By the time they realise, Nigeria will be the one selling their Bonds

Time to shake up little India's financial scene. grin

We are starting small in East Africa in order to fly under the radar of the dumb Kenyan bankers. By the time they realize what we are doing, it would be too late for them.

I wonder what the Ghanaians are waiting for. Kenya is easy picking. grin

And yet we never cashed a coin of 1.6B dollar IMF gave us. The reason - unlike Ghana - we don't and didn't have BOP problems -aka - BANKRUPTCY,

No we didn't. We got a standby facility that we NEVER took a cent. The facility lapsed when we didn't cash it. Are you that daft? I mean if you have overdraft credit line of 1.6B - and you don't actually apply for overdraft - how does that become borrowing.

We owe IMF - mearge 250M dollars - that we can repay any day - if they were to bring their Ghanasque colonial tendencies here.

you don't even have a million dollars to provide clean water for Nairobians

where would you get 250 mil from

Nigerian banks are getting fleeced by Kenyan small banks.

As you enter Kenya - a very competitive market where you;ll never see any ROI - Kenyan banks are entering virgin profitable markets like DRC, Ethiopia, Mozambique, etc.

Look at Equity for example - The earnings were boosted by its subsidiaries in Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Rwanda whose combined net profit of Sh3.1 billion represented an 18 per cent increase from the year before

And yet they haven't surfaced since 1990s. Have trade surplus is nothing when CEDIS is annually depreciating like Zim dollar or Zambian Kwacha. There lies your problem. You're are not going to fix BOPs problem with a currency that tanks annually. It's a waste of time. Ask Zimbabwe.

Ghana best bet is to adopt the ECOWAS currency smiley and forget about the CEDIS. Or well ask the French to allow you to use their FRANC...like the rest of your neighborhood.

Are you this dumb? grin You negotiated for that lian facility. It wasn't offered. The same way you are still begging them for the facility 4 years on, today. grin

And that is why the IMF has forced you to introduce VAT of up to 16% on your people. Just wait, harsher measures are going to be forced on you by the same IMF sooner than you think.

Having a trade surplus is everything

The Cedi need to fall in it exchange value because it is too valuable

Your trade deficit is why every year you have to borrow from IMF and WB

How can it be valuable when you decided to peg it to the dollar. CEDIS before that was like Kwacha or Zim. Use to exchange I think 50,000 cedis for a dollar.

You demonetized...and started afresh 10yrs ago...1 cedi 1 dollar grin

And now it's depreciated 600%.....annually it does like 50% depreciation.

IMF are going to be your buddies for the next 100yrs.

Standby facility is nice to have - for situations like COVID-19 - but we are not desperate like Ghana and we never cashed the previous one. It's just good for market sentiments - so forex dealers are aware our central banks - have 1.5B dollars they can play the market and protect Kshs.

In the meantime - how is Naira doing with Oil massacre. Last I checked the black-market rate was inching toward 500

The fact that we can depreciate our Cedi is a plus for us

As our economy becomes more self-reliant
Our Import bill keep reducing as we are producing more to serve our economy.

A depreciated Cedi makes Ghanaian goods more competitive on our market and foreign good more expensive
Thereby creating opportunities for our to invest and make money.

You're not China exporting manufactured goods - you're mini-Nigeria selling gold, oil, and aluminium - and maybe cocoa. You cannot increase the export of GOLD by lowering the CEDIS grin grin grin

Don't try to run before you can crawl.

Start by managing your ever failing CEDIS - a sister to Zambian Kwacha.

And IMF monkey might get off your back.

Btw how is your Eurobond interest?

You didn't cash it because you made yourself a debt colony of China. You are borrowed to the eyeballs and the day of reckoning draws nigh. Your foreign reserve is down to an alarming level, your tourism is gone for now, your foreign remittances down, your agriculture output down. You will soon cash that loan. wink

In the meantime, how are you coping with the locust invasion? I heard this new wave is bigger and the insects are resistant to your chemicals. Plus your government is unprepared.
