Only a stark raving senseless looooonatic will advocate for lockdown extension.

The current lockdowns are a sham. They are NOT working. They CAN'T work!

Corruption is not allowing palliatives to get to the vulnerable. Even then, more people are becoming vulnerable by the day and Nigeria is not rich enough to provide for all.

Many workers won't be paid for April. How will they survive

Now, our economic crisis is staring us in the face due to the current price of crude oil. Can we afford to remain on lockdown

Coronavirus in NOT for Africa! MOST of the confirmed cases will recover with little or no treatment.

I mean, the LORD God has been so good to us. Why are we suffering ourselves

If all the hard-hit nations had to show after having the Coronavirus in their country since January is 35 deaths, I bet you the would have long-stopped talking about the virus.

Stay at home minimise the chances of contacting it. Maybe I ll need to remind how crowded Oshodi and other places are. Imagine if only one Covid-19 patient should visit any public place, how many will contact it and in turn take it home and also reinfects others. Please let not allow our anticipated plans or endeavours to becloud our reasoning.

Also Imagine if out of the crowded oshodi a higher percentage had the face masks on - we can be saying it will do this or that ... but we haven't critically looked into it.

Second phase of lockdown every area in Lagos was in scare of 1million boys - due to the lockdown , salaries haven't been paid, due to the lockdown, production is at its lowest - due to d lockdown.

So every country will to have to weigh its options and take chances with other methods of staying safe

It will do the same effect a lockdown would have done - Spread the infection over a longer period so as not to stress the fragile health care system

So in your opinion, we should open everywhere and let everybody infect everybody, since the tests done are Still low?

If the government won't protect you, won't you protect yourself?
Social distancing and wearing of masks should be encouraged, government should increase sensitization among the locals especially in crowded places like markets, churches and mosques should remain closed.

What is the assurance that the government will increase testing if the lockdown is extended? I think you already know of the increase of criminal activities in Lagos and Ogun. The approach FG employed is "Lockdown and InshAllah" which cannot sustain the country.

We are in two difficult situations
1.Lift lockdown, the infection will multiply by the thousands considering how our Nigeria urban centre is structured, Social distancing cannot work
2. Keep lockdown, people will die of hunger, cos no palliative anywhere,
Both choices are hard.
It's really pathetic.

My problem is not food. I'm just tired of being indoors. That said, we can't be locked down forever.

I would have said the lockdown should be maintained, but there are too many people who are in need of food and other things that can't be gotten if they are locked in.

If only government was testing enough, and had provided enough palliatives. But they are not and there is no indication that they'll increase testing.

I am for lockdown but since it is clear NIgerians for whatever reason will not enforce the lockdown, Therefore reluctantly, I say open it up, let the pandemic run wild. Let it prune out the dumb and let’s know who is left standing.

I am prepared to stay at home for as long as it takes. Nobody coming in nobody going out.

In any event our population has become more of a hinderance than an asset.

You're also very selfish.

Are you considering those starving to death due to the lockdown?
Broda
Are you considering the fact that hospitals and health workers will be overburdened and at risk if the lockdown is lifted?
If you know anyone that's hungry around you, feed the person.
If Nigeria were a normal country, people shouldn't have been complaining of hunger.
At least let the curve flatten before you think of lifting the lockdown.

wow..thats nice..

then when the poor are unable to feed... get ready for massive unrest in the state...

Then u'll Understand government of the people

Just stop it! It's mob mentality to believe hunger leads to unrest. I don't understand why people attribute hunger to armed robbery and civil unrest?
A hungry man would rather beg for bread than buys a gun and use it to burgle shops or rob others. If someone tells you he robbed because he was hungry, he is telling a lie. He already had the spirit and and an intention backed by motive.
It's easier to acquire N100 bread than acquire weapons for unrest.

Option 1 is no issue because MOST of the confirmed cases are NOT showing any symptoms and they will recover with little or no treatment.

The sham lockdowns have not solved anything!

If we here to be hard-hit by the virus like US, UK and co, by now, we would all have been dead!!

Why is everyone attacking that izzou fella?

He simply stated his mind, can't we just talk about things objectively without looking for people to blame?

I saw someone asking to send account number for some transfer of funds, my question to you fellow is did he work his money for you?

Stop being such a bitter bunch and think before typing, state your reasons why you think the lock down should be lifted or continued not attack a fellow who has simply spoke his mind.

Y'all deserve the leaders you get.

You are comparing Nigeria to Sweden?

Sweden's economy is far better than ours. Their leaders are not as clueless as most of ours. Sweden had a better healthcare than Nigeria. They probably have equipped hospitals and better response to emergencies. They probably have conducted more tests than Nigeria, and are not corrupt. Above all, if they call for a lockdown, their citizens will most probably not flout the order

This is the country you are comparing with Nigeria?

This is much more than face mask sir, our people don't even know the principles of using face mask, face mask is only but one of the many preventive method. Seen people with face mask, remove it to eat, what happens to there hand that might has been in contact with contaminated objects. You and I know that Nigerian can not keep to the precautive methods. We are not literate enough for it. Na Agberos u want ask to wear face mask? #StayHome #StaySafe

A few hundred Nigerians who travelled in from abroad refused to self-isolate for 14 days and brought this on us. Do you really believe 200 million Nigerians will use face masks, wash hands and practice social distancing?

You dnt even have to reply, just ask yourself.

It's easy to find ppl without facemasks so they can be prosecuted. But ones who travelled, how do u know the did?

Since our country of over 200 million people has only carried out 10,000 tests in a whopping 4 weeks.

We've not even tested up to 0.5% of our population.

I once said we locked down to early, we should have waited until 5,000 people died first.

When everyone knows a friend, colleague, neighbor or family member that died, they want enforce anything. They will beg for a lockdown or social distancing.

I wonder who begged Italy and Spain in the end
Both are opening already

So u believe a hungry person who is locked inside wouldn't come out and fight...

is it everybody that will like to beg

Look at the effect the lockdown is already havin on the economy...

Nigeria is going down in recession and u want to continue the lockdown

Don't be an asshole. There's more than 10,000 cases in Kano alone. We aren't just testing enough.
How can we have 10,000 cases when the total tests done is about that number?

1. Thanks for calling me an asshole.

2. How do you know that there are 10000 cases in Kano? Do you have telepath level powers?

3. On a more serious note, the truth is, I think we should loosen things up. But the fact is , there is the threat of the thing getting out of control, and as a medic, it concerns me. A lot.
