The Human Development Index (HDI) is a statistic composite index of life expectancy, education, and per capita income indicators, which are used to rank countries into four tiers of human development.

Below is the 2018 ranking of Nigerian states by their human development indexes and the countries they are comparable according to Radbound University, using the international HDI methodology

If the list is anything to go by then the Yoruba race needs to sit up. Only Ogun made it to top ten. Lagos is somewhat no-man's-land not populated by us alone while other Ibo states except ebonyi are in top ten.

All the 4 south east states made it to top 10 no northern state made it , but one afonja Arrewa will claim borno is richer and more developed than all the states in south east , even the abia they make fun of made the top 10 ahead of all northern states and all the states afonjas chest beat with, look at where Oyo Ibadan is compared to abia

you have a point. I think our people are no longer taking education serious like in the time of our fathers. Igbos have overtaken us there.
We need an educational revolution like in the 50s again

We're you expecting them to top the list before undecided, and they don't take the Lions share, that's false.
Even see our most advanced state and they don't compare with any reasonable country.
The whole of Nigeria is a failure.

go and see the source of the information from Wikipedia you will see it's authenticity. NBS is not the source of hdi for countries. There is a body for that and you will see that body in Wikipedia

There isn't any reliable HDI for Nigerian states yet.
That more states in the SE makes the top list yet their region competes only with the NE in Internally generated revenue is a clear indication that Biafra if ever achieved will amount to nothing.

You dont go to school with hunger in the stomach,Nigeria have gone to the dogs. I dont know who planted the hatred between SE n SW. The Norths are not the people holding us back rather it's SE and SW, if we can shed our differences and take back power from the north, the development of Nigeria will start in earnest.

hdi is measured with education, life expectancy and average income...not by tax. Don't you know that government internally generated revenue is tax?

Any data that suggests that poverty rates are twice higher in Ondo compared to Osun or almost twice higher in Imo than Anambra should be treated with a heavy dose of scepticism. Rates of poverty are not particularly dissimilar within ethnic regions.

It's notoriously difficult to measure poverty rates, moreso in Nigeria where data is porous given absence of reliable public services infrastructure such as reliable income tax data, welfare schemes like the UK's DWP etc.
