ITA recipients who are submitting and are unable to provide some compulsory docs due to COVID MUST include an LOE saying so and giving details. See below COPR recipients who are unable to travel before expiry should raise a CSE. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/service-delivery/coronavirus/permanent-residence.html#Application_intake 4 Likes |

Hello Nairalandians, I have been a silent reader and follower since I discovered this site several months ago. I have found it really helpful, insightful, educating and sometimes "anonying" especially when I see certain posts which go against the spirit and letter of this site. First, I would like to say a big Thank You to the contributors, leaders and readers here and also pray that God will continue to bless and meet everyone's need. Now, to my main purpose for this post. Essentially this is just to share my story, though not yet complete, in order to encourage my fellow soujourners and also appreciate those who have gone ahead of us. DECISION TO MIGRATE I have always nursed the idea of living and working outside the shores of Nigeria as far back as when I left the University around 2001. I even had a close friend who left for Canada I think around 2004 under a similar scheme them - highly skilled program or something. I can't recollect exactly. However, because I was too broke to even afford the funds for IELTS, I put that ambition in the cooler for the time being. At this time, I was working in the bank and later on I got a job in the oil industry. Over the years, it's not all being rosy and with each successive government, it kept getting worse. Finally, in 2018 I decided I had 'had enough' and was ready to finally make the move. ECA Due to limited knowledge, I sent both BSc & Masters for WES evaluation and did same for my spouse who had only a bachelor's degree. Her transcript took a while so it delayed the process. Ultimately, we got this sorted. IELTS As a result of my busy schedule, I hardly had time for prep for the exam. To be honest I took it for granted that this was just test of English. So the only real study I did was watching YouTube videos a day before the speaking test and also going through some online questions a day prior to the LRW tests respectively. Luckily I aced the exams with the following scores: LRSW: 8.5, 8.5, 8, 7.5. For my spouse it was 6.5, 7.5, 7, 6 ITA We got into the pool in June 2018 and started praying about ITA. Prayer and faith works, I tell you. If you don't believe in the efficacy of prayer, I encourage you to try it. I ultimately didn't only get an ITA in the most unexpected way, but also became a better person in the process. Just when we were almost giving up, there was a back-to-back ITA in January 2019 and the second one happened to be the lowest score of all draws till date. The score was 438, ours was 439! AOR / post-ITA Again due to inexperience it took us almost 2 months to get all documents from the ITA on January 31st 2019 to when we finally submitted in March. During that time also I had one of the worst experiences on my life - losing a very close family member. I was the primary applicant, and had to do the work of gathering all documents and getting references, etc.. During this time, I even noticed that some big boys in the oil industry i knew well were also doing same thing. Leaving their well paid jobs to seek stability, security and better future prospects for their family. Everything else happened very quickly between March and June. Biometrics - April 2019 ADRs - got 3 between April & June 2019 Medical _ March 2019 The 6 months processing time given was supposed to be due in September, but nothing seemed forthcoming. Then I started sending CSEs at least once monthly between September to December 2019. In December, I ordered for GCMS Notes and it came in January 2020, showing that file was still in Accra Visa Office (AVO). I raised CSEs to AVO, but kept getting same response "file is in queue" for processing" The GCMS showed also that eligibility was passed and everything else looked ok, except that Security and Criminality was not yet started. Again in February I requested another GCMS notes and when it came back a month later, it was basically the same thing. File transferred to Hong Kong due to load distribution. Latest Update The latest update was a ghost update early March and nothing has moved since then. Looking back today, though I'm yet to get PPR or the coveted CoPR, I am grateful and thankful to God for everything. I especially found this platform helpful, as I saw first hand that I wasn't alone. It's almost 15 months after AOR, but I am certain it will end in praise. Finally, lessons I have learnt this period: 1. Do not put your life on hold, keep busy and focus on one day at a time. 2. Use the wait period to develop yourself. Find online courses, certification programs and personal development stuff you can do while you wait. Take professional exams if possible (COVID 19 in mind) 3. Look out for organisations or associations in Canada you can join especially in your field and take a membership if you can and if such exists in your field. 4. Find out all you need to know about living in Canada - schools for the children (if you're married and have children), cost of living, rent, location you intend to live in, schools you plan to attend and the programs. 5. Work on your resume to fit into the Canadian style. 6. Start to build network you'll find helpful when you eventually settle. I find LinkedIn especially helpful for me here. 7. Be grateful whatever stage you are knowing that "this too will pass" 8. Never be discouraged. Be positive and expectant. Where there is a will, there will always be a way. 9. Don't cut corners or look for short-cuts. Whatever you're trying to do, chances are someone someone has done it before. Find that someone and glean from their experience. Nairaland is particularly helpful here. 10. Avoid negativity. Stay away from people who are negative. Sometimes, it's best to ignore an insult and just walk past. Don't let low people drag you down to their level. Walk the higher way, show the light, be positive. Don't take life too serious and remember, everything happens for a purpose. I wish you all the very best and thanks again to the brains behind this platform. It will end in PRAISE! Stay safe! Stay blessed! 94 Likes 8 Shares |

Hi Gurus in the house, pls I need a clear answer to this mind troubling question. Assuming I enter the pool with 450 and the current point to get ITA is 470. Is it possible the 450 goes up automatically at some point while in the pool without, adding another certificate to augment it ? Thanks 2 Likes |

Goldin321: Scores only goes down in the pool, once you clock a new age, you’d be losing five points. For 450 to reach 470, you definitely have to do other things to boost your points. 3 Likes |

Is it possible the 450 goes up automatically at some point while in the pool without, adding another certificate to augment it ? Thanks
Nope you just keep losing points as you age. However your score can be adequate if the draw scores miraculously drop. Your score will automatically go up if you : add another certificate consider the French option (TEF) ace IELTS get PNP have a sibling in Canada. I believe miracles happen, but there's need to put in the work. |
