Good Day Please find below, my thoughts on the matter. 1. Is the Return on Investment adjusted for inflation? Aside dividends, it should be noted that other forms of return include share price appreciation and bonus shares. 2. The entry price of a share directly impacts the dividend yield. Therefore, it pays to invest in fundamentally sound companies at appropriate prices. 3. Before considering diversification as a risk management strategy for your portfolio, pay attention to screening potential candidates for investment. What is the quality(fundamentals) of the company? Is the company well managed? This is necessary to get an idea of the earnings prospects of the company. 4. If the company is fundamentally sound, do further research to determine an appropriate entry price. A good company may not be a good investment if you buy its shares at a high price. To be honest, this is not as easy as it sounds because we’re human and prone to mistakes. 5. If you don’t mind, please read the following books for further insights: • One Up on Wall Street by Peter Lynch • How to pick stocks like Warren Buffet by Timothy Vick 6. Whatever strategy you decide to adopt, please do your homework before committing your funds in the market, as has been stated several times here. The Nigerian Capital Market is still developing and mechanisms for protecting investors from unscrupulous companies are not fully in place. Hope you find this post useful. RichEstate: 4 Likes |

RabbiDoracle: I remember saying earlier, that we may never see the kind of low we saw earlier on. If not for CoronaVirus, all this figures that Meshpips bandied around in the past may never have happened. If not for Covid-19, GTB would not have sold at N16plus, Zenith at N10.70 etc. TA doesn't take into account pandemics and macro-economic situation. I have also pointed out to him about the air of certainty he parades figures. Haven watched analyst at different levels including international TVs, none of them is ever sure, that's why they use the words like 'may, likely, there is a chance' etc. In all, all opinions are are welcomed but the way they presented is equally important. How do you see the Q1 negative growth in the US impacting the market? Germany's economy is also projected to go down by as much as 6%, ditto UK. Spain and Italy may be heading into a recession. All these might end up affecting a significant northward journey we may be expecting on the NSE. 5 Likes |

PharmAlfred: The Q1 has been priced in. Q2 has been priced in. At the end of September, if there is no speedy recovery, then that will be the Oso Abiola. It will show that the economic recovery isn't going well and could be protracted. I expect most countries to pick up in production. Gradually people will creep out from their homes and start spending. Abeg leave EU. Even before the virus, dem no try. Dem just dey find wetin to blame wey cause their recession. Q4 2019 (September till December) was negative, hope you are aware? was there virus then? No. I know they will blame the virus and that was why I pointed out long ago that they will enter R..... April 2020. We go dey look them like film. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Nobody: 8:30am On Apr 30, 2020 |
PharmAlfred: Another area I want you to look at is what is called EXPORTING INFLATION. In this crisis that US faces, they will print and print, other countries will print as well. You will naturally expect their economies to suffer hyperinflation. I have thought about it and it may not. Initially I was of the view that it will. Later I remembered what happened in 2008 till 2014 or so. Their inflation will be exported. All assets will be bidded higher worldwide. If Fed continues printing more and more, the money will go all around the world eventually. Dollar will weaken severely but EM, FM currencies will appreciate. They will be seen to be supporting their economies to get out of the recession and they will do it well. But the problem is when it is time to call back this cheap money that is all over the world, that is when the main global financial crisis will start. Any country dependent on the cheap money will be destroyed with stock market crashes. There will be fast liquidation of worldwide assets and severe currency depreciations. There will be signs of creaks then but the euphoria of the stock market rise will be too much that most will not notice it. 9 Likes 2 Shares |

RabbiDoracle: Good insight chief. I will look up this concept. I wish our economy and market can reasonably stand on its own, we will be able to absorb most shock waves from around the world. We lean too much towards US and EU. Even amidst this Covid-19, money seems to be finding its way to NSE. Are these monies that were already in Nigeria? If not, when they start to repatriate monies after reasonable cap. appreciation wahala go dey o. |

meshpips:I love the quality of your disagreement, it points to your maturity as a person and confidence in your knowledge/convictions. Like Rabbi opined above, we must all learn to keep our biases in check. At the risk of opening old wounds, it is pertinent to point out that all those who called out OGG a few days ago have turned a blind eye on UACN which went on full bid yesterday. Let me remind you that people who shine from within don't need spotlight. Enjoy your NSEMPA without OGG. Stcool the harbinger of bad news has refused to acknowledge that stocks like GTB and zenith has returned 10-15% in the last ten trading days. Time will vindicate us all. In the end it is only your honesty that will matter. Stand up for who you are and be honest about your feelings. In addendum: Veecovee, the person who compared you to shekau the terrorist may not be far from the truth even though the comparison might be harsh. You have been constituting a nuisance on this thread by seeking to impose your beliefs on members, when juxtaposed with shekau, there is no difference. where the use of a thing is not known abuse is inevitable. This is an investment thread, take your trade elsewhere. 9 Likes 1 Share |
