If govt puts lockdown on customs that will be suicidal, with the current stats of crude oil

You are correct.

Hello people, I'd like to know if it's possible to transport cars from lagos to port harcourt in this lockdown. And for the people that have transported cars purchased from amdman to other state, is it at the port that you got ur plate number and a driver that took it to your preferred state, or you arranged it before time?
Thanks for your response in advance

How? Can you obtain number plates for Delta say, from Kebbi or is it only from Lagos? Or again, is it forgery?

Foxie:
On the contrary, I think it's best to get the number plate in Lagos before it hits the road, this is because once the police gets an inkling that it's a new car, they want to collect 'their share' and carrying the car without a number plate will suggest to all and sundry on the highway that it's a new car.

If he/she insists on getting a port Harcourt number plate, he/she can also get it in Lagos too.

From personal experience, just obtain change N200 of about 20k for tithes (Customs) and offering (police and army).
The interstate drivers does exactly that. I made friends en route Edo state when we sometimes had to insist in solidarity that we wouldn't pay more than N200 per check point when the police started proving stubborn (from the Edo state axis). I reached home later than expected due to that. But it is an experience worth it.
Nigeria finally, is a zoo.

hypernikao:
Thanks for the input everyone, I appreciate. It seems like one can't beat police check points with a new plate, but I think these drivers that transport cars interstate know how to settle them. Na to channel my energy to getting a reliable driver, your recommendations will be well received.

Bros, you will pay. No,
You go pay.
Nor be police?
They won't even ask you anything, they'll just stretch their hands like Moses towards the Red Sea.
Last last you go pay. Except you nor want move your car.

Mayor555:

Why should I give police money when I have my Driver's license and I didn't steal the vehicle.
Police have nothing on me driving a toks. Weytin dem wan ask? But with plate number they'll always want to crosscheck papers, and asumming he gave the car to someone to bring down to port Harcourt, they'll always ask for the owner of the car, just because the names on the Driver's license and vehicle registration are not corresponding.

Baba, taking it to port without registration is the best....

But for custom, you register o, you no register o, so far the car is fine, them go stop you.

Bros, when you reach there make you speak all these grammar for them make you for know how many days you go take reach house.
I took a bundle of N200 notes (20k) what was left with me when I got home can't be more than 3k. Plus all my grammar and insistence on not paying more than 2H at any spot.
When them frustrate you eh, na you go first dey stretch out your hands of fellowship when you see the next ones.
One even made a sneaky comment about we 'standing in a lonely bush area'.
You go give yourself brain afterwards.

replete:

It's a simple thing my brother; why do you have to give Police money when you have your papers
Even custom officers just want to be sure the car was'nt smuggled. So why the fear when you paid all duties.

Thank you my brother. Customs = N1,000, Police & Army =N200. You can haggle with Customs sometimes to pay less though. I paid N600, N800 and N900 on different spots, the rest na N1,000 pere.

Nope, just received it from Amdman the previous day, hence there's no way it could have been registered.

Okay

Mayor555 argument was that if the car is registered, he does not pay anything to police officers as long as every document is valid

I think you guys are misquoting him

Please kindly note that there is no uniform price for tokunbo vehicles. Owners sell at there desire price, so OP will sell according to how much he got it from seller. This year alone I have bought 3 Highlander from different owners and bought for $4000, $5500 and $7000 respectively and i sold each according to how much I bought.

Bros it's same thing. Those guys are there just for Tokunbo cars. They can sniff it off 1km away and use other vehicles to obstruct your movement.
While I was haggling price with them, you'd hear one tell the guy stopping vehicles "see that red Highlander wey dey back of the so so so...".
It's a racket.

Hello guys, please is it possible to search within a thread?

Yes. Say I want to search for this keyword ‘Pontiac Vibe’ on this thread, all I need to do is use a query.

Copy the query below and search on Google.

site:nairaland.com intitle:"N1,200,000 or Less Tokunbo Cars" Pontiac Vibe

What I’m doing is instructing Google to search only Nairaland.com for only threads with that title, and that also contains the keyword I’m looking for.

Putting the title or what you are searching for in quotation means you are looking for that exact phrase.

Also, you would only be able to see threads that are indexed in Google Search. For busy sites like NL, it takes a few minutes for new pages to appear on Google so you have nothing to worry about.

I hope this helps.
