Workers Locked Down In Ramadan Without Salaries by JosEast(m): 6:59am On Apr 25, 2020 |
This year’s Ramadan fast started throughout the country yesterday, but the holy month will be observed under unusual circumstances as Muslim faithful in several states face the coronavirus lockdown amid unpaid salaries. Muslims face a peculiar Ramadan period this year with virtual lockdown in almost all sectors of the nation’s economy and social life as evidenced by the highly recommended social distancing and movement restrictions. The beginning of the fast is made more unusual among civil servants who have yet to get this month’s salaries. In Bauchi State for instance which is under partial lockdown, civil servants are yet to get their April salaries, same as in many other states.https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/workers-locked-down-in-ramadan-without-salaries.html 2 Likes 1 Share

Talking about Bauchi, kaduna blah blah what about the elephant in the room. The FG didn't pay.., Buhari's love for this woman make him blind, this woman is holding nigeria and Nigerians by the cullies and shorts. Quick question is Nigeria a socialist country or communist? Certainly is not a capitalist country 20 Likes

any deal ? Y’all want the lockdown and you got it, how do you enforce lockdown without palliatives? U can see say all the money donated Na audio, just to get kickbacks and tax waiver from the gov USA has injected over 3 trillion dollar in her economy, and most countries that are on lockdown, there food bank is alive, what bout our silos? ( why should FG control SiLos) how much has our government giving out as palliatives not to talk of helping S.M.Es, but we have heard countless stories of misappropriation of public funds set aside for this You’re on lockdown, but your politicians still get paid... Industries have been shutdown, companies are not working, and the price of crude oil is below a dollar... stupid government shutting down economy without backup plan It’s a long road and we should brace up, allow people work, you don’t enforce lockdown without testing on a large scale This government need good advisers 7 Likes

JosEast: For those wondering, civil service state is a Nigerian phrase used to describe a useless and unprofitable state. They have produce nothing and have nothing doing. Most of the top employees in the state work with the state and local government civil service. The governors always depend on Abuja for their monthly allocation. Most other states do too, but these ones totally depend on Abuja. No money from Abuja equals no salaries. Then entire state comes to a standstill since traders, farmers and everyone else depend on civil servants to spend to keep the money going round. A good example is Bauchi, as the civil servant quoted mentioned up there. Other states like Ebonyi, Sokoto, Kebbi, Ekiti, Benue, Kogi, Imo, Taraba, Jigawa, Katsina, Borno and Yobe also fall under this category. Most states do actually but these ones are the few of the most affected. Shame on the governors of those states. 24 Likes 3 Shares |

These are indeed hard times! Due to the fall in price of oil, most states will not even be able to pay salaries starting from the month of June or July cos the FAAC from the federal government would have dried up! 1 Like 1 Share |

I commiserate with my Yoruba Muslim brothers who have little or nothing to feed on in this Ramadan period....May Allah provide for his Children As for starving Hausa Muslims, you guys can feed on the 20k palliative Buhari gave you guys...since you guys got Corona Palliative without any Corona in your areas, Allah has deemed it fit that the 20k Buhari sent to your accounts is your Ramadan Palliative God bless you all... 37 Likes 3 Shares |

Basically, we aren't selling oil, so we are not earning enough That's why we should have diversified our economy ages ago...and that's what we voted APC for. APC , how far. (And PDP, see what 16 years of mismanagement have caused too). 3 Likes 1 Share |

This reporter is rushing to have a story. This is Nigeria and salary mostly comes at the very end of the month. He should have waited till the end of the month or early may and if most states do not pay by then he can now write his report and it will make sense. 3 Likes |

What a pity!!! And to thinkt that Allah and Yahweh could not do anything about this COVID-19 is something to woreoy about. So this is how bad Easter and Ramadan will go down in history in 2020? Indeed Jehovah and Allah are in their spiritual cage. |

ASUU has not been paid for months too....brace up for tough times ahead. Your government will be borrowing and mortgaging your future for the next foreseeable future and probably borrow more from China and give them Apapa Port. We have failed to plan or save our excess crude money and now it is time to suffer the consequences. Now is the real rule of cluelessness....i am sorry for Nigerians in advance and i really feel bad genuinely. I see all those Abacha tough days coming all back again! 2 Likes |
