One thing to add.
Face masks are not to protect you from catching it. They are to stop you from spreading it

Thanks for this addition .. So if we all use face mask we can control the spread since some are carriers witout symptoms, if I understand ur addition

Not disputing that. It's accurate information. I'm saying quote your sources. Some of it is verbatim online. Same as when we come down on people giving car advice

Lifeless
Yet fighting for survival?

But why do they die off after some time without a host?

They share something that resembles life: the genetic material (DNA or RNA). They are not classified as living cells because of the other components missing in their make up.

When they invade a cell, a process of copying their genetic material (transcription) takes place using the host's mechanism. In the process, you can have a copy that is not exactly like the original one, hence a slightly different virus as product. That is what we call a mutation. Every process is down to the genetic material.

It is not exactly because they are alive and can direct the process. At least, that's what scientists believe.

The reason why they "die" off after a while is what makes viruses peculiar. It is just the way they are configured. After a while, without a living host, the entire structure collapses.

Maybe. I doubt if it will be verbatim though. But facts stay as facts since it is science and not humanities. Some things are basic and cannot be changed.

My sources are my books.

It's a grey area and the scientific community is split on this topic. Sort of like Schrodinger's cat. There is no consensus. Happy?
They better reach a consensus, life or no life.

Concerning line, I have come to understand people use the face mask wrongly or the face mask gotten is not of the right material (I have been researching on use of face mask)

When using face mask
1. Do not always adjust the face mask - any time u touch your face mask wash hands or sanitize immediately

2. When removing your face mask, don't pull from d front, pull off ur face masks from the elastic bands

3. Face masks use is roughly 8hours interval then change (from experts)

4. For homemade face masks, materials should be very good ones with additional filter layer (helps control small and large droplets from escaping or entering)

Pls add more if you know any

Bro according to you diagram - clothe masks are 0% protective virus ?
Hmmm that's what 98% of lagosian are wearing even some use handkerchief. You mean it's a waste of time ?
If that is true then lockdown go long oohh
People wey never chop go fit buy N95 ?

So it seems..

But upon further research, I realised an ingredient is missing in some DIY face masks sold ... A NON WOVEN filter material - this helps to increase protection level and holds small n large droplets from moving in and out

I am producing face masks for free distribution, so I have been researching

Ma but WHO says we should wear mask , sanitizer and avoid touching our face to protect us from getting infected.
I also want to ask
What of doctors and ncdc staffs that wear only N95 mask ? Are you saying they are not protected?

Don't mind those with photocopied knowledge of other people's hard work pretending and displaying themselves like they're smart and intelligent whereas they next to non.

How would you do copy n paste without giving any refetence? Isn't that wickedness?

Especially that shim that called herself sexy,

Another annoying thing self is how on earth will a quasimodo like her be crushing on a cute handsome, young, athletic, dark bold skin and intelligent educated young man like me?

In fact I'm so exasperated right now.

Viruses replicate by locking to the host cell, and taking over the host entire systems after a process of lysis. The host will naturally react to viral invasion by producing antibodies. Antibodies try to make the above process difficult by binding to the surface of the virus in an attempt to prevent attachment to the host cell. If it cannot attach, the virus cannot penetrate the cell, and replication won't take place. This is a natural evolutionary pressure on the virus.

In process of viral mutation, what mostly happens is that the component of that outer coat of the virus changes structure. Since most antibodies work by a "lock and key" kind of mechanism, if the coat of the virus changes, that specific antibody becomes useless. This process is also vital to the survival of the virus. Every organism wants to survive, just like you and me.

Most RNA viruses are generally more prone to mutation because in their replication process, there is no "proofreading and correction", as found in DNA viruses. Mutation is just a way to ensure their organism line survives. As you must have guessed COVID is a RNA virus along with HIV and influenza. In the face of threat, they simply reconfigure their outer coat and keep re infecting.

So yes, despite being non living, they can mutate and adapt.

Well done bro. When someone knows what he's saying, it shows. In my Warri voice "no be mouth". I'm no expert in this field, but some of us were trained to read people's mind and fish out the truth. You write from your heart. You know your field. Carry on.

Entry points are eyes, nose and mouth. The mask's only protective purpose is to keep you from touching those areas. Washing hands is the most effective protective measure. I can give you evidence if you want after I'm done with breakfast
