2013 model should be nothing less than #1m should be paid to Govt coffers (i.e surface duty, surcharge, etls & vat) to forestall 'alert' and for relative peace of mind on the road.

Adding other charges & 'payments' should come to about #1.4m (if you are lucky).

PS: I am not an agent, just my opinion based on experience importing vehicles.

I am an agent and that is actually correct sir, to avoid any pressure and tensions, any car ranges from 2013 upward dnt have certain clearing price, we consult valuation before taking and right now VAT has increased both at custom side and in shipping and terminal charges , , so for you to avert any form of unnecessary pressure, just pay , the amount to be cleared such car is ranging from 1.2 above, some agent will collect 950k from u first to secure the job from U and come back later for more money , so becareful Sir. And mean while the clearing charges vAries from shipping line or shipping company to be assure of the terminal where the car will be and under which customs command .

I would advise you erase from your mind paying #950k to any agent to clear the vehicle or you will end up paying double.

Importantly also, quickly get an agent so the vehicle can be secured from wharf-rats (I don't wish for my enemy to have rx350 vandalised , which is more rampant with Sallaum line)

That vehicle will definitely be seize if you encounter any custom check. My 2010 was cleared for total sum of N1.2m (surface duty was well over 850k) in December 2018, and custom in Benin once held me for duty underpayment.

Yes , I’m an agent but I have some making enquiries as regard this type of vehicle , this is it , let assume the buying cost of the vehicle from abroad according to the custom chart I checked as at xterday , it was stated there to be $25,984 multiply by the new customs xchange dollar rate which is #361, that gave us 9,380,585, Multiply by 35% and that is 3,282,699 for surface duty but to have the overall total duty it will be 3,282,699 multiply by 1.38 new 7.5% , when it was 5% we used 1.26 and that gave us 4,530,125 which is very high to pay , so that’s why we agent go for compromise value by going to custom valuation office to make sure we get Lower price to make it considerate for our customers , so let calculate again, now if we get compromise value from the custom and let assume we were given compromise surface duty value of 1.3 which is quite lower to the previous 3,282,699 which is going to be 1,300,000 multiply by 1.38 and that will give us 1,794,000 as the Total duty alone , if we were given 1,200,000 , that will give us 1,656,000 including VAT, Surcharge, and ETL , I will say the lower compromise value we get as surface duty , the lower we will have as the total duty and before we get the compromise value there is always miscellaneous payment for that . Please make sure you pay 1.million above for surface duty anything lesser than that is risky .

Yes it is possible (but I think you will need a NCS Licensed Agent letter) .Also, the process fraught with bottleneck and difficulties, except you are very very patient (luckily, traffic is out of the problem right now).

Yes, my thoughts. After doing there calculations from a chart with them, they claimed i was suppose to pay N1.2m as surface duty, but knew they wanted me to grease their palm.

Not double but a significant increase most especially for recent Cars. Cars between 2003 to 07 have increment less than 100k.
