@Legendhero, forgiveness, Iamgrey5, Covidodo, Ayekotoo, Barbilius, candidtalk

When we were arguing over Ilorin, One of u dared me to prove that Hausa language was once used as the language of senior education in Ilorin.

Look below. I attached 3 screenshots from the first colonial document used to classify & record all ethnicities and provinces of Northern Nigeria, written around 1900-1910.
It is now a compiled book called NOTES ON THE TRIBES, PROVINCES and EMIRATES OF NORTHERN NIGERIA PROVINCE.

It was compiled by the Temple brothers, who were British colonialists in charge of the administration of the Northern Nigerian region.

I want you guys to read through these 3 screenshots and u will see where

1) It was said that Ilorin urban had 2k people as that time and the majority of ethnicities listed there were Non-Yorubas.

2) Yoruba language was used for Junior education while Hausa language for advanced education in Ilorin

3) All the traditional rulers from the Igbominas, Igbolos & Ekiti speakers were appointed and confirmed by the Emir. So, not just Ilorin but the whole of Kwara was under the direct rulership of the Emirate.

See, let me clear you Yorubas on one thing, cos I noticed how many of you go about saying that the Emirate in Ilorin does not change anything since even the Emir and everyone else in Ilorin speaks Yoruba as their mother tongue.

Ilorin is not a unique case! Nupe land & Hausa land are both Emirates under the Sultanates (ruled by Fulanis), and almost everyone in Nupeland & Hausaland speaks only Nupe & Hausa (including the Emirs).

It is only the NE that the fulanis managed to retain their native Fulfude language because the tribes there are smaller minority tribes who did not have the numbers of speakers to absorb the Fulani settlers.

Fulanis conquer you and do not care whether they loose their language to yours or not. The only thing they care about is retaining the rulership of your land!

Then they try to create a form of caste system where only those with fulani heritage become the elites of that society.
Mind u, fulani heritage does not mean one who speaks fulani language. It means one who speaks Hausa, Nupe or Yoruba language but has full or partial fulani ancestors.

This has worked perfectly in Hausa land and to an extent Nupeland, it was working in Ilorin, but due to the exposure of Western education in Yorubaland, the aim was defeated.
That of Ilorin can be seen where half or majority of the elites from Ilorin are of Fulani ancestry and these can be clearly seen from their family names e.g SARAKI, BELGORE, GAMBARI, BARAJE, BELLO e.t.c

So, you guys should stop claiming that the Emirate in Ilorin is weak because nobody speaks fulani language, that is ignorance!

Nobody in Bida, Lapai, Agaie, Patigi or any of the Nupe towns speak Fulfude.
Nupes do not even understand Hausa language as a 2nd language unlike Gbagyis, Southern Kaduna, Plateau people. Any Nupe you see speaking Hausa learnt it by living in Minna, Jos, Zaria, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi e.t.c

So, even Hausa settlers in Bida have to learn Nupe language in order to survive same way they learn Yoruba in Ilorin. However, this does not change the fact that majority of the royal families and elites among the Nupes are of FULANI ANCESTRY, and they know themselves, inspire of their mother tongue being Nupe!

Today, more than 10 million fulani who live in the NW claim to be ethnic fulani but they cannot alter a word of Fulfude. Their language & Culture is HAUSA! e.g the Buharis, the Lamidos, Shagaris, Yar'aduas et all. None of them can speak a word of Fulfude or know anything about fulani Culture. This is why they are called HAUSANIZED FULANIS.
The same way dozens of families and thousands of people in Ilorin are YORUBANIZED FULANIS.

So, Yoruba language displaced Fulfude & Hausa language in Ilorin not up to 100 years ago, but it did not make all the Hausa fulanis there disappear.
These Hausa fulanis and their descendants who now speak only Yoruba in Ilorin are the majority of the muslim extremists you have today in Ilorin.

Fulanis conquer a people and try to integrate with them in order to avoid being revolted against in the future.
They adopt the language of their hosts and intermarry from their hosts. That is why almost all the fulani royal families in Nigeria have Hausa, Yoruba, Nupe, Bariba, Chamba, Jukun, e.t.c wives depending on the area they settled.

Thank u for your time smiley

you are not making any sense, learn to let go and stop vanishing into thin air only to come back to contradict yourself. Fulanis are very proud people and will not forgo their language, heritage and identity just like that. There are so many strong adherents of islam across SW cities, so does that make them all extremists? stop being a comedian here, Ilorin is not part of Fulani land. You can take a trip to Ilorin with all these info of yours and see if you will not lynched, rubbish. That your land is conquered does not mean everyone else is. is there any war in Ilorin like your place to show that some people are struggling with their hosts for domination? abeg go siddon

Diiet:

Before this thread I've seen some of your anti Yoruba posts on this forum so all you've done here is no surprise to me. The only suprise I've had so far reading your posts is when you said many of your people share same view with you about my tribe. That statement alone is an eye opener to me, cos I can't believe that my tribe is not in the good book of a group of people I'm always hoping and praying that someday God would liberate them from the snare of fowler of the barbaric fulani herdmen killing them in their ancestral land. Not saying this for your aproval or whatever but I once shed tears for your people when I saw gory pics of their corps, how can such group of people now be hating on my people when there had never been any known conflict between us.I only hope that what we get to read about our respective tribes won't turn us to heartless human beings, what we write on here have consequences that go beyond internet.
About the secession group you said you are planing to float by next year I realy hope you stick by your words so that some of us who read your posts would know that you are not an empty vessel, because honestly this is what I think you are, do not also forget the crops you planed exporting to Europe or America. When you begin these please remember to update us on Nairaland. Thanks!

Look below, I attached 4 pictures of an educational charity project that my group carried out 2 months ago in Kaduna. I would have posted the picture of me addressing the students & staff of the school, but nairaland is a faceless forum.

My group donated dozens of desks to a Secondary school in Kaduna where hundreds of Students sit down on the ground to learn cry
I singlehandedly sponsored the cost of that project and it was worth more than 200k.

So, the fact that all of us are joking with each other here on nairaland does not mean that we are the same.

If not for this stupid & useless coronavirus epidemic, we were supposed to carry out more and more projects!
So give me some months after the epidemic and I will tag you and keep tagging you.

2ndly, my people don't hate Yorubas. My own views about Yorubas are more extreme cos I know u guys and the way u operate better, since I have lived in the south more and I am a nationalist for my people.
However, as time goes by and my people start working in alliance with the Igbos, we may start having clash of interests with you Yorubas.

And just like I told Legendhero, Covidodo, forgiveness and all the Yorubas here, thank you guys for your sympathy towards us, but I don't think we really need sympathy.
Sympathy does not help anyone in the real sense. And I don't see the sympathy of you Yorubas to mean anything. Sympathy for us, yet politcally you supported the Hausa fulanis who you know are against us. Please keep that hypocrital sympathy to yourself.

Why are these businesses not located or sited in your states abi region? Why? Why are your own people running away from your towns and villages?

Why?

Because they know what we all know, they know perfectly well that your entire region is unproductive, they know that you have poor marker and consumers with little or no buying power, they know that you lack quality and educated manpower to sustain credible businesses, this is the reason why serious businesses and multinational investors stay away from the SE and this is even on top of your hateful, hostile and unwelcome attitude.

Lack of serious businesses and investments means lack of jobs, this is the reason why generation after generations of SE people must leave the SE and migrate to the SW or the North for their daily bread.

This is not even a new phenomenon, it's been going on before 1960 and it's still going on till this very second.

Jokes apart, I really do feel sorry for you sometimes.

@Nowenuse

So now that you have been defeated on the Jos vs Ibadan front, you have simply shifted goal post to something you are more comfortable with. cheesy

Ok here we go

1) It was said that Ilorin urban had 2k people as that time and the majority of ethnicities listed there were Non-Yorubas.

2) Yoruba language was used for Junior education while Hausa language for advanced education in Ilorin

3) All the traditional rulers from the Igbominas, Igbolos & Ekiti speakers were appointed and confirmed by the Emir. So, not just Ilorin but the whole of Kwara was under the direct rulership of the Emirate.

@ your first point

The argument you made that other tribes had to learn Yoruba in other to survive in Ilorin emirate counters your first point.

Shouldn't it have been the other way around, considering the non Yorubas were more than the Yorubas at that point smiley

In addition, the writer of the article you referenced at no point stated that the numbers of non Yorubas in Ilorin were more than Yorubas in Ilorin.

@ your second point,

There was never a point in the article that the writer claimed that the kings of the igbomina and Ekitis were appointed by the Emir smiley

Don't forget Ilorin emirare is not Kwara state

@ your third point counters your first point as well. Ilorin was incorporated into northern Nigeria in 1900 and education started in 1920.

In most parts of northern Nigeria, Hausa was used as a means of communication in education.

Hausa was used to teach senior officers who were the officers of the Emirates, while the Yoruba language was used for majority of the population who were peasant as at the time.

And once again! please take note that Ilorin emirate is not Kwara state smiley

Even majority of Kogi state today were originally part of Kwara state.

His whole submissions were full of contradictions

He claimed non Yorubas were majority in Ilorin emirate and Yorubas were minority

Nonetheless, he still claimed in the same breath that a majority (non Yorubas) leant the language of minority(Yorubas) for survival cheesy

Emotional Bull crap.

I will give you an assignment today.

in the history of Nigeria, who has worked most for the interest of Hausa/Fulani more than the igbos in Nigeria? cheesy

Even in the last election, igbos queue behind a Fulani Muslim in Atiku.

Benue with a large percentage of Christians and an integral part of your utopian middle belt republic gave Buhari their votes in 2015 and gave him over 35% in 2019 despite the large killings going in there

Listen! Yorubas don't need your goodwill to survive in Nigeria, your region is the least important to the destiny of the Yorubas in Nigeria.

It is even an insult for you to put mouth in the affairs of the Yoruba people. cheesy

Leemao ... You are just being clever by half .

You are the ignorant one . You are so full of contradictions .

He even said 'everyone' in Kano use Kano as their state of origin. So the numerous Southerners in Kano also fill Kano as their state of origin cheesy grin.

Or the Southerners in Kano don't write jamb

Nah you fill all the jamb forms for Kano abi..
Stop making sweeping claims without statistical evidence . This is not beer parlour

Delta and Oyo are definitely more populated than Imo .. So , why is Imo topping ?
Why is Edo on the list despite being one of the less populous states in Nigeria ??

Delta is below Ogun and Osun on the Jamb list . And Delta is more populous than the 2 states .
Rivers is not even top 10 on the Jamb list.

Going by your pseudo logic of population , Imo should never be the top state .

Lastly, according to the 2006 census, the difference between the population of Osun and Plateau is not even up to 250, 000.
And Osun is 3rd on that Jamb list .

Who pass you don pass you abeg cheesy

Keep shifting goal post.

Don't be dumb.

I said every Hausa fulani & northern muslims who live in Kano use Kano state of origin and that is the reason why Kano state is very high.

Look at the figures of Katsina state that have the highest population of Indigenes in Hausa land and tell me how many it is.

Gosh are Yoruba people so full of ignorance or what?

These Jamb statistics are based on indigeneship and not the population of states!

Delta state may be more populated than Osun & Ogun states, but the question is, DOES DELTA HAVE MORE INDIGENES THAN OGUN & OSUN STATE?

Due to the big & cosmopolitan nature of Jos, we have up to 1 million settlers (half of the city's population). How many settlers does Osun has?

You are talking about IMO, do u know that Imo state has the highest population of Indigenes in Igbo land?

The list is fvcking based on indigeneship and not the population of a state.
If u want to argue, why are Lagos & FCT very very low in spite of their large educated urban population?

You people should stop disgracing Awo free education here on nairaland.

Let me make something abundantly clear .

This is 2020 and the Yoruba Nation would never be blackmailed for our political choices again .

For almost 40years, the Yorubas played opposition politics untill 1999 when the death of Abiola and NADECO ushered us into the mainstream of Nigerian politics.

Infact we were called perpetual cry babies of Nigerian politics because we were always in the opposition. ( The great Obafemi Awolowo who is arguably the greatest Yoruba man in the history of Nigeria opposed the Hausa/Fulani untill his demise ) .
From the 1959 elections till the botched 1993 general elections , my forebears were in perpetual opposition to the Fulani hegemony politically .
Infact , Ladoke Akintola , a former premier of the defunct Western region became an enemy of his people due to his purported alliance with the core North . Today , the only thing left of the name Ladoke Akintola is the state owned university in Ogbomoso .

https://www.nairaland.com/695854/neither-speakership-nor-chairmanship-just#8562123

Go through that link and see that even as recent as 2011, we were in the political wilderness lamenting ( for a lack of better word)

Did the Hausa/Fulani start being your enemies in 2019 ?? Because the last time I checked the whole of the North bar Nassarawa and Taraba soundly rejected a Christian Minority from the ND and instead voted overwhelmingly for the Fulani Muslim Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 general elections.

From 2007 till date ( over 12years ) , no Igbo man ( a majority tribe ) has been in the first 4 positions in this country while Northern minority Christians like Mark and Yakubu Dogara have been senate president and Speaker within that same period . ( I intentionally
Skipped Danjuma and Jack Gowon ).

Don't you think these situations were made possible as a result of the machinations of the Hausa/Fulani Muslim you always berate albeit hypocritically .

Ironically , many Northern minorities hold important positions in ACF and even parrot the born to rule agenda of the Hausa/Fulani more than the scions of Dan Fodio .
For example , Audu Ogbe, a Northern Christian was just elected to lead the Arewa consultative Forum .

Don't you think your so called disdain for the Hausa/Fulani is a bit hypocritical because what happens on the ground ( outside Nairaland) is totally different from the picture you always paint here ??

Perhaps the love-hate relationship between the Northern minorities and the Hausa/Fulani is too complicated for a bloody Southerner like me to understand grin cheesy

Nigeria is a jungle and it would take more than the cries of a hypocrite to set things right .

Conclusively, the great Yorubas are in no way scared of you and your folks as you are in no way a threat to our aspirations in every ramifications ( Politically , Educationally , Economically or Culturally ) .
