I heard that hiring a truck from the port to anywhere in Lagos goes for as high as 800k presently? I was wowed shocked

this i heard that this business is profitable, they then carry all their resources to that business and fail

shining object syndrome is real and affects many Nigerians

focus focus and consistency is the key to success in any business.

That very correct I have done this ehailing for a year now and I can say. That is okay if you are driving yourself.

If I wanted to invest 3 or 4 cars in this business I will have done that long ago. Haven said that am wotking towards going into haulaging next year. I just hope this pandemic shit is over as soon as possible.

I will I will be starting with one truck that can covey 20ft CONTAINER. AND strickly within lagos. This is what one of my inlaw is doing for 4 years now and his cashing out big time.

So I will like us to also look into this line of investment. Because breaking even with ehailing do not seem possible.
From my little experience in haulage biz, it still depends on having a good manager and driver. Manager can kill the truck if he keeps accepting loads that are way beyond the truck's capacity.

Driver's troubles may be minimal since it's within Lagos but if it's interstate they will deliver the loads and tell you truck has broken down in sambisa meanwhile they're using the truck for side hustle and they'll still collect money from you for fixing

All in all just like every other transport businesses, it requires proper monitoring because those that you will employ will be aiming to make more money than you at any cost

Boss I follow jam the baba too... See in business people will not tell you the bad side until you put neck. Because your in-law is into it does not mean your in-law will bail yhu out when the trouble start oooo.
From experience my mum was sweet talk into buying Mac truck for loading sands and the person who introduced her to it was already managing like six trucks oooo, omo na the first six months mumsy collect money after na story upon story...

As a guy man go do feasibility study of the business, the logistics, in fact I go ask you to tell your in-law to put yhu through for six months, for best knowledge go apapa find one of those guys running and do motor boy then you can decide to go into it.
It ain't easy from the outside Tyre alone na like 60k not to talk of other part you go dey buy without them fixing it just gallivanting about with your money...

Wetin I know I be mechanic abi.

I don't get paid enough for my service ....but make I help others out there...

Depending on the season or how busy it gets at the port.. If you have a container to haul from the port .. It can cost 100k to 200k and about 500k in xmas or high season.. This quote is for short distance that allows you just to offload your goods..... anything further than that could be higher ......

From my logical investigation I've come to final conclusion, sexylassie is a guy and not a female he choose the gender just to get attention. If you doubt me ask izzuo.

I'm surprised you just got to know this. Ain't you surprised anytime you sexylassie, you don't get to see ornicus. Same mode or arguments. Ladies don't have that time.

I might be wrong, but I think the original plan for ehailing is to drive (you own the car) at your leisure time and make extra cash.

The only way to "enjoy" this uber buisness is if you own the car and you drive it yourself. There is this peace that comes with it. I have been fortunate to drive my own car and I tell you its rewarding cos
1. No pressure of 25k weekly remittance
2. You drive the car with care cos it's your own
3. You go online when you need money or bored
I can go on and on.

I dont think "in the abroad
" they operate the way we do which is to give the car out for rental. I stand corrected I'm speaking from my own experience as a driver for a year plus on uber/taxify.

P.S Corrolla is not hyped, its underrated!

In the USA , since I speak facts only... in my state and I assume it applies for other states too ... there is a company conjunction with uber called GETAROUND .This company leases out cars for uber on weekly base. I think am not sure exactly the weekly lease is , I think it is $250 a week for uber...

A very good friend of mine uses them.. He tends to use them more often when his personal car is at the shop . So he goes through uber to get that rate of $250 rental .. He said the company leases 700 cars weekly for uber .. He said some people don't want to deal with using their own cars and putting high miles ,so they lease from the company for a week.. Others have car issues, and while their cars at the shop they lease from the company..

Keep in mind Yankee mechanics are not cheap at all ..so people prefer to just lease for uber.. But 700 cars weekly that is a lot...

With the contemporary e hailing business model in Nigeria. You are partially right. However I feel many of us are doing it the wrong way.

There are also car rental companies abroad that people use for e hailing and it works but here the reverse seems to be the case.

Yes they can put u through, than after six months or so they will release you to the wolves, you are on your own after that....they will now tell you they have put u through o.. They have done their part o. Them too get their own stress o

People think business is a joke o ..most of my idea or experience I share or post. Most people will not even share them . They prefer for you to go and learn on your own.. After all this is business

You will spend more on the maintenance of a civic
and at the end the civic has no second hand value.

People will ask what are we doing wrong in this business. This is the same guy that gave out his tokunbo car for uber and they person turn it into yellow cab in two days.. Smh ..

Different topic on this thread, I begin to wonder and surprised at some people IQ and level of intelligence.
This lockdown has brought out the best in some people ( They shouldn't be driving uber , they should be in CBN,NNPC, health sectors & top management running affairs of Nigeria ) people wasting away their talents.

Let me see the next topic before I go on break again

Has anyone looked considered the mini bus for shuttle? Since the ban on motor bikes those who have these buses are seriously catching out big.

I have a friend who works in top radio, does uber with his car and alos bought a mini bus registered it in ikeja metropolis. Driver balances him N5k daily.

The bus is very affordable now, I think its within N600-N800k now it used to be cheaper though and I believe very soon that price will skyrocket to about N1m or more.

I also have a church member that just finish paying for his HP about N1.6m.

So incase you're looking for a transporting buzness maybe you should consider mini bus as an option as well.
