2ndly, if the movement is truly curtailed during this period the curve would be truly flattered. A security man went to Kano and back during the last 2 weeks and one of the people that died recently travelled from Lagos to Ondo. If movement is truly halted be sure Nigeria would be out of the wood.
Economic crash is inevitable but I trust and believe Nigeria and Nigerians to bounce back stronger than before.
If 100,000,000 Nigerians get infected and 5% of that number dies which includes the parent of your enemy, siblings of a hater and kids of a known enemy just so we all can get infected to develop a medically unconfirmed immunity for getting reinfected?
So what exactly is your point?

Are you not also indirectly agreeing that the lock down has failed!

After four weeks of supposed lock down with no attempt to draw out a plan to end the lock down, cases of coronavirus have risen to the extent that majority of those leaving Lagos for other states now have Corona virus.

Lockdown only if both states and Fg will provide reasonable palliative items not all this audio one.

We need to contain the virus once and for all

But if no sustainable relief materias from government, then expect people to defy order.

Hunger kills faster than Coronavirus

BTW, what is happening in Kano?
they wont provide nothing.

It should be partially lifted considering the fact that some states have just started the internal lockdown. It would be difficult to choose option2 , except there is another preferarable alternative.

Partial lockdown for now.

God bless you.

Guy see I like your analytical reasoning but I think it's not for everyone, your answer was so detailed that I had to read all the threads to read up on your follow up answers. Just ignore this people.

As at April 1st we had less than 200 cases
As at April 26th we have over 1000 cases

Make we dey see as e go first.

Sincerely, i do not wish people to die of hunger or anything.

Nigeria has a poor healthcare system. We are not even running enough tests everyday. A city as big as Kano has a 600 bed isolation center. If this virus spreads, its still the poor that will suffer it. Is it a man living in a one room apartment that will self-isolate?

If they lift it? No wahala. Until one loses his relative to this nonsense, we may not know how it feels

does the country have the manpower to enforce restrictions when the security are the ones allowing people to travel across all these checkpoints after collecting 1000 per vehicle, as a health worker i travel between local governments and i can tell you exactly what happens at these checkpoints, while a total lockdown will not work but some form of modified restriction of movement will help.
look at oyo state which never had any lockdown and compare the number of cases with other states on lockdown. we will eventually develop herd immunity to covid that i know.

Let it not look like I'm pessimistic.

The same Nigerians screaming for the removal of the lockdown will enforce it on themselves when shiit hits the fan

Oga nothing is reaching any fan, let them lift the lockdown! We’ll survive.

For me, I still support the LOCKDOWN for the next one month

Let us sacrifice this little time and see the curve flatten to a reasonable extent.

Nigerians sef are not helping. Stay at home, everyone is screaming hunger (which is true). But isn't it better to feel hunger, than see your loved ones die because of something without cure?

Face masks can be enforced, but it's difficult for Social distancing to be. From markets, to banks, to busstops, to churches, to everywhere....Only walking along Idumota or Obalende sef na wahala

If this lockdown is lifted, na God hand we dey. NCDC are already overburdened despite thelockdown. Imagine when it's lifted

This is a very big risk to be taken on Monday. God will see us through
This one get plenty money for house

We trusting our people to obey simple laid down rules is the first steps in building a nation. We cannot distrust our people and expect them to become developed and be civilised. No wonder Nigerian politician are contracting out simple task that can be done by citizens to foreigners. This mentality of judging our people incapable of simple tasks need to stop.

Your country isn't ready yet. You're locking people down, how many tests have you r country carried out to ensure the curve is flattened as soon as possible?
That’s why u can never compare Nigeria with Sweden because if not for the lockdown by now they would have already be state of emergency everywhere in the country expecially in Lagos

but why kill the economy for a lockdown that is not being enforced?

aren't you reading the news of people out and about in various streets?

Just case the highways look empty, it doesn't mean people aren't outside. I was shocked when I came out one evening and saw an insane amount of people outside in my area jogging, strolling, gisting outside.

Even when receiving palliatives, the masses form crowds. Did you see the recent crowd of people in Lekki waiting for food?

Even thieves are still crowding, did you see the video in Kano of crowds stealing rice from food delivery trucks?

So on one hand you kill our economy, on the other hand, you implement a lockdown that is a sham. It's a lose lose situation.

You really hit the nail on the head.

Those defending this seemingly failed Lockdown that it should continue are doing it from mere ignorance or they are gaining from it by business contract as a palliative supplier or they have sufficient food and money stocked up somewhere.

Other Nigerian live from hand to mouth.

They survive on daily income.

How are these groups of vulnerable Nigerian going to survive on if the lockdown is prolonged given the way both state and federal government is adding or extending the lockdown imposed on states by two weeks?

Meanwhile, the Nigerian economy that is facing its worse state following a huge drop in crude oil price can not endure further lockdown of the economy over the government plan to curb coronavirus spread.

Small shops in India and Germany are being told to open for business.

I strongly want the lockdown to be stopped and the government open the economy to business.

Stay at home minimise the chances of contacting it. Maybe I ll need to remind you how crowded Oshodi, Yaba, Mushin, Iyana Ipaja and other public places are. Imagine if only one Covid-19 patient should visit any public place, how many will contact it and in turn take it home and also reinfects others. Please let not allow our anticipated plans or endeavours to becloud our reasoning.
So? It is not a dead sentence. People recover from it.

You obviously don't understand the essence of the lockdown.

The lockdown is to reduce the spread and discover the infected ones. The reason you have an increased number is because they have increased testing. When the lockdown started, only Lagos and Abuja was testing. Today, more than 10 states are testing

If you run 50,000 tests this evening, you'll definately see over 2000 that are infected.
Does it mean the number is increasing? No

It means you just discovered potential carriers. But then, lets remove the lockdown. and see the numbers reduce drastically(according to you)
Nah

You the one that doesn't understand the purpose of a lock down, sorry to say.

Lock down is ensure that community spreading is limited, hence countries with a plan to implement the lock down have succeeded in limiting the spread..

in addition, they also provided very little social safety net because they have no idea or resources to implement social security that would

Lock down is seen by some countries as the best way to ensure social distancing as prescribed by the WHO and because the disease is airborne.

Lock down is to ensure that community to community spread is limited.

Hence, countries with a plan to implement the lock down have succeeded in limiting the spread..

However, the government in Nigeria had no plan or resources to implement an effective lock .

They have tested very little and isolated even less, hence the cases keep rising.

In addition, they also provided very little social safety net because they have no idea or resources to implement social security that would enable people observe the stay at home order.

We need an innovative method to ensure we implement social distancing that is effective for us.

Its like i used too much vocabulary

The purpose of the lockdown is to reduce the spread, while they fish out those infected, and they will achieve that through testing

Because the numbers are increasing doesn't mean its spreading. It means that they are increasing the number of tests done.

Like i said, let them remove it. The confirmed cases will probably drop to 50 before Friday, since the lockdown is increasing it

So, i guess the 80,000 deaths in the USA should be insignificant then.

Or what do you think?

So you rather healthy people die cos of lock down from a virus that kills only the old and vulnerable.

While your chances of passing on from covid 19 go up if you are 'old and vulnerable', that does not mean that someone younger could not die...and it has happened.

Vulnerable means people with underlying illness. They could be young or old. It's not 100 percent that these set of people will die, they just have a higher risk of dying

With the current mind-boggling trend of confirmed cases in the past one-week it is evident that there is fire on the mountain.

It is really getting out of hand and I doubt if relaxing the lockdown will not be counterproductive.

So if numbers are increasing what exactly does that mean?

Covid19 only takes 15 days incubation period to manifest itself, but in 27 days cases have moved from 50 to 600 and you claim the virus is not spreading

People are moving from Lagos, Abuja and Ogun state to Other states within that period to spread to other states and you claim it's not spreading.

It's like you don't understand my earlier comment

Lock down is the simplest method of practicing social distancing by some countries with effective social security systems

Nigeria doesn't have the means or ability to implement a lock down that is effective so we need a new method of social distancing that is innovative
