What has population got to do with economy.Ports are good indicators of GDP.Egypt lead with more than 5m TEUS with port said at 3.5m followed by South Africa at 4.8m..and Nigeria the entire poverty capital does 1.8m.Mombasa at 1.4m does more than two Lagos ports combined.

The Lagos ports did a combined 1.8m teu which is still more than entire Kenya's teu.
