Uglyaddy: Lol how do you want the company to know that you've not gone anywhere for one month? You were supposed to inform them off any change in circumstance. Call them and change your policy from commute to pleasure, or even to full parking insurance (if you're sure you won't go anywhere at all). Don't forget to inform them whenever the circumstances change again. 17 Likes 9 Shares |

Hello seniors, You guys have made this platform very interesting with your contributions and words of wisdom. By God's grace I would be relocating to Canada after the pandemic. My question is centered on Getting a job in my field. I have over 7 years experience in HR, and I would like to continue in this field. I currently need advise and mentorship as regards bridging programs and other things that can Fast track my projection. Your advices would go a long way in allaying my fears. Thanks. 3 Likes |

Hello Guys!! What are career prospects for someone that studied Medicine in Russia and look to relocate to Canada. I heard stories about the difficulty in getting a Job as a General Practitioner. Pls is there any Medical Doctor in the house that can give me more insight or Advice as regards this. |
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by 40manlappy: 3:54am On Apr 23, 2020 |
Uglyaddy: My understanding is that this is being done on a case-by-case basis, it is not automatic. If you are not driving the car at all, they can switch your usage to “parked” temporarily and give you a considerable discount; same for “pleasure” use (essential trips to grocery store, pharmacy, etc). I recommend that you reach out to your insurer ASAP. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Echinedu1:There are lots. Just go on instagram and follow canadavendors. She advertises vendors selling naija stuffs. I have personally used 2404foods (out of Brampton) on instagram to deliver to sask.. I am aware she delivers across Toronto too. mychopchop.ca is another popular one, but I haven't tried her yet. 21 Likes 19 Shares |

LANDING GIST! (Belated Version) We had to pen this as we’ve learnt from others’ stories. Submitted passports on 6th Jan. Approved on 15th Jan. Collected on 21st Jan. On Jan 22nd we booked Emirates because of previous experience, 23hr layover (Dubai Connect (DC)…shoutout to @Torkwase1) and family size. We booked via travelbeta as it offered the lowest rates for our itinerary (vs emirates app, emirates website, emirates office, wakanow and travelstart). A few days before the flight we made in-flight changes like child meal, seats, bassinet seats etc. PS: If you have a baby, fly first class. Can’t afford it? fly biz class. Still can’t afford it? Get seats right in front of the bulkhead. 29th Jan; we got to the airport 2hrs before take-off due to a serious medical condition called African timing! Check-in process was a breeze due to priority given to kids and all bags being within luggage restrictions. We didn’t forget to collect our Dubai Connect vouchers at the check-in counter. Immigration and boarding went smoothly too; only taxation occurred at crossing the boarding gates. Also, they let us board with already prepared baby formula. Flight to Dubai wasn’t fully booked, the meals were good and our kids got toys, baby formula (Cowgate), craft stuff, personal care bags, etc. Travelling with a toddler and a baby is quite tiring, we only slept when they allowed us to. PS: Don’t let your toddler wait till 2nd leg extra-time stoppage time injury time before going to pee…queue fit dey loo. We landed Dubai and lots of people were wearing face masks #Corona. We cleared immigration, confirmed our DC vouchers and got a free ride to the hotel. NB: First Class? Benz S550. Biz Class? Lexus ES350. Economy like me? Bus We spent the layover sleeping, eating and sightseeing. We also got free tickets to the Dolphinarium from a real-estate company that cornered us at the airport on arrival. Flight to Toronto was 12hours long and we landed early in the morning - around 9am. Immigration officer was God-sent; only asked us if we are married and how many kids. The moment she said “Welcome to Canada” I felt light instanta! #18MonthsProject Proceeded to SIN, got our bags and exited the airport doors around 11:59:05am…came back to the airport by 11:59:10am…dressed for the weather…left finally. We already booked AirBnB before we arrived, so we called for check-in instructions and found out it was a “covert listing”. We checked in and stayed indoors for the rest of the day. Done back accounts and other stuff. Waiting for a bank letter to do OHIP. Job hunting and reading towards certifications for now. Top 3 Things I Noticed - The toilet water is higher - Toilets flush different-Pressure Assist...( my spirit NOC code must be 7251) - /Etobico/ Top 3 Things Wifey Noticed - So many old people moving around - Canada has potholes too (but the govt can be notified via a website to come and fix them) - Malls are evil Top 3 Things Toddler noticed - Seeing winter breath (condensation) - Snow - Fine AirBnB condo Top 3 Things Baby noticed - . - .. - ... Once again, we appreciate all those that shared their stories, answered our queries and pointed us in the right direction. God bless. 80 Likes 12 Shares

Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by NaijaCanadian28: 8:43am On Apr 25, 2020 |
Crummy:There’s a way you can work around it, your spouse can apply for a visiting visa and when she gets here, she can apply for a work permit, she can be on the work permit till the spousal sponsorship clicks. This was what my friend did as her husband couldn’t stay away from her for a whole year. Pls note that if you apply for work permit from Nigeria, you’ll be denied, you should get the visiting visa first , then get the work permit when you get here. 16 Likes 13 Shares |
