Its not working because we refuse to adhere to simple instructions. The intelligent rich wants to show he is above the law, the ignorant poor assumes government is just trying to scam them, The virus keeps spreading. And we all cry it's not working, abeg how he go work? suggest alternative measures please.

And kids infected by their parents take it to school and transmit it non-infected kids who now take it home to infect their parents and older siblings.

It doesn't make sense in any way!
Schools can do this in various platforms while at home.. But not necessarily opening..

Just that from this part of the world, we lack the basics of doing things..

Contract it from who?If govt brain storm and put laws in place.. Laws likeTeachers must go on compulsory test if they are negative they should be allowed to go back to class with there gloves and face mask on.
Children must wear nose mask and gloves in school while the school provide hand sanitisers for them.

Parents and visitors shouldnt be allowed inside the class room if they come to pick there kids for safty reason..They will understand and if they must enter they should wear nose mask and gloves or use sanitizers in the gate.
Children have no bizness with this virus so no need to involve them.It hardly kill them.. with the right law they wont contract and spread it.
the thing is,
According to WHO, this virus might be here for a long time. We can't pause every aspect of our life and wait for it to go away. We need to learn a new way of living. God will help us Sha. Churches and schools won't lock down for ever. It's time to set new rules. A new way of life

you will be the first to send your child to school, let us see what will happen,a responsible parent don't have the luxury of choice when it comes to protecting his or her children, let them stay back home,I have survived a one year strike during my school years and I did not die

We are both aware, maybe somewhere in our inner mind, that Nigeria Nigeria's public health atmosphere would have been painted red by now. The US recorded over 2,000 deaths in 24 Hours three days ago. What would you say about that? They have the amenities. The truth is, as little as this "stay at home" may appear to you, it is really helping the essential workers to manage the spread of this virus.

I really understand the frustration that hunger could cause, and I blamed our government for attributing less value to its citizens.
nice quote you got up there, see the major problem here is hunger, if government could address the issue of hunger with proper security, people will be willing to stay for extra weeks, for Christ sake our mentalities differ, there are people that can stay with hunger and be on lockdown because they know the gravity of what is on ground and there are people who care less, let the government address this and we will reach a level playing ground that will suite all. Covid-19 no be small pikin thing o

EODs.

ALABACONNECT:
If there is an extension of the lockdown, I hope we all have guns to hold still the likely rise in crime and the government enough food to appease the stomach of everyone.

If we call off or "make light" the lockdown, even with restrictions we are Nigerians and stubborn by nature and so therefore break rules which will see the hike in cases.

They just have to be smart about any decision taken. Be safe out there Nairalanders
Acidosis:
Good news for those with cars. The "vulnerable" groups that wake up daily to hustle for those rusty yellow buses in Lagos would need extra protective wears like hand gloves.

Seems like a good recommendation that needs further review. A one size fits all approach cannot work for all 36 states. You can't tell people to go to work in Lagos state and at the same time declare a curfew. You either lockdown or open-up 100%.

In the midst of all these, something needs to be done about testing rate. The Lagosians I know would not comply with nose masks beyond a day or two. And the Nigerian Policemen we all know are the last sets of humans to depend on when it comes to enforcing laws and order

Lockdown is not the solution to this problem...

People should take precautionary measures and avoid large gatherings.

You are comparing Nigeria to UAE?Are their heath systems on the same level? Make this thing go out of hand for Naija first. Una go hear am.

Until people start to pick dead bodies from the streets God forbid, before they stay at home voluntarily.

Nigeria is handling it better than Dubai this time , Nigeria is about 200millon with under 1000 cases , UAE is not up to 10 million with almost 10,000 cases almost 100 deaths ,

Now they reopen ,

India just announced they have contained the virus and have relaxed some restrictions. It is really important the government contains the spread and also know where the hot spots are. Opening the economy now would be suicide mission and would risk Nigeria bin locked out from the world when other countries are reopening.

Countries are reopening

No it will not , during lockdown it's going up too

Let's look at loss of lives , the coronavirus itself never killed up to 30,

Hunger and issues arriving from the lockdown has killed more

Government need to relax a bit , to save lives , businesses and health

They should give measures , Cross river is back in business , still no fresh cases

But if they think the lockdown is better , they should provide us with assistance , credit us .

The other day , an elderly man died at ijesha from injuries sustain during robbery by million boys , at idumota one woman observing the stay at home lost all in her lace shop to break and entry boys , a lot like that .

Make nose cover must , limit the numbers of people at a particular place at a time , run tests

Or since the number is still going up , should we continue to sit at home forever ?
