Sometimes this growth rate does not really make a difference. seychelles does not grow above 3 percent for the past three year, yet it is more advanced than many nation growing with 8 percent. development is about general well being of the populace just because money is not exchanging hands does not mean the country is doing poorly.

GDP takes the breakdown of the huge economic activity and portrays it as economic gain, forgetting the policy, social intervention, human development as a whole.

if you understand the capacity of what human resources entails, then you will understand why Nigeria can't be judge by oil alone .though its agriculture and mining industry are still much alive .

Seychelles is better developed, even if it grown at 3% its not as bad as eswatini growing at 2%

Seychelles will be hard hit its dependent on tourism

In terms of GDP, ppp it's not complete but per capita of those indicators makes it clearer

HDI very important

So you just validated the same, You have nothing to offer except Crude. Remove crude from that equation (which is happening anyway) and you are done. India US Trade is even in favor of India so dont bring Kenya to save your argument. Remove oil and Nigeria will be in worse situation. Both Nigeria and Kenya need Machines, High Voltage switch-gears, electric Turbines, Aircraft parts, Critical pharmaceuticals. Refined Petroleum, Chemicals, Automobiles etc. And no you can not easily export gas to India, Adani port India has LNG Gas contract for buying from Qatar and Good luck to compete with Qatari infrastructure, Rates, transit Insurance and most of all Distance of Qatar to Indian Ocean and Qatar`s relations with India. Indian ocean is the waterway of trade and you know where Kenya is situated?

Well as it stands today India is the junior partner in the Nigeria India bilateral trade. You can argue all you want. It doesn't change the scenario. wink

You may not know it Nigeria was the second largest supplier of natural gas to India. And India is not weaning itself off hydrocarbons any time soon. Since when has the west been shouting against coal and hydrocarbons? Yet China still has coal fired plants.

Even if India doesn't buy Nigeria's gas there are other markets. The African markets for example is not to be ignored and there's Europe as well.

Then we've got fertilizer and petrochemical plants coming on stream soon. They can lead Nigeria's economy in good directions and capital flight and subsidies would be saved while foreign exchange would come in.

We would be hit pretty bad no doubt. But your country which is plagued with problems against its agriculture and tourism- which are all you have anyway- will be worse hit.
Don't forget we've got a vibrant agriculture sector which even contributes to GDP than oil does.

What we will focus on now is greater outputs in manufacturing and a wider tax net for government revenue.

No matter how you twist it to soothe your calamity as a Kenyan, Nigeria is in a better position than Kenya. Period.

Don't think people will stop eating during lockdown like they've stopped driving their cars. They actually consume more food. Western farmers are in serious trouble because they have a small window and if COVID keep workers home longer - then they will be importing lot more food - and Kenya will benefit.

Tourism yes but with oil stimulus package courtesy of Nigeria - we are more than sorted there.

I am pleased to confirm that Lekki Port has received the $221,047,248 equity funding from China Harbour Engineering Company. The payment was received on Monday, 30th March 2020,” Biodun Dabiri, chairman of Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited, said in Lagos at the end of a board meeting held on Tuesday via teleconferencing, according to a statement issued on Wednesday.

Dabiri said the equity injection, coming at a time when the world is battling the coronavirus pandemic shows CHEC’s deep commitment to the success of the port project, which would greatly contribute to fast-tracking the timely delivery of the project and bringing about economic prosperity to Nigeria as a whole.

This is coming barely five months after the Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited sealed a deal in Lagos in October 2019 with the China Development Bank (CDB) for the funding of the Lekki Deep Seaport project to the tune of $629 million.

And to hurt you more read grin grin grin

The signing of facility loan agreement was then seen as a major step towards the port project’s financial closure, which indicated that the project would move to the construction stage, and it was expected to be delivered in 2021.

When it comes to COVID - No African country can beat Museveni. Museveni has beat HIV-AIDS, EBOLA and COVID-19 is pretty much easy job for him. Uganda didn't even wait for the curve...to flatten.

Uganda now have 18 active aces and zero deaths.

Museveni of Uganda was the first president to successfully fight back against HIV-AIDS - and I followed his COVID attack - he basically took it head on - understood the diseases - and lead the fight.

Kagame his student is not doing badly either.

And there is really no scrap metal in an airline...it just aluminum and maybe cardboard...that is as weightless as possible.

If you're looking for scrap metal - - Don't go further than Ajeukota Steel Mill - that is 8Billion dollar scrap metal heap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - 8B dollars and it has
yet to produce one single steel billet.

And considering the rust - even scrap metal deals will not accept AJEUKOTA steal mill smiley smiley to be smelted. It can become a mesuem for future generation of Nigerians to understand just how. fu.cked your generation was.
