Man (mankind) is 6000 years old from the Genesis creation of man.

Earth is millions (if not billion) of years old. There was life on Earth before man was created. The gap between Gen 1:1 and Gen 1:3 when the earth was without form and it was void is the Ice Age.
Animals of which their fossils still remain were existing then. Man-like beings which scientists say are the ancestors of man (without proof cos dna sequence don't match) also existed. The souls and spirits of these destroyed man-like beings are what is today called "demons" (disembodied spirits).
