I think I agree with you. Remember China was a major key member of the Security Council that voted for his victory as the WHO president. So his loyalty may have been swayed.

It is not so much that he did not declare the virus as a pandemic on time, WHO's initial involvement was skeletal and China got him to treat the whole issue more as an in-house affair. Not so good for a global body. That is the anger if Trump.

And now here we are counting human losses every day. If everyone has under estimated the lethality and extensiveness of this virus, WHO as a watchdog should have operated at a much higher tempo, not taking chances, but that did not quite happen

He did by misinforming the world, especially the west. Even when it's proven that the virus can be spread by people who don't have symptoms, the guy was still advising checking temperatures and symptoms. He encouraged free movement. As countries realized their mistakes and started lockdown when it's obviously too late, he became a lockdown enthusiast without considering whether it's an economically viable option.

TAIWAN has released an email sent to the World Health Organisation (WHO) it claims shows an unheeded warning about the threat of the coronavirus.

WHO has come under fire as the government argued they sounded the alarm about cases of an unknown virus transmitting between people in Wuhan as early as December 31.

The email points out reports of patients being “isolated”.

Taiwanese health minister Chen Shih-chung argued this obviously refers to the risk of transmission at a press conference on Saturday in Taipei.

WHO can do more than rely on information fed it. It can navigate beyond that and carry out its own independent assessment of the situation to get a proper grasp of the situation. Did that happen? Your guess is as good as mine. Here lies the main crux of the matter.
