All i can perceive from the op is a low esteemed man that want to show that the yorubas can fight a war. But i want to ask u op, so the Yorubas fought this war and won, and how come the fulanis colonised the Yorubas and even rule as Emirs in the Yoruba kingdoms? How come some Yorubas are muslims? Now let me tell u op something u don't knw, the Fulanis fought and defeated u people, thats why they decleared Kwara as an emirate to remind the Afonjas that they are ur masters, thats why they colonised you people and brought islam into Yoruba land. Now let me tell u more about the Biafrans. The Fulanis came to fight us but we propelled them back immediately they tried crossing the boundry of Nigeria and Biafra through Benue state. Because the Biafrians are Umu Chukwu Okike Abiama. I hope the moderators don't delete this my post. 6 Likes |

LarryBee1k: THE RESPECT THEY DESERVE FOR SAVING THE WORLD FROM THIS VIRUS OR FOR BUILDING A LIVING BEING? THIS IS SO FUNNY. HOW HAVE WE BENEFITTED FROM A WAR FOUGHT 100 YEARS AGO TO RESPECT THE YORUBAS? THIS IS LIKE SAYING I SHOULD RESPECT MY DOG FOR HUNTING A LIZARD. WHAT HAVE I GAINED FROM THIS? 2 Likes |

LarryBee1k: THE IGBOS ARE YET TO "DEMAND RESPECT" FROM RANDOM PEOPLE OGA. SOME NATIONS ARE RESPECTED FOR WARS BECAUSE OF THE BENEFITS FROM THEIR EXPLOITS. YOU SAYING YORUBAS DESERVE RESPECT FOR THEIR WARS IS BULLSHIT. THERE'S HARDLY ANY NATION ON EARTH THAT HAS NOT FOUGHT A WAR. IF THERE'S NOTHING IN THIS CENTURY THAT WE'RE ENJOYING FROM YOUR WAR FOUGHT OVER 200 YEARS AGO, WHY SHOULD WE "RESPECT" YORUBAS FOR SUCH? I'M PRETTY SURE THEIR WARS WERE MOSTLY ABOUT WOMEN OR FARMS OF EWEDU LEAVES AND NOTHING ELSE. YOU EITHER REPHRASE THAT POST OR HAVE MORE MENTIONS REGARDING WHY WE SHOULD RESPECT YOU FOR SIMPLY DEFENDING YOUR OWN TERRITORY AGAINST YOUR WEAKASS NEIGHBORS. 3 Likes |

YOUR DISDAIN FOR IGBOS IS THE REASON YOU EVEN MENTIONED THEM IN REPLY TO ME INSTEAD OF MENTIONING TIVS, HAUSAS, OR GHANAIANS. YOU ALREADY SEE THEM AS YOUR WORST ENEMY. THIS ALREADY REVEALS THE NATURE OF THE PERSON I'M EVEN TRADING ALPHABETS WITH. 2 Likes |

According former head of state General Ibrahim Badamosi Babaginda he said and I quote " If I am sleeping and wake to hear a Yoruba man beating drums of war, I will just go back to my sleep". Not everything is worth debating and wasting of our precious time. 2 Likes |

Oharina:Which yeye upper Iweka history be this ?? What are the Yoruba kingdoms with emirs ?? Okun , Ijesha , Ijebu , Egba , Ife..which one exactly ?? And Islam has been in Yorubaland even before Dan Fodio was born . Islam is known amongst the Yorubas as "Esin Imale" which means the religion of the Malians . Islam infiltrated Yorubaland as a result of the interaction between the old Oyo empire and the Malian traders . Did Dan Fodio bring Islam to Bornu too ?? Dude , please get a proper book and read. Read about the battle of Osogbo . Ilorin was an outpost of the Oyo empire . Ilorin was not even lost by conquest but due to Afonja's treacherous ways . Afonja was the generalisimo of the Oyo army . In ancient time, the emperor and his general must not live in the same town . Afonja wanted independence from Oyo . He did this in collaboration with the Fulani Islamic scholars he had been accommodating and some Hausa slaves . Eventually, he paid the supreme price for his treachery against his emperor because those he accommodated back stabbed him too and removed him in a palace coup . There was no war whatsoever between Oyo and Fulani that directly led to the loss of Ilorin . Go figure !! Infact prominent Yorubas in Ilorin like Solagberu who had converted to Islam in Ilorin didn't even step in to help Afonja . Ilorin was a funny case . And today except for the bed sheet tying Emir ( who himself is a mixed Yoruba/Fulani) , there's nothing suggestive of Fulani culture in Ilorin . They speak Yoruba , they bear Yoruba names , They eat Amala ati Gbegiri like every other Yoruba towns . Ilorin is a very funny case honestly . And lastly , the Yorubas firmly control the economy and politics of not only Ilorin but the whole of Kwara state . Infact a non Yoruba has a better and realistic chance of being a proficient learner of the Yoruba culture and language in Ilorin than say Lagos . PS: Being a Muslim or Christian mean nothing . Infact , according to a thread by one Nowenuse guy here , Ilorin is made up of more than 40% christians. So much for an emirate The only striking thing about Ilorin is the fact that the place is the home to Yoruba Islamic fundamentalists . Oyo and Lagos arguable have more Muslim Yorubas than Kwara sef 3 Likes 1 Share |

Covidodo: @bolded. Ogbeni, don't quote me in your wahala na. Zaria is not just an Emirate, but it is a historical Hausa kingdom for about a millenium, yet are Christians not dominating Muslims in parts of Zaria? Yola that is an Emirate and the biggest of all pure fulani Emirates in West Africa, is it not 50-50 between Christians & Muslims? The fraudulent Emirate Suleja now has more Christians than Muslims in that town. An Emirate is just a pointer to the historical ownership of a place to the Caliphate, nothing more nothing else. Besides I don't know why Yorubas always brag about Ilorin being a Yoruba language city, hence it cannot have Fulani elements. You people are yet to understand how the fulanis operate. Make una wait make I go bring that document about Ilorin that someone here challenged me to bring. Oh, so this is even another thread. I thought it was the other one. 1 Like |

Nowenuse: Ilorin is not just Yoruba in language . The culture in Ilorin is entirely Yoruba and that is a fact . The full O to ge would eventually reach there and that is a matter of time . PS: l merely called you because of your expertise on religious demographics of the North but this one that you are starting to feel yourself . No vex. I no go call you another time 1 Like |

LarryBee1k: I ain't arguing but this is based on fact. You don't know your history then. As the Fulani's were crossing to take over Kwara state the emir of the borno caliphate (north east) was also doing the same. There is a saying that Usman Dan fodio claimed that all the lands down to the ocean were for him, so they had to conquer it. Truth be told, the Igbo's had no part, because they didn't smelll the Fulani's and that's because we thank our good neighborly warriors the Benue people. This people were strong and good arrow men, the armies of Dan fodio fought with swords and spears but the Benue people fought with long-distance arrows. With that they couldn't penetrate, rather in which i presume, made friendly relationships with the Benue people up north, in which you can find a handful of them. |
