I agree with you on this. However, what if it's the Euro that is underpriced because people do not use Euro as much as the dollar in Nigeria. The Nigerian currency reserves stands at $33 Billion dollars as at today with 30% of that being owned by foreign investors. Back in 2016 when the price of oil crashed, The Naira jumped from 199 to 520 and finally settled at 360. This time around, our reserves are probably lower than that of 2016, and before now the Naira was trading at 360. If we use lessons from the past, the real value of the USD to Naira might be about 600 Naira per dollar. However like a wiseman said above, Nigerian is a country where politics is more important than the economy. The CBN could intervene and crash the rates down to 400, but the question is for how long? Their funds are limited. Russia also has an oil dependent economy much larger than Nigeria's. Russia also possesses more than $500Billion in their reserves. However their currency has lost about 20% value; from 63 ruble to a dollar in February to about 75 ruble to a dollar today. During the steep crash in march, the currency briefly touched 80 ruble to a dollar but has settled down at 74 due to intervention of their Central Bank. Even I still have some Naira Investment but yet to make up my mind on how to react. TotoNaRubber: 3 Likes |

Watch bbc news and see Lebanon...currently u can withdraw from your dorm accounts (suspended) the banks have used all the saving in dorm accounts to buy dollars bond issued by the govt ....now the govt doest have dollars to pay back ( cos they dont print dollars) so if u need u money (dollars) u have to collect the labanese pounds which is devalued by 60 percent...now with a huge dispoary community ...no body want to wire money into Lebanon....Nigeria is currently having same symptoms...unless crude oil goes back to 70 dollars 6 Likes |

Thanks for your advise, the part of the world where i live is very good in agribusiness and i am willing to learn here on the best way to do it, i actually have a cousin in Nigeria who is into it but in a small scale with about 5000 fishes, he said the business is so lucrative and have explained to me a bit how they do it, infact the profit margin he quoted was something insane that made me thinking if it is right to go into it while in Nigeria as i have lived most of my life abroad and planning to relocate to Nigeria soonest. emmanuelewumi: 3 Likes |

CBN just made the following announcement: In view of the gradual easing of the COVID-19 lockdown both globally and in Nigeria, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has resumed provision of foreign exchange to all commercial banks for onward sales to parents wishing to pay schools fees and SMEs wishing to make essential imports needed to revamp economic activities across the country. In particular, the CBN is resuming the provision of over US$100 million per week for both categories. https://www.proshareng.com/news/Forex/CBN-Resumes-Dollar-Sales-For-SMEs,-School-Fees/50743 |
