The fact that they are now resorting to 'The British " is evidence of desperation

Originally it was Ibos and oil money that made Lagos now that reality is starting them in the face it is The British

Go to Britain and see what the Roman's did nearly 2000 years ago. So what? Where are the Romans today

The simple fact is Lagos from day one has been a net contributor giving more than it received. Even a hundred years ago it was a CASH COW

Eko o ni boje

God bless you my brother.

They have been parroting for ages that they built Lagos with their oil money and one would but wonder why they all forget to build their own region instead of wasting their resources on a far away Lagos.

It is evident that Lagos was initially built by the money accrued from the other Yoruba states coupled with the fact that the British saw a prospect in Lagos due to this geography. Hence the FG banked on the glory of Lagos to retain it as the FCT before moving it to Abuja.

@the bolded, there are also structures that the British built in USA before the left. A lot more of those structures around the world.

They couldn't have used your resources because the resources were worthless until they exported the cocoa to Europe to people making chocolate.

It was the British that made cocoa in the western hinterland or palm oil and rubber in the East into cash crops

They invested money in ports, forced your ancestors to plant the cocoa and made plenty of money for the British Empire.
You are bitter, grudging and resentful

You have now accepted it was those resources from the Yoruba people that built Lagos and not the oil money you all guys love to parrot about.

Now it seems we both agree on one thing.

Did you read the financial statements in the reports? Did you comprehend them?
So when Third Mainland was built the port in Lagos was not generating income?
There was no revenue accrued from Lagos to Nigeria

Lagos has never stopped contributing even today it is a NET contributor

We don't need cocoa to develop.
Those who have confidence from the private sector are developing a port at Lekki. I pray you live long to see the completion

[s]Afonjas and their tomfoolery; who is dragging Lagos with you? The fact is Niger Delta oil money, selection of Lagos as Capital Territory, and taxes and duties paid by Nigerians made Lagos what it's today. As Dokubo Asari said...Lagos will be nothing without Niger Delta oil money and monopolization of seaports and airport. If they should open Port Harcourt, Calabar, Warri, Onne and Onitsha seaports and riverport, as well as Enugu, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Asaba and Uyo airports to full and complete international status( in deeds not in words...without interference by federal government), LAGOS WILL GO BANKRUPT.

BTW, do you know how much I paid in taxes last week for my business in Lagos? If you know, you will lie down and thank me for supporting Lagos, and in turn, that money used to pay yorubaa civil servants, your father and mother included. So thank us for supporting you people if not hunger for done finish una. SMH[/s]

Have you agreed your woebegone land is too repugnant to attract serious investment?

Run from who? A you?

I don’t waste my time discussing with people like you. We’ve both settled the matter and you already succumbed to a superior argument that Lagos was built with the revenue from the Yorubas.

Whether na British, European, Yoruba, or Indians build am is not an issue here.

So you mean because the Chinese are constructing the Lagos-Ibadan rail line, it means no Nigerian is part of the workers constructing it?

Can you clearly see you are saying rubbish?

where is cocoa the Western Nigeria is known for we all know that palm oil/kernels are from the east ,timber/rubber from middlebelt, and cotton from the north.

Lagos parasitic life even began since 1889.

CHAIIII

East had its own export harbour at Brass. This was where exports from East were shipped.

Lagos was export point for the Colony and hinterland.

In 1898 and 99, there was nothing called Southern Nigeria or regional government.

We had the Colony, the hinterland.
There was palm oil/palm kernel and rubber in Lagos and as well hinterland.

These were not products from East. Remember no rail no road connecting to East. So how would they transport palmoil and kernel from East to go West?

Eastern crops and commodities shipped out of Oil Rivers. The "oil" stood for palm oil, not crude oil.....crude was not yet discovered.

The most important resource in any infrastructural development is land!

You cant build a port in air or on ocean.

Land! Land! Land!

The land the port is built on belongs to who?

There is a development plan that has been drafted by DAWN and it covers entire Yorubaland....from the Ocean to the River.

We are hesitant on starting the project.....don't want you to do to Ibadan, Abeokuta, Akure, Ogbomosho, Ekiti, Ilorin, Lokoja, what we witnessed you doing to Lagos.

You flooded into a beautiful pristine Lagos and turned into filth and slums.

DAWN ni EVENING ko grin all na political wash for gullible average plebs to use and brag about. It was just a gimmick to intimidate GEJ. Ten years after all the noise how far?

Lagos was a cool cosmopolitan city with the aworis, egbas, ijebus, ijaws, Igbos, northerners, Syrians, Lebanese etc The problem is when you guys from the hinterland of neighbouring Yoruba states started flooding the place, creating slums and multiplying like spores in the 1970s during the oil boom

Interesting. So 'our oyel' money was not the main money used to build Lagos but Lagos money was used to build ' our oyel'
Infrastructures that made 'our oyel' chants possible.
Really interesting!
