Aussiejoan can you please highlights some of the food stuff that can be brought, perhaps the ones you took along when you're leaving Nigeria. I read that Australia has strict rules when it comes to what can be taken into the country.
Can foods like rice, beans, spaghetti, grounded pepper, palmoil, Maggi, salt and the likes be carried along without any issue.
Your effort in creating and contributing to this group is appreciated.

There's no naija foodstuff that you can't find here, just that it maybe expensive and very far from your location, never thought that i will ever see snail, periwinkle and red beans here.

I saw the signage "if you need snail contact this number" at Nulan food, out of curiosity i contacted the number and turn out to be real. If you're in Victoria, i can give you her contact just that her location is far (Melton), it took me about 45mins.

Getting a Job.

I just got to know of an app named mable and hireup.
I don't really know much about hire up but I can tell you some things about it.
MABLE
PROS
* You set your wages
* You set your working time and location
* You don't need to have the cert 3 and 4 in aged care, individual support and disability(although I must say there will be of higher advantage to you)

CONS
These are not really cons because the benefits outweigh them nevertheless
* You need these certificates
1. CPR and first aid( I got mine for $75 for both)
2. You need an ABN( it's free)
3. You need Working with Children Check to be approved(its about $126 thereabouts)
4. You need references. If you want to work as personal care, you'll need professional references: if you don't have such you can do others which doesn't require professional references but references from either a colleague or someone in the profession.

No both I have CPR, first aid and working with children check.
I also have white card,police check and am doing forklift license now.

Check your CV well bro and hope for the best and you can check for jobs around Newcastle and hunter region, I believe there are more jobs around this area.

CV and cover letter is vital. For example, If you are searching for job in Forklift, make sure all your work experiences and references are in Forklift or something similar. Same goes with cover letter.

If you no get experiences, try find way to arrange for 9ja. Oftentimes this guys want experience workers.

I don't think it's feasible to get the certificates before leaving from the agencies I've come across with and I've never heard of Australian agency on Disability program ( or are you talking about the regulating body)

As someone pointed check your CV and resume, also use Zety dot com for your resume, that was what I got and I was invited to lots of interviews.
Another thing is get to know people, connection works. Check with your local church as well.

Go to blue cross website, they are always advertising vacancies ( FSA and others)


NB: A lot of windows are being closed on we internationals.......ranging from getting your certificates and all that so I would advise you to get your certificates as soon as you can.
