Hey house, I need some advise, what would be the best option for someone in their early 30's to travel to Belgium? I don't want to use agents as most of them are fraudsters, I can fund my trip and I have sufficient amount to show as proof of fund (if required), I know some people go as students but I can hardly speak French. I have an admission to study in a German uni for a while now (Blocked Account also funded) but lately things have proven terrible with the German embassy and their relationship with Nigeria / Nigerians, apparently there are no more interviews dates being given to Nigerians, so I am looking for other options now. My plan is to either travel and study in Belgium or travel to Belgium and then move to Germany from there. I need some advise house! all options would be welcome at this point. Thanks |

evergreen9: Hi I think the best I can say is good luck and I hope you are able to make a decision. But if you have any specific questions about study in Belgium, I'll be happy to help if I can |
Re: Anyone Studying In Belgium? by konja44: 1:12pm On Mar 27, 2020 |
You must not speak French before u can study in Belgium. Beside most people or say Nigerian here are studying in Flanders the Dutch speaking part of Belgium. Majority are following English speaking programs and they are doing fine. So the decision is yours. Good luck evergreen9: |

How is life in Belgium, can one work and study and get Or after studies. |
Re: Anyone Studying In Belgium? by DeeKeem(f): 10:43am On Apr 17, 2020 |
Jubrilx3: To study in Belgium you can show financial sufficiency in three ways 1. A document certifying that the student has been granted a scholarship, sufficient to cover the above-mentioned expenses 2. A commitment that charge has been taken from a Belgian or foreign guarantor (Annex 32) 3. For students without one of the above mentioned documents, the University you are admitted into can provide a certificate of sufficient means of subsistence. You will need to transfer a specified amount to the account of the University, where the funds will be blocked on a personal account. During the period for which you require a proof of sufficient means of subsistence, these funds will be released in monthly payments to your Belgian bank account Please read the thread, there is a wealth of information here 1 Like |

DeeKeem:Is it easy to secure a job while studying in Belgium? What is the pay like? hourly? and what is the average wage? |
Re: Anyone Studying In Belgium? by DeeKeem(f): 11:12pm On Apr 21, 2020 |
myright: I really can't comment on how easy it is to get a job there. But I believe it depends on where you are (big cities or student cities will be easier than smaller cities) and of course speaking the language. Also other people have gone there and have gotten jobs, easy or not you should be able to get a job as well. Student jobs average about €9-15 per hour (It can be more). It is also important to note that students are allowed to work only 20hours per week during the school session but can work full days during summer holidays Gurus in the house please correct me if I'm wrong cc @fikki1 @konja44 |
Re: Anyone Studying In Belgium? by konja44: 11:59pm On Apr 21, 2020 |
This question has been answered here so many times. Why asking same question over and over. It makes this places boring. The answer to your question is yes. You can secure a job and work while you study. For now the wage is not important. But what you will get will be enough for ur day to day expenses and u will save some. If you want to come to study just go ahead and do the needful. You go thank me afterwards. Stop this plenty calculations. E go give u wahala plenty myright: 3 Likes |

DeeKeem:How many hours per week are part time students allowed to work? Will I need a working permit to work while schooling? |
Re: Anyone Studying In Belgium? by myright: 7:36am On Apr 22, 2020 |
konja44:Thanks. I have personal questions I want to ask you. Can I pm you? |
Re: Anyone Studying In Belgium? by fikki1: 9:52am On Apr 22, 2020 |
myright: It depends on where you choose to work, Restaurants = more or less than 20 hours Interims = less than 20 hours except if you work well n your boss likes you, you do exactly 20 hours when you work with the interim (agent). So in all kitchen, restaurant, fast food MAY get you more than 20 hrs.. You don’t need work permit anymore.. it’s now embedded in your resident permit.. 2 Likes |
