All that's needed is the number last two alphabets, the sequence is known to all.

Like someone said earlier, currently anything that starts from "G" is a new registration, last year it was "F" and it ended "FZ" late last year and "GA" began, next is "GB", then "GC" and so on.

Cheers cool

Bro, each time i go to the East (with unregistered cars) i spend well over 20k on police/customs settlement.

Don't know your routes, but once you turn right at Sagamu bypass to face Benin express the nightmare starts, police checkpoints almost every 2km stretch.

Now, we're all different, I can't leave my house 4am and want to still be on the road by 6pm, all cos i let police delay me over #200 settlements. If you don't want to pay, of course you won't pay, its all about scale of preference, which do you value more, your money or your time.

Calculate multiple #200 payments and FSARS will tell you they won't collect anything below #500, refuse and you'll be delayed. Imagine when 20 checkpoints take 30 mins each away from your journey, won't be funny

Last time I drove a car from Lagos to Abuja after clearing it, I met 3 customs check points and up to 35 police checks. Imagine leaving Lagos by 5.45 am and arriving Abuja at 11 pm, including a nasty 1 hour delay by FSARS somewhere close to Okpella. Which kind suffering be that one?

It can only be done by tweaking the system. Like getting a personnel from one of the Nigerian various forces... But then it can be hard too.

I am considering this

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA has issued guidance in MN 03/20/sN01 https://nimasa.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/COVID-19-Marine-Notice-IV.pdf
31 March: The country is under lockdown. The current restriction of movement in Lagos and Ogun States as well as the FCT is extended for another 14 days effective from 11:59 pm on Monday, 13 April.
The ports of Warri and Port Harcourt continue to operate normally are opened but activity challenged by the restrictions imposed by state on “social distancing”, logistic challenges to move around and “stay home” directives. There is no lack of stevedores for the time being. However the situation involves manpower and other challenges.
Ports Authority announced a suspension of demurrage/terminal storage fees and charges with effect from 23 March 2020.
All other port activities to do with crew, quarantine and disembarkation appear as before in spite of COVID 19. However crew changes are prevented by the closure of Lagos international airport.
9 April: The Lockdown Regulation does not apply to Lagos seaports as the President ordered all seaports in Lagos to remain operational subject to the Docking Directives (the “Operational Regulation”). Terminals at Lagos seaports (such as APM Terminal, PTML Terminal, ENL Terminals and SIFX Terminal) are complying with the Operational Regulation and implementing the Terminal Storage Waiver
15 April: Nigerian Ports Authority Lagos Pilotage District Notice to Mariners No.05 of 2020:

Every vessel calling at Nigerian Seaports from Covid-19 affected countries (France, Italy, Spain, Germany, UK, USA, China, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, South Korea, Australia, Turkey, Iran, Austria, Portugal, etc) will only be allowed into Nigerian Seaports when Port Health Service has established that the vessel was continuously sailing for a minimum of fourteen (14) days prior to arrival.
A vessel calling at a Nigerian Seaport from Covid-19 affected country and was at sea for only ten (10) days is expected to remain outside bar for four (4) days to complete fourteen (14) days before applying for Health Clearance from the Port Health Service.
A vessel that was continuously sailing from her port of departure for fourteen (14) days but called at a port in West Coast Country before arriving Nigerian Seaport will apply for Health Clearance from the Port Health Service in Nigeria on arrival.
A vessel that arrived West Coast Country and did crew changes is expected to report the same to the Port Control on arrival in Nigerian waters. The Ship’s Agent is expected to inform the Port Health Service of the crew changed before applying for the Health Clearance.

Tension as CBN increases exchange rate for cargo imports

There was unease in the seaports on Thursday following the recent increase of the exchange rate for import duty payment from N 326 per dollar to N 361.
Our correspondent gathered that in line with the increment , the Nigeria Customs Service has effected an increase in duty payable on cargoes imported through the ports

The development has caused tension at the ports as importers and freight forwarders who spoke with DAILY TREND NEWS lamented that they were being forced to pay duty far above what they had initially budgeted for .

Confirming the development , a port user , Frank Amasiaku said , “ I went to work today and at DTI( Direct Trade Input ) , I was about punching ( capturing) my work via the Customs portal , only for me to notice some changes in dollar ( Customs duty ) rate . “ For example , fixed dollar rate for vehicles before now was at N 326/ dollar but as of today , it has changed to N 361. ”

The Vice President , Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents, Dr Kayode Farinto, reportedly said the Customs had effected the changes without due consultation with relevant stakeholders .

He said the implication of the increment was that the cost of cargo clearance had increased .
The cost of products in the market would also be increased automatically , he added .

Meanwhile , the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority , Miss Hadiza Bala -Usman, has appealed to freight forwarders and owners of goods at the nation ’ s seaports to remove their cargoes. She disclosed that leading terminal operator, AP Moeller, had used up 90 per cent of its space to store goods .

Bala - Usman made the appeal in Lagos on Thursday , while fielding questions on the sidelines of the inauguration of two mobile harbour cranes recently acquired by the APM Terminal .

pls Dont try it for now it's extremely risky. I moved a car to PH waterline precisely because that was where the owner and i agreed to meet so i could get a bus back to lasgidi easily but what i went thru was crazy, the vehicle was almost seized from me and i spent over times three of what i was suppose to spend on a normal day still chopped koboko along warri-ughelli road like i have never b4 in my life and got there the next day. though the owner of the car later compensated me with 50k for the stress because it was a Toyota 4runner 2011.
