What is striking is he is a product of a PUBLIC school which our Aboki sneers at.

Of course he would be Yoruba predictably ANC on the day when Yoruba are not at home *bos will deputise

Can't you comprehend a sample sentence I said potentials, that why I mentioned balming our leaders for not hernessing those potentials and agriculture is one of them. Besides kaduna, kano, jigawa, buchi all use agriculture as part of their Igr it's just that it's isn't still enough

true! I grew up & went to secondary school in Maiduguri before the bombs began to rain. I had a friend, a Kanuri teenage boy back then, all that occupied his mind was how his father was going to marry his first wife for him in his father’s house.
I wonder how people like you reason. The only thing that you could come up with after spending sometime in Maiduguri is the fact that parents are responsible for getting their son's a wife because its part of their culture. These same kanuri people that you regard as illiterates have been able to read and write 700 years plus ahead of any southern tribe. They have been civilized for more than a 1000 plus years .. Go do some reading about kanuri's before you come here spewing rubbish

We're talking of the core North and not Middle Belt.

The Old Northern region no longer exists,

If that's the case then Akwaibom is part of Eastern Nigeria.

You are wrong sir,

1) They have acquired tastes for 'good things'

2) They will quickly look inward for alternative sources of revenues which every region have in abundance

3) Corruption will reduce drastically because there won't be any surplus free money to loot.

4) The only real threat to the economic recovery of the North in the first 10 years post disintegration is Islamic terrorism because in the ensuring economic hardship in the first 24 months after the disintegration, Islamic fundamentists will want to grab power to proclaim a Caliphate.

ContractKiller:
All these flashy, superficial "achievements" would immediately fall into disrepair when these people eventually have to be on their own.

The fact still remains that were it not for the South generating 90% of this country's income you guys would remain as wretched and impoverished as your primitive lifestyles have destined you to be.

What fictional alternative sources of revenue are you jibbering about? Is it the ones they have refused to use in bettering themselves for the last 100 years, even before the amalgamation?

Was it not because of the extreme poverty in Aboki land that the British decided on amalgamation with the South?

How exactly does anyone "quickly develop" with massive poverty, desert encroachment and being a landlocked country?

Kindly elaborate. I'm in the mood to hear some first grade stupidity this morning.

Firstly I don't engage people who insults people while making their comments.

It shows ill mannered and uncultured behaviours.

However, for the sake of others reading this post, I will point out certain facts to you.

1) Resources to develop a Nation abound in the North and the most important factor of all these factors of production is HUMAN factors.

2) The North has substantial population which can be deployed into production by training them to acquire the necessary skills and education which are NOT inborn but acquired.
Anybody can become educated and/or acquired skills.

3) The North has huge land mass which can and is producing rice, beans, maize, groundnuts, cotton and support Animal Husbandry.
All these if properly harnessed, processed and exported can generate more fund than what Nigeria is currently generating from crude oil.

The North has gold, Tin and many other mineral resources.

4) Why hasn't the North make use of all these resources to develop themselves? The Ans= NIGERIA and it's petrol Dollars.

It's the same reason why Enugu and Ondo States aren't currently enjoying the wealth from their coal and bitumen resources.

5) Sometimes, we don't run until we see something pursuing us. That's when we know how far we can run.

Being poor is a transient phase and NOT a permanent disability.

In 1914, China was a poor country and Saudi Arabia in 1935 was one of the poorest countries on Earth with Camels as the commonest means of transportation between cities.

As at 1960, Nigeria was better than Indonesia or Malaysia and Dubai was a backward fishing village in 1970.

Rwanda was a very poor country with tribal tension leading to bloody civil war in 1994 but today the country has one of the fastest developing economies in Africa and if they continue on this path for the next twenty years will become an economic hub.

As it's with individuals, so it's with Nations; poverty can be overcomed!
