Its a south african company listed in ghana stock exchange

Just like BMW is German despite BMW SA being listed in JSE
BMW SA is part of the business environment of SA hence it is a South African company by establishment `
It activity forms part of the SA GDP and not Germany.

Mind you, we are not talking about ownership

If a company helps a country grow and develop thats good, it does not matter if its foreign or not

When ghana grows its good for citizens, the company hires people, others will accumulate wealth, others will reinvest into the economy.

Singapore never stress about foreign companies coming in in fact they rejoice, Singapore is now thriving

Thats my 2cents

Is ghana doing better? Is Kenya doing better?
What can each country do to make things better?
Who has better standard of living

Thats what should be the focus in my OPINION

You have a problem with English comprehnsion. Safaricom was formed as merger btw Kenya Gov (Telkom) -60% and Vodafone Kenya (40%). Vodafone kenya 40% was further split - with 10% given to Moi and Biwott as Kickback. So Vodafone owned 30%. The kenya gov sold 25% of it's 60% and remained with 35%. There are rumours the late Moi and late Biwott might have sold their 10% to Vodafone. And Vodafone have also sold their shares to South Africa Vodacom.
Too much story, liar. You claimed government of Kenya owns 60% until I busted you. grin They own a little over 30%.
rvp20182:

Right now both Gok and Vodacom are the majority shareholders of Safaricom - and rest are just little guys in the stock exchange.
Vodacom is owned by Vodafone. I guess you didn't know that. And Vodacom and Vodafone jointly own more than the government of Kenya. For every shilling safaricom makes, more goes to Britain than Kenya. grin
rvp20182:

Telkom Kenya was stripped of all assets and got loaded with liabilities - and sold to Orange - who later sold to Nigerian suckers - and Gov of kenya retain shareholding - but it's practically broke.

Didinrin, the Nigerian owned company already recouped their investment. They sold Telkom Kenya assets and as we speak are about to start selling off the real estate. This would leave the Nigerians and their investors with a lot of money. You may not know it, Kenyan government sold Telkom Kenya cheaply to Orange. At the end of the day the biggest losers are little India tax payers like you and your fellow idiots here.Once again, you allowed Nigerians to eat your dinner in Kenya just like RCC did. grin

that gives 50% of their earnings to the Ghanaian government
it's an external company operating in Ghana.

The guy needs a lot of education. so very bad . South Africa business in Ghana are not wholly owned subsidiary. of their parent company, their stocks are partially owned by Ghanaian too.
did I say they are wholly owned by the parent company? Or that Ghanaians can't own shares?

I actually have shares in McDonald's.... Does that make it a South African company?

The Ghanaian government charge a 50% windfall tax on all mining firms earnings before share holders get to earn
and? How does paying tax make it a Ghanaian company..... All companies foreign or local must pay tax in the countries they operate in.

Every Fcking part of the entirety of the African Economy is going to experience the serious BRUNT of corona virus. No Country is excluded.
Aljazeera had a critical look at the African economy with Nigeria as its POV yesterday (being the largest economy) and it was SCARY ASF!.

there is nothing like a safety Net for SA or Kenya. We're in really deep shii.

The USA had a record 26 million unemployment filing's yesterday. Jobs created as far back as 2010 all down the drain!

For the fact that most of them are merger even sell them out. Ghana and South Africa both owned them. the only stand out South Africa business in Ghana is MTN and that was before, it has now become a public listed property with about 30 percent stake allocated to Ghanaian. that will soon improved as times goes.
MTN Ghana and MTN are 2 different companies..... MTN owns the majority share in MTN Ghana...... Ghanaians don't own shares in MTN.

BMW SA can be considered a SAn company which is majority owned by BMW....... However BMW is not a SAn company.....hence why I would never claim BMW as a SAn company

Hence why I said MTN Ghana is a South African owned Ghanaian company however, MTN itself is a South African company same goes for Anglo Gold and Goldfields

the question from the Kenyan was about companies in both countries that make a billion dollars

it wasn't about indigenous companies.

It was about indigenous companies. You had something to say about Safaricom and invited the beating. Next time be a lil wiser.

The aviation industry has tagged this the worst ever crisis to hit the Aviation industry.

Airbus has started laying staff.
Countries like SA and Kenya that enjoy a lot of tourism revenues know this. There is nothing like a QUICK RECOVERY from this.

South African Airways has set plans in motion to lay off staff. The airline would most likely fold up in May. Apparently they've been running at a loss in some way all along.

Long and short is simple.... Only the strongest will stand... Don't flatter yourselves people.

True with SAA but already theres a plan to reboot it

Or make a new arline out of remnants of SAA. World aviation will never be the same again maybe it will come back in 2022

Does it operate in Ghana or not ?

The government of Ghana has an arrangement with them where by Ghana government owns a portion of the Company in order for them to open a new mine.
2. Ashanti Goldfields has been in operation since 1880 before merging with AngloGold
Is AngloGold South African?

This is the merger document, you can read
