For those wondering, civil service state is a Nigerian phrase used to describe a useless and unprofitable state. They have produce nothing and have nothing doing. Most of the top employees in the state work with the state and local government civil service.

The governors always depend on Abuja for their monthly allocation. Most other states do too, but these ones totally depend on Abuja.

No money from Abuja equals no salaries.

Then entire state comes to a standstill since traders, farmers and everyone else depend on civil servants to spend to keep the money going round.

A good example is Bauchi, as the civil servant quoted mentioned up there.

Other states like Ebonyi, Sokoto, Ekiti, Benue, Kogi, Imo, Taraba, Jigawa, Katsina, Borno and Yobe also fall under this category. Most states do actually but these ones are the few of the most affected.

Shame on the governors of those states.

Y’all want the lockdown and you got it, how do you enforce lockdown without palliatives?

U can see say all the money donated Na audio, just to get kickbacks and tax waiver from the gov

USA has injected over 3 trillion dollar in her economy, and most countries that are on lockdown, there food bank is alive, what bout our silos? ( why should FG control SiLos) how much has our government giving out as palliatives not to talk of helping S.M.Es, but we have heard countless stories of misappropriation of public funds set aside for this

You’re on lockdown, but your politicians still get paid...

Industries have been shutdown, companies are not working, and the price of crude oil is below a dollar... stupid government shutting down economy without backup plan

It’s a long road and we should brace up, allow people work, you don’t enforce lockdown without testing on a large scale

I really like that centre statement. '...you are on lockdown but your politicians get paid...' and will use it to flog our dead brained citizens till they get sense.

Indeed. Whether the lockdown lasts a year until a vaccine is found they will get paid, long after most companies will have folded up and most Nigerians will be eating out of a spoon.

Then the rebooting of the minds of Nigerians will begin. Then they will understand what democracy means that power should belong to the people. By then all sentiment will have faded and all people will be ready to cast fear into those who lead but who should serve. Then no citizens will fight and destroy his fellow citizen on behalf of those who don't give a hoot.

As a matter of fact I have another bitter pill for Nigerians...

Schools are beginning to open around Europe and very soon the States. Lockdown or not, they will fly their kids abroad on chartered flights at your expense while your kids remain at home and lose time to their kids.

If that in addition does not compel you to stand up and demand for proper, good, right, high performance governance.... then you are practically damned.

There is no govermemt in the world today not under the severest of pressure, even those performing to a relatively higher degree. Why should Nigerians sit idly twidling their thumbs while their country crashes.

As for starving Hausa Muslims, you guys can feed on the 20k palliative Buhari gave you guys...since you guys got Corona Palliative without any Corona in your areas, Allah has deemed it fit that the 20k Buhari sent to your accounts is your Ramadan Palliative cool

God bless you all...

The whole country is on lockdown... what is special about workers being locked down there without salary? it's same in other places...
if there is anything to go by, they stand a better chance since they are fasting (unless if they are pretending) cos it means less meal and that helps save them money..

They should generally talk about not paying salary to every civil servant in general ...Cos it's same for everyone.. whether you are observing Ramadan or not..
Re: Workers Locked Down In Ramadan Without Salaries by gredenco1(m): 9:21am On Apr 25, 2020
We celebrated Easter peacefully and didn't make noise and currently we are still on lockdown with the rest of the country...
Abeg spare me that Ramadan rubbish..
just that you skipped afternoon meal we will not hear word (that's if you even skip it at all) ..

It's now u know how bleeped up this shithole is...

I hope you don't have problem in the head?

You put Imo that has oil, Kebbi and Ebonyi wit agricultural products in your writeup and the likes of Osun, Ondo (same as Imo), Kwara, Oyo etc are not there.

Is this not trash?

During Easter, lockdown was lifted and salaries were paid. All christians enjoyed the celebration in an elaborate manner. This Government is partial. Hmm this topic self

Exactly the same thing prof Adewole Isaac did to front line health workers last year simply because they were asking for a better working condition n pay... He with held their salaries for the months of April n may 2019. Which brought untold hardship to their families, the Muslims amongst them fasted n celebrated sallah without salaries, Mr president refuse to intervene because the then minister of health told him that they were been sponsored by the opposition... Nigerians were tongue lashing them, today we r being faced by the covid-19.. The poorer state of our health sector is been exposed... The pay package is laid bare on the table. Top government officials are claiming they never knew the health sector had deteriorated to this level, the minister of health is denying knowledge of the psaltery sum paid as hazard allowance to health worker... When a particular class of workers are being paid 30,000 for handling chalk n marker, those handling potentially infectious blood products are paid 5000... ASUU went on strike, there salaries were paid in the first instance, in the second instance the government are making plans to pay them again their withheld salaries, the nurses, scientist, pharmacists and other health workers are being owed two months salaries for close to 24months and yet same people are serving the nation selfless without PPE, over 40 of them been infected...the government should do the needful because kama is already taking its toll..
