Ken006: The M16 first came out in the early 60's,however in its current multi faceted modernised format is it better than than the AK47❓ It's a matter of debate it has less recoil and is far more accurate with a longer effective range. But it's not as resilient as the AK47 and or reliable and needs too much TLC. However there are so many different licensed and unlicensed makers of the AK 47 and as such there are huge disparities in quality. |

Ken006:In this picture, and the subsequent ones posted, there are those without body armour And u know, some people dont see helmet as a real protection, rather an additional weight to the head.. And beside, we see pictures of Nigerian soldier equipped with helm and vest when goin on op. Sometimes it not the military inadequacies when u see soldier not in helm or vest, it soldiers choice.. after having patrolled for hours kitted without contact, u get tempted to remove the load 3 Likes |

I quite recently put in a fairly substantive post on this subject of UAV, but it seems to have gone missing. That's a first for me. I have often said the first casualty of war is the TRUTH. Versions of the truth to suit each party become widespread and very difficult to corroborate. More so when you don't have independent unrestricted news media covering events sometimes live. Drones, UAV'S are shot down all the time it is a contest between air defences counter technologies and the capacity of the enemy. So which is the best UAV it's a question of who your enemy is. In the case of Nigeria, Boko is a rag tag army without the capacity to hit a UAV particularly one flying above 5k feet. You probably can't see it or even hear it. The UAV war is really a technology war played out on essentially PS4 consoles, sometimes 000,s of miles from the actual battlefield. It's almost virtual but with a real life impact. So as much as we like to rubbish keyboard warriors and game players. These are the nerds being recruited for the next level of modern warfare. FYI information before you even fire a ATGM hand held or otherwise system you will spend hours on a console same thing for tank commanders. The amount of computer based simulation for combatants these days is astounding. Again l admit to complete ignorance as to the training methodology in the Nigerian armed forces. The British and American yes so forgive my latent bias. Attached a few reports on UAV in Libya according to USA, UAE and Egypt supported Haftar they have shot down 50 Turkish UAV"s. Who will you believe, like l said first casualty of any war is the TRUTH. Which means you have to dig deep to find it, if you or anybody really wants the truth. And many people just want the fantasy not the bitter painful truth. 4 Likes

What baffles me each time I go through this thread and the other is the audacity with which people who have zero idea or knowledge about military operations give their ill thought out, half baked opinions about military issues. I can never understand how people who can’t even say properly what a rifle is, think they know better than a commander, on the field, with several years of experience in combat, all from a very short video shot from one angle. How do you even do this? 8 Likes 1 Share |

SerikinGamo:they are people who are knowledgeable about military doctrines and tactics, but never served. That doesn't make them a whimp. We live in a global age, where informations are readily available online, and on books. Alot seem to make misguided statements, that doesn't mean they are not intelligent contributions amongst some of them. So if a military commander "FUps" especially here in Nigeria where we see a lot of wrongs. It's only proper those "FUps" are addressed. 13 Likes 2 Shares |

One was even claiming he's a MPhil holder, like that means he now knows how to Properly carry out operations plus, he now understands Soldiers reactions and actions on the battlefield... KingAzubuike: Very pertinent question, the narrative from our NA is predominantly reactive not proactive. As a consequence we seem to have a defensive posture always repelling. However, to some asking that question in itself is unpatriotic as you will come to notice. But please keep asking the right questions that see through haze of emotive bias. 1 Like |

SerikinGamo: As a man thinketh so he is. You have made a very wide assumption based on what , your own self birthed assumptions. First of all everybody is largely anonymous on this thread so you have no idea about anybody's background, knowledge base and transferable skill set in reality. If you do not know , talk for yourself not anybody else. As they say "Ignorance is bliss" You can have several decades of long standing ineptitude and incompetence that doesn't by longevity transfer to knowledge and outstanding ability, because you have the designation of commander. This more true of very tribalised, politicized garnished with nepotism armed forces as we have in most African nations. My two pennies. 4 Likes |

Nigeria has done a more sufficient job at containing BokoHarem than NATO has done at containing Al Qaeda in the Middle East which has spread like wildfire. Not to mention BokoHarem is rated a more dangerous group. The fact of the matter is If BokoHarem had spawned or set there primary sites on any other nation within Africa with the exception of maybe South Africa, Egypt, or Algeria that nation would have been overrun and decimated by the end of that year; some month. 4 Likes 2 Shares
