Hi Twinkleberyl,

Did you get your job with an agency, private individuals or direct care company? Also, I read about you getting few interviews, can u share ur experiences concerning it?
Thanks

Please go to the pilot's website and read carefully...you dont draft the offer letter. Theres a form there (theres a list of up to 6 or so forms there that you need to download from the website and fill on a computer, print and sign).
The offer is made to you using a form called the offer of employment IMM 5893. It contains questions about the employmemt that the government wants to know about..wages, hours a week, live in arrangement, vacation, etc

Your prospective employer might find it difficult to open this form if they dont have the latest adobe program. What i did was to open it on my computer, print it and scanned it to my employer. They filled it out by hand and sent back to me by email. I now entered the information that they sent into the form on my computer, printed, sent the document to them to approve, then they signed the last page and returned it to me for my own signature. That way, they have a copy of the typed Employment offer IMM 5893 for their records and i have a copy to submit along with my application.

I wrote about this on my blog
Even the list of forms is in my blog, though i encourage you to visit the official government site regularly especially if you are ready to submit your application to get the most updated versions of the forms. You need to download on a computer (get the latest version of adobe so that you can open the forms), fill out on your computer, validate (this produces a bar code page that you must include with the forms), print & sign. If u dont sign your forms they will return your application to u.
[Hello

Please can the child care 1 year diploma certificate be evaluted by WES as the expected 1 year post high school qualification?

quote author=Twinkleberyl post=88646164]

Firstly, to get into Canada to work as a caregiver, you have 2 options:
1. Work outside the province of Quebec:
The only way here if you are applying from outside Canada is through the home child care or home support worker immigration pilot. Requires: ielts clb 5, 1 year post secondary and a job offer. No LMIA required. Live in may not be neccessary. You can arrive Canada with your family

2. Work in the province of quebec;
The only way here is through the temporary foreign worker program for live in caregiver and it requires that your employer submits an LMIA to hire you. Requires 9 months caregiver training or 1 year paid caregiver work experience. You may not be able to arrive Canada with your family because all you will be getting is a temporary work permit that will expire in 2 years and you will need to show that you have something or someone that ties you back to your home country or convice the Visa officer that you will return back to your country at the expiration of your work permit. Though its possible to extend it or apply for permanent residence in Quebec after at least 1 year of working in Canada.
Live in may not be mandatory.

If an employer wants to sponsor or pay for your relocation costs, they will tell you or it will be spelt out in the job contract.
Live in arrangement for a caregiver arriving with family...you may have to find out from your employer what type of arrangement they have for you...cos it could be just a room in their house or a basement apartment. But its something your employer has to clarify themself.
Oh yes, this helps a lot, thank you so much for always responding promptly and extensively. I have purchased 2 courses, child care and kitchen management, got the discount coupon as well and paid for the PDF certificates, thank you.

Please any chance you know about any legit online academy I could get the 1 year post high school certificate (diploma) that will be accepted by WES for evaluation?
Thanks always for your help

Twinkleberyl:

Hi
To enrol in any of the courses you need to put the course in the cart (the basket icon). Then you get into the cart and pay from there. Theres also a promotion code on the home page of the course website that gives you discount on the course price.

The 1year quoted there means that you have access to the website for 1year to study the course materials, after 1 year you will loose access.

No, you cannot use this course to fulfill the 1year post secondary education requirement. What this course will help you achieve is the proof of your ability to do the job. We dont have any/much caregivers training programs in Nigeria. So these courses will help you prove that you have the professional know how. You should also get a volunteer job in a daycare (if you want to pursue home child care immigration pathway) or nursing home/hospital/home care agency (if you want to pursue home support worker immigration pilot). All of these will help you prove to the case processing officer that you have the know how and little work experience to do the job.

I hope this helps.

One thing i know about this pilot is that it does not require any proof of fund. It is actually the only immigration work permit pilot with NO PROOF OF FUND.
However, you need the following things:

1) Canadian styled Resume with a Canadian Phone Number
2) LinkedIn account with a professional profile picture
3) Professionally crafted Cover Letter
4) IELTS Exam with at least 5 Band Score (#75k)
5) Qualification assessment with WES(Canada)(#65K)
6) Free Certificate exam in First Aid, CPR and AED(Optional but better). Check out www.firstaidforfree.com

If anybody is interested in Home Support Work Pilot, i can post some job links here for you to apply. Just indicate interest.

I'm interested, your help would be appreciated.

Happy to be of help.

Online academy most definitely won't be Nigerian and if its not Nigerian, expect to pay a lot of money. If you have cash to spare i would suggest Canadian online schools, that way you wouldnt even need an ECA anymore because ECA are for people with foreign credentials.
For cheap non canadian online schools that WES can assess that will require a little research.

Can someone explain this experience requirement? Does it mean the person must have been working as a caregiver in Nigeria of what?

This information is for those who have previouse working experience in the said occupations before they submit their application, it could be in Nigeria or anywhere in the world.

If you don't have previous experience you can still apply but you must prove to the Visa Officer that you can do the job through an accepted training or personal experience on any of the said occupations.

In both cases you must receive a valid Job Offer from a Canadian Citizen or Permanent resident or a Canadian Registered caregiver Company before you apply.

A little correction. The "qualifying experience" means experience that you obtained inside Canada. So if you have worked 2years full time in caregiving inside canada, instead of applying for work permit, you are to apply straight to permanent residence and if they verify and find this to be true, you will be granted permanent residence.

If you have less than 2 years qualifying work experience ie you worked in Canada less than 2 years, you apply for extension or adjustment of your workpermit (so that you can complete the required 2years) and permanent residence..but your permanent residence will only be granted after you have completed the required 2years.

If you dont have any qualifying work experience..meaning you have never worked in Canada as a caregiver before or probably never worked as a caregiver anywhere else before, you will apply for both work permit and permane nt residence at the same time too, but must complete the required 2 years before you are granted the permanent residence.

If its a caregiving course, yes you can use it to show ability to do the job.
City and guilds is a CPD course provider.

You do not need to evaluate care giving training certificate but at least one year post secondary certificate.

Have you done the diploma in health and social care by City and Guilds already? Where did you do it? I'd like to do same as I know City and Guilds are respected.

What WES evaluates are certificates that you obtained as part of a traditional for credit (eg 12, 30, 60, 120 credit unit) study
These courses at john's academy, london's city & guild, reeds etc are all cpd (continous professional development) courses that help you build or enhance work place skills.

Online for credit studies are not as cheap as cpd courses. Be prepared to spend thousands of dollars or pounds sterling.
The most popular ones:
The Open University (UK)
Athabasca university (Canada)
Walden University (USA)

It might be possible to get 1year certificates from these online schools that will be evaluated by WES.
