First, Jesus never gave the order or command that anyone should fast for 40 days. Just point out to the word of Jesus when he gave the command that his followers must fast for 40 days.

Of course Jesus said his followers must fast and pray but he didn't say for 40 days. No human being today can go for 40days dry fast like Jesus did.

And also the way Jesus commanded us to fast is not the way you Muslims do your own fast today, you fast like hypocrites that Jesus talked about.
