man the control of jews sometimes sounds like myth but it true...
It's no myth. Those Jew bastards are more influential than most think.
They are behind many national champion corporations in Europe and America: from the likes of Estee Lauder to Home Depot to Tesco to Marks and Spencer to Facebook and many more.

Even in Kenya, they run your coffee industry and one of them was once the Mayor of Nairobi. Talking of vast shadows. But I think they've earned their place in history. They know how to build wealth and insulate themselves after what happened to them in Germany.

why can't african countries produce chocolate? Like mass production, that would maximize revenue instead of selling raw material and still buy its final products at higher price.

West Africa needs to build chocolate businesses and stop being just cocoa exporters to Europe. The Swiss and Belgians make more money from cocoa than entire west Africa does. We can not continue to be like Kenya that exports best grade coffee to import poor quality nescafe. grin

We should set high standards for making chocolate in West Africa even if it means sending people to understudy the Europeans and Americans. We can never be rich this way. The Wes has mastered the art and science of creating wealth and that's why they are so powerful. The African continent refuses to change from its status of being a source of natural resources for the rest. That's why Africans are poor and starving. A case study is Kenya.

The Bible says in Proverbs 10:15
The wealth of the rich is their fortified city while the poverty of the poor is their destruction.

Until Africans realize the importance of the quoted, the rest will continue to destroy Africa commercially!

Finally, you're starting to see the light. Kenya has a long way to go - but it ahead of West Africa - in value addition. Instead of banning imports alone - also start to ban export of raw materials - and start to export value-added goods.

Let me give you one example. Macademia nuts. Kenya has increased production 10 fold in 10 yrs...and is now 3rd biggest producer after Australia and South Africa..and this after we banned the export of raw nuts.

The same is true in many crops - avocados - name it - coffee is out - waste of time when you don't have Brazil kind of land - and we are focussed on high value crops.

Finally you started to use your brains. You have the market dominance. You can decide anything. You can even ask Chocolate markers to go round Accra naked and they will. They cannot produce Chocolate without your cocoa beans and paste.

In fact just so they respect you - you should ask them to go round Accra dancing naked - so they can be allowed to buy them beans.

But more important than asking for premium - just ban the export of raw beans and paste - and agree as ECOWAS - and they will dismantled their factories the same way - and ship them to Accra and Abidjan.

And every farmer will start driving a car and living a middle-class life.

As for gold - Just have a few Chinese gold gangs killed in macabre way possible - and they will never think about Ghana.

It's very annoying. It seems as if there is a plot to keep Africa down. Don't be surprised to know that many of the cocoa, tea, coffee and palm oil plantations in Africa are actually owned by Europeans and Americans. These same people will never set up companies here that can make such products from such commodities that can be exported to Europe.

Let me cite an example. Cadbury is in Lagos. Very huge factory. They make substandard Bournvita for the Nigerian market which they never export, then import chocolate from their factories in Europe to sell in Nigeria.

When you ban the export of raw beans, raw nuts, and unprocessed oil - they will come crawling on theirs fours. Srilanka banned the export of unbranded tea - and their tea earning doubled. But this has to be coordinated - btw countries.

so, if this is the case, why can't African govt build industries to produce these things? Should we always wait for developed nations to wipe our asses? Its understandable if we can't produce high tech equipment or life-saving vaccines.... But chocolate, come on.

Its just slavery of d mind, worse than physical slavery.

Building a brand is the most difficult part of a business. You can produce the tastiest of chocolate but in super-market shelves - it will be ignored. The big brands spend billion dollars on advertisements and have history backing them. So the best option is to have chocolate makers relocate to Africa and bake them here....brand them anything...get taxed here..and provide employment here. One single job from Nestle factory will support 10 Ghanians.

The governments of Africa can never do it! With the kind of leaders we have? Is it Buhari that disappears for months or is it Kenyatta that is drunk most of the time? grin

If it's going to happen it has to be private sector driven. Imagine if an Adenuga or a Dangote put their interest in such stuff. Kenyans don't have that kind of muscle except for their Indians.

Look at Bangladesh for example, from textile export alone, they make as much as $36bn last year and created many jobs. Imagine if Nigeria could add an extra whopping $ 30bn to our export revenue from non- oil exports. We won't be disturbed about oil price crash anymore. So I agree with you, it doesn't have to be high- tech stuff.

Ghana covid 19 story so far......

Ghana has so far tested 100,622 people for the Covid-19. Out of that number 1,550 have tested positive, 155 have recovered and 11 deaths.

Ghana and South Africa are the top countries in Africa that have tested more people for covid-19.

Ghana has covid-19 death rate of 0.70% (11 death out of 1,550 cases) and is one of the lowest in the world.

source ....Ghana health service

Ghana doing well

Egypt came to the party late after a week theyll surpass Ghana in terms of tests

I don't always support this move seeing what European companies have done in d continent, some even go to d extent of infiltrating d govt to manipulate policies, they don't even pay the right tax, some evade and alter their books for this reason... I've seen much.

Building a brand isn't quite easy as u've rightly said but I believe Africa itself is a huge market, these things can be traded in d continent for a start.... I'm very sure South America will buy from us too.

Just halt or reduce cocoa exportation and produce locally.

You don't seem to get it. Nestle is in Ghana and Nigeria and yes, they are big. But they will never make products here that they can export to the West.
The companies have to be owned by Africans. And they need to make products that the West will want. Exports Exports Exports. That's what is going to make Africa rich. Bangladesh and Vietnam are doing it.

We deceived ourselves in Africa in the 70s when we set up a few companies for import substitution. It doesn't work that way. A Frenchman said: You don't plan not to be dominated. You fvcking plan to dominate.

I am not talking about import substitution. I am talking Nestle setting a factory in Ghana but exporting the finished product instead of getting raw beans.

It's foolhardy to imagine anybody outside Africa will buy Made in Ghana or Nigeria that easily (a Country BRAND -RCC kind of thing) - so if it Nestle selling their premium chocolate - nobody cares where it's made - and with time - local companies like Dangote will come up and compete with the Lafrages of this world - at least in Africa - but it;s a stretch to imagine that Dangote can compete with cement brands of Europe or US.

And all Nigeria, Ivory and Ghana govs need to do is to wake up and announce that they have banned the export of raw cocoa beans. That is all it takes. There will be a six-month disruption of the market - but eventually when the big chocolate makers see they are serious - they will dismantle their factories - and move to Africa.

For other products where you don't enjoy monopoly or dominance - then its hard.

The private is afraid. Maybe when you make your millions. grin

But to be honest, the private sector is coming up. For example, Foodco supermarket, an Ibadan based supermarket slept for many and had only two outlets until shoprite hit Ibadan with two stores. This pushed foodco into a frenzy and now they have eleven stores that are doing well. They are almost as strong as shoprite in Ibadan.

My friend - Nairobi - has more stores than the whole of west Africa combined. We are only second to South Africa. Btw the 3 top supermarket - they have about 200 stores - mostly in Nairobi. And we have many small player. If we had Nakumatt that would be 300 stores. And these are large stores....in malls.

Formal retail trade is one way to get out of poverty. It helps consumers, the manufacturers, and the gov - the economy. Yes, Kenya is making incredible progress formalizing it's retail trade. While West Africa - you still have a million shops doing nonsense two stores can do

Kenya is approaching 40% - and once we go as high as 80% - we will be at south africa level.
