What do you mean by good sponsor? Yes, I have a sponsor to give me the statement of account to use. For ETSU the only important thing is the CGPA and I have 4.09/5.0 and I have IELTS too 7.5 overall, and GRE 301. I have over 4 years working experience too. I will await your response. Thanks
Pefuele:

EIU gave a GA with little deficits this fall.
Since you have not been rejected before you can book for interview with ETSU if you have a good sponsor & can articulate your points well.
Besides, what is your profile?

The most I got from them was that with a GA you will still need to show proof of funds to the tune of $20,000. That is why I am trying to seek opinion from Nigerian who did this in the past. Engineering Technology at ETSU to be precise
Pefuele:

Your deficits depend on your department. To have an idea of the tuition break down you need to send e-mail to the international admission office.

Which program? Mine is MS Technology and the Graduate Coordinator said you have to be done with a semester to be considered for GA. A new policy for the Technology program according to him.

What's your Quantitative score in GRE and what is your under-graduate degree? Have you been to the US before?

Biomedical Science is good. Master or PHD is good too. Usually all Master and PHD students get a job in campus, sometimes out of campus, financial help and career job offers, most of these students come with money (10-20K) for the start but after few months, they find ways to work and are supported financially (grants, etc). People like you are very welcome to US.

Send them more emails, now many stay at home (quarantine), maybe they can't access their emails from home. Also it's good to send the same email to other people from the same program, now all are staying home and they may fire the people (your program coordinator) or it's the new coordinator assigned. Don't be shy, email and ask, it will work.

About the sponsor, in my practice foreigners sometimes have hard times to be admitted if they have foreign sponsors or foreign accounts to support them, even cash is not good here. If you have a family or close friends (citizens or legal residents) willing to sign your university affidavit of support stating the SSN, tax income, it's easy to be accepted, means if you don't pay your tuition, your sponsor will.

Northeastern:

Any program that gives you an i20 enables you to go before a VO and make the case why you want a visa.

Let me ask you a question, can you gain an ABSN admission from Nigeria? If the answer is yes, then you would be issued an i20 and go for an interview.

Thank you very much for your response.

What of those that didn't write GRE because it has been waived because of covid-19?

Irrespective of COVID-19 you should take GRE. You can now do GRE at home.

Good Day Great People, l have been following this tread and l have really got enlightened. Please, l got accepted at Western Illinois University (WIU) to study Master in Computer Science but got no funding, l was informed Graduate Assistantship is only available for returning student and will require approximately $24k. My profile, in my Undergraduate l study Electrical & Electronics Engineering, GRE - 304, CGPA - 3.79/ 5, no working experience. My question is that is it still possible to get funding, l also want to know if l can try getting to the school in USA and sponsor myself for 1st semester is there a high chance of me getting funding second semester, lastly is the school a good school. Thank you for all your kind responses in anticipation.

Be ready to do a few prerequisites since you are switching from EE to CS. Hope you've talked this over with your program coordinator. For CS jobs, your skills are what matter most. So your choice of school should be fine.

Most schools have oncampus jobs you could apply for when you get to the campus. It's also possible to get a GA in another department. Since your program said they can't offer you a GA in the first semester, try and find out the requirements for getting it after that so you can plan accordingly.

Good day guys, how long does it take to be on a GA WAIT-LIST? My advisor said I’m on the waitlist. Anyone with similar experience? Georgia Southern Uni.

It took me a week to get off the waitlist ( I was first on the list though). Keep your hope alive. Hopefully, someone would reject the offer.

Good grades, your Nigerian professors letters of recommendation, your Nigerian family financial statements and, of course, a good career choice, your own letter why do you chose to study in US. It will help. I don't know if Nigerians in US have any grants for students, other nations have. Visit Fulbright and ask, their job is to give you information about studies, they also give grants, specially for Master or PHD.
Check here, visit them in person, if it's possible or email and ask lots of questions.

It depends on if someone declines their offer, how fast they decline it and what number you are on the wait list.

When I was waiting for admission in my school last year, the graduate director told me I was on the wait list and I got my acceptance letter the 3rd day.

Just keep in touch and let them know you're very interested
