Most people shouting no to vaccines do not know how vaccines are being produced. Guys, your modern biology textbook can help u. Most people do not understand the bill is about pandemic and public health. The bill recommends vaccine and people are saying no to vaccine. Were u not given bcg, dpt, measle,tt, polio, hepatitis B etc vaccines as child? some adults are still receiving hepatitis B and Hpv vaccine which reduce risks of liver cancer and cervix cancer respectively.
if WHO wants to sterilize africans, they do not even need mass vaccination programme. Contaminated antimalarial tablet or injection will do the magic.
most people are idiots and tribesmen according to greek philosophy.
Was there a bill for all these you mentioned? Why passing an urgent bill for a virus that's not even too effective here?
Wait a minute, are we talking about the same virus killing people in Spain, Canada, USA, Italy and the rest? it seems the virus is not the same here. Lol

Thank you very much. Some people don't know that there is really an underground work to ensure people forcefully take the vaccines.

Watch video of Bill gates saying that there won't be mass gathering unless people take the vaccines. Is bill gates now a doctor?

What does this mean? End of the world, mark of the beast? Who knows

If U were not ignorant and didnt even bother to read d section dat mentions vaccination, U'll have seen dat it didnt mention compulsory or forceful vaccination anywhere except for those travelling out or travelling into d country.... Everyone who travels out of dis country is supposed to b vaccinated against yellow fever. This bill is no different from what is already in place. It only jus gives d DG more powers

Bros, all this one you are just saying is hogwash.

There is a conspiracy underground. People are already kicking against this so-called vaccination all over the world.

You think it is the house of reps that just came up with this evil-bill? Also, why is the HR hurriedly trying to sign this bill?

Bill gates and co has a plan and that plan is that everyone (except bill gates family) must get vaccinated.

Becos most European countries have completely eliminated mosquitoes and every disease it comes with. So why would dey require u to take a vaccine before U visit? But do U know dat every foreign traveller coming into dis country or any African country is forced to take a yellow fever vaccine??

Chikwe the Chinese Igbo is the current DG.
Until the bill is passed, then he will be replaced by an Aboki. We have seen these subterfuges long enough to see through it. No wonder we suddenly knew the name of the DG of that parastatal even as we don't even know more than 5 ministers of the federal republic by name and portfolio.

We have too much archaic laws passed down from British rule n they have not been reviewed in years. This is an opportunity to review our laws as regards infectious diseases.

Ask those kicking against this bill they will bring religious conspiracies against coronavirus. Is COVID-19 the only pandemic the world is going to face? There have been other localized epidemic before COVID-19 e.g Lassa fever, meningitis, measles n so on. Is COVID-19 an everlasting pandemic? It will come n go but humans will still remain.

Some of u young ones think these laws will be implemented by these people making the laws now but you are wrong. Some of the young ones here will be the bureaucrats of the future so how you implement the laws passed today is by your discretion. After all the person that recommended #500 as penalty many years ago never envisage that #500 will one day be the price for a bottle of groundnut.

Your write-up applies to you.
tell us, which country on this earth require travelers to have vaccination to ingress and egress .
Be carefully, I have been to many?

By the way, yellow fever vaccination is a kettle of fish altogether. it is a requirement for most of the countries of which we in Nigeria circumvent.

This is the question many are not asking. Anyway, I believe the bill serves to update whatever archaic laws we had on tackling any pandemic. It's not for COVID-19 alone but any present or future pandemic.

I will be glad, to clear the air.

I have not seen anybody suffering from yellow fever, since i was born, there maybe, certainly I have not seen, I don't know if you have seen, am not implying that there are none. But I know for certain that it is not prevalent.

Am aware from reading medical journals and news generally that yellow fever affects mostly blacks from certain region (by the way, why is it not a requirement form entering int US, EU) and other Asian countries).

Finally, we know that you can get the yellow fever card from our airports without getting vaccinated and you can equally get the vaccination from any of the government health centers around the country "IF YOU NEED IT". Yellow fever vaccination is voluntary in Nigeria.

Now the question is, why make it the "unknown" vaccine compulsory now?
Why the rush to pass a bill for "unknown" vaccine /

I watched the first reading, and it was clear that the deputy speaker accepted the "yeas" voice vote when the "neas" clearly has it.

You might need to travel down to the core north and check out their health centres. It is not prevalent due to the success of mass vaccinations that have been ongoing for years with pockets of outbreaks in areas like the core north that are always averse to any form of vaccination.

It is a requirement if you are coming from yellow fever endemic countries like Nigeria to some countries. If you will be travelling from the US to such countries like Nigeria it is recommended (not forced/required) for the safety of your health. I think the American CDC website has this somewhere on their website, where they recommend to be vaccinated at least a month before your trip.

iknowwhoiam:

Finally, we know that you can get the yellow fever card from our airports without getting vaccinated.

Lol...this is a Nigerian thing and not necessarily the right thing to do. The proper thing is to be vaccinated or have some concrete form of evidence for previous vaccination.

iknowwhoiam:

I believe the mode of transmission and age of virus determine if its vaccine should be voluntary or not.

There is no successful vaccine yet for COVID-19, at least not for the next few months after trials may have been done. The bill serves to update the archaic laws we had in place to tackle the spread of infectious diseases that may lead to any present and future pandemic in Nigeria.

iknowwhoiam:

To be honest, I don't know. I am also concerned as to how due process was not followed in passing the bill. This may become an issue if we just allow bills to be passed just like that. Just for clarity sake, the bill is not about a vaccine. It's about empowering the NCDC in tackling the spread of infectious diseases that may lead to a pandemic in Nigeria. Too bad, it's all painted to be about a vaccine by the media.

I do not have data on the core north, so I cannot dispute your assertions. However, am sure of the eastern part of Nigeria.

Like i wrote, it is a requirement in most African countries during ingress, Nigeria inclusive. However, it is not a requirement for US, UK, EU. This am very sure.

Nevertheless, all the above is besides the point.

I believe the mode of transmission and age of virus determine if its vaccine should be voluntary or not.

Why force me to vaccinate? Just like other vaccination campaign in Nigeria, it should be voluntary, that is my issue.
Do not pass a legislation to make it compulsory to the extent of imprisonment.
My point is, if you are vaccinated against COVID-19, that means you are immuned to the disease, so why not leave those who do not want to be vaccinated alone, so that if they contact the virus, then let them die, it is none of your business.

kevoh:

Please read the bill again.

Among other things, the bill provides
'In an outbreak or a suspected outbreak of any infectious disease in any area in Nigeria, the Director General may by order direct any person or class of persons not protected or vaccinated against the disease to undergo vaccination or other prophylaxis within such period as may be specified in the order"

Aside the above, the bill sought to give excessive power to the NCDC, this is terrible.
