominant enough. I personally rate Yekini above him. The kind of confidence Yekini gave Nigerian fans, and the fear he instilled in our opponents is unparalleled in our history.

Well sha, to each his own.

Personally I rate Kanu slightly above Yekini.

Don't get me wrong. Yekini is a massive massive player as far as Nigeria football is concerned. A beast of a player. A legend.

But Kanu, for me, is the best player Nigeria ever produced.

What is Etos impact in World Cup compared to Milla?

You missed the late 1980s where Milla was the beast of AFCON by the way.

If we're talking AFCON, I even rate Patrick Mboma way higher than Eto sef.

Kanu does not have a single goal in AFCON despite attending like 5 tournaments.

Kanu is a nobody in AFCON

Leaving out Abedi Pele from any African greatest line up should be considered a criminal offense.

You listed 3 categories AFCON, World Cup and European Cup.

If Milla top Eto'o in World Cup, what about AFCON and European Cup?

Edit

I was privileged to watch both players play. Roger Milla is no doubt an African legend. But let's not allow nostalgia affect our thinking.

Milla won 2 AFCON, same with Eto'o.

Milla was top scorer in 2 editions of AFCON, same with Eto'o.

But

Eto'o is the top scorer in Cameroon football history (same country with Milla)

Eto'o is AFCON all time top scorer.

This is just in the AFCON category o.

If we are to go further and check their individual awards in Europe..... You know who will come tops.

Raba Madjer can arguably take his spot in a straight fight. I went with Abedi but it's close between them.

For Olympics which is an age grade competition.

You don't see anyone harping on Mboma for what he did in Sydney 2000.

Let's be honest, Kanu is an AFCON flop. There are dozens of African strikers to be rated above Kanu who we wouldn't even mention but were AFCON greats like Titi Camara of Guinea, Michel Bassole of Ivory Coast or Coulibaly of Mali. We haven't even come to Kalusha Bwalya, Hossam Hassan, Patrick Mboma and co.

As much as I liked Kanu in the 1990s, his 2000s performance in Afcon is a big scar on his record.

Cameroonians won't even place Eto above Mboma during their great run in the early 2000s, talkless of Milla.

I mentioned Kanu's name in reply to Afrodoc2 question of who is the Nigerian best of all time.

I'm not stupid to start mentioning Kanu among the continents best. I'm not that stupid.

Ok bros. Yekini belongs in that conversation for African best 11 and Kanu doesn't, so they can't be compared on an NT level.

I think Afrodoc summarised perfectly when he said "The kind of confidence Yekini gave Nigerian fans, and the fear he instilled in our opponents is unparalleled in our history." You have to be alive at that time to have this feeling. Infact starting with Yeking is like starting a game 1 goal up.

Compare the feeling of Yeking who you already know.has scored before the game begins,.compared to Kanu who you already know will not score before the game begins, for 5 straight AFCON tournaments.

Nothing to do with nostalgia.

Just because Eto played 17 years for Cameroon is what gives him these records.

In the glory years of 1998 to 2002 which is what matters he was a junior boy in Cameroon compared to Patrick Mboma who was the mover and shaker, the Yekini of his time and every team feared Mboma, not Eto. Mboma scored 4 goals in Olympics, Eto scored 1 for example.

In the mid-to-late 80s you can ask Nigerians who they dread facing in AFCON and they will tell you Milla. Nigeria always reach semifinal or final in the late 80s only to be knocked out by Milla.

Roger Milla had 43 goals in 77 games for Cameroon
Patrick Mboma had 33 goals in 57 games
Samuel Eto had 56 goals in 118 games

I believe some arithmetic can point you to the senior men from the above.

World Cup, Roger Milla is undisputed.

I try not to use club form to judge players from different generations as European acceptance of African players, and African cultural adaptation to the highest level of European football is a recent phenomenon that only really started accelerating in the mid.1990s and only became established from the mid-2000s. The best African player during Roger Millas era could be playing in Vitoria Setubal or RKC Waalwijk. It was the likes of Arsene Wenger who started to promote African players in Europe in the 1990s and demand decent pay for them starting with George Weah. So just because Eto played for Barca while Milla played for lesser sides, I will use their Cameroon exploits only to compare them within an African context.

Can Yekini make your top 3 African all time best player? What of top 5?

Yekini vs Drogba, who will you pick? What of Yekini vs Eto'o?

Kanu is not in the conversation for the 11th 11. Not where Patrick Mboma, Bwalya, Hossam Hassan, Titi Camara and Drogba etc are yet to be accounted for.

Drogba is well behind Yekini in AFCON pecking order. This is someone who couldn't win AFCON with a stacked Ivory Coast team and even missed a penalty to deny his team the win. Soon as he retired, they then won.

Is longevity not a quality of a football great? Which football legend doesn't dominate the sport for long period? Someone played for 17 years and dominated for 10 to 15 of those years and all you could say is "just because..."? Haba...

Prime Eto'o is a terror to opposing players and fans sef. Even to us Nigerians.

Mboma scoring 4 goals in Sydney against Eto'o 1? Isn't it a competition you called "age grade"? Mboma even went to the competition as an over age player... Why won't he perform in the midst of his juniors?

Bros numbers don't lie.

Eto'o is the greatest Cameroon player. It's just unfortunate Milla and Mboma are Cameroonians.
