Is it a sin to listen to Secular Music?

Friend, listening to Worldly Music is just as bad as any other Sin. Some feel guilty of addictions to Sexual Sins, but couldn't care less for ADDICTIONS to Rock Music and the likes ("Rock" is originally related to Sexual Immoralities).

One of the worst things that is even common in Christendom now is gospel singers imitating worldly singers, for instance: the Christian Rock/Rap Music.

It's not always easy to COME OUT of Worldly Music (or things in general) for Christians, especially new converts. Some don't even bother to EVER come out of it in any case.

Many years ago, at age 19 or so, I personally wasn't getting really excited knowing that I would have to let GO of my love for Secular Music, especially the common American Rock and Rap music.

Moreover, I found out that Jesus wouldn't condone my "Break Dance" either (that I had been learning or nursing for years); nor will He appreciate my addictions to VIDEO GAMES, FILMS, SPORTS (as a Club fan) and other things CHERISHED and LOVED in the World.

Seek Grace to Overcome the Love for the SOUND.

Hate it!

Yes, sometimes the CHARM there is JUST the SOUND: the BEAT and RHYTHM.

Pls i really need to understand what you mean by christian rock.

JESUS WAS A VERY CONTROVERSIAL PERSON WHEN HE WAS ON EARTH... so much so that he broke all the traditions of the jewish religion and ate food without washing his hands, he even went to houses of sinners NOT to preach, he went to eat and dine with them.... so pls imagine how controversial he would be today.

I beg to differ with you brother. I'm interested in your post because you brought up the creative dimension of sound and beats asides lyrics. I agree with you on this aspect.
Certain angelic beings did sing into the fabric of the material elements during creation and music remains God's means of creating things.
But where you went off was in the part of saying rock cannot be accepted by angels. While I can't classify rap as music, where exactly did you get this that rock music is unheavenly? Have you heard all the sounds that play in heaven? Do you know all the rhythms that God has hidden within Him? Or did God categorically tell you there is no rock in heaven.
Do you even think Satan has ever created anything except perverting what is created? Because Satan is misusing something, does it give him ownership? It's better to always remember that we only know from a portion and not fullness. Whatever you've heard is only one dimension. There are billions more to experience.

Emphatically, I can tell you that there is a lot of rock and roll in God. There is a lot of jazz, blues, afro, highlife etc. and even a lot of what else we may not be able to fit into genres we know today. The difference in the divine and satanic and the point of discernment is what each rhythm does to the souls of men and the spirit behind the inspiration whether Holy Spirit or not. Does it transmit the divine life that conveys the soul to the presence of God or mere death in gratification of the flesh? Does it have the fragrance of life and the atmosphere of heaven with it or is it simply an addictive thing that turns one's heart away from the Creator and to itself?

If you think rock or any other in itself is ungodly, you're in for a big shock soon with the kind of music heaven will be releasing to earth which will restore creation to divine order. Let's always humbly remember that we know from a portion.

Hmm, I wouldn't say God or heaven has got Rock & R ..." as you mentioned. That R&R originally means Sexual Immorality as far as I know: little wonder why most of these songs are Demonic, Sexually Stimulating and addictive.

We see many of these Celebrities being accused, convicted and sent to Jail for Sexual related Crimes like Rape/Defying Underage Girls, and also Drugs, Murder and other evil related cases.

Should that come as a Shock? Of course Not.

The Christian version is worse, Jesus and Sexual Immorality (Rock) can't add up!

Seeing how so-called gospel singer imitates the world: making money in the name of Jesus (as a celebrity); wayward dressings and are generally not examples of Jesus in their lifestyle.

What is Spirit is Spirit, and the flesh is flesh.

Followers of Jesus are to Touch Not the Unclean thing, and Walk in the Spirit in order not fulfil the lusts of the Flesh: Sexually Immorality(Rock...), one major example.

a universalist, having studied many religions, like buddhism, christianity, hinduism and many others, there is one common theme i learned ,there are divine rhythms and rhyhms from the astral realm, many of the songs that is produced now are using astral realm beats.
Classical music like beethoven, mozart, bach, schubert are very good and many traditional folks rhythms in nigeria, nevertheless u have freewill and can listen to whatever you like, but because a song sounds nice does not mean it is accepted by God. Wrong beats can tear your aura, and demons can use evil rhythms to steal your spiritual light. PEACE

I think you termed it ungodly because it was first used by the ungodly to project their ungodly acts. If these beats were first introduced by a true Gospel Artist, l am sure it won't be termed ungodly beats.

The kind of company you keep determines what accompanies you.


Based on my own little understanding of Music, secular song isn't a sin except you make use of some dangerous lyrics. Music is a very powerful tool both in the kingdom of God and that of darkness. When Elisha needed to communicate with God, he requested for a mistrel to sing, and as she sang, he was able to be in spirit.

The Song you play either attract demon or Angels. When you play secular songs around you, you will discover your spiritual life will be going down little by little, you will find it hard to pray or worship, studying your bible will become a big task. This is based on personal experience.

So I can give you one sweet rhythm and say blasphemous lyrics and it will make it acceptable in heaven. How about the deaf? The dumb they try to talk but to us it sounds like they are mumbling rubbish. Yet our father in heaven understands them. They can even sing praises that sounds foolish to the human mind but the spirit receives it. How about speaking I'm tongues? Does it have a smooth sound or reasonable rhythm. The bible says the words that I speak to you, they are spirit and they are life. I might decide to should the words, pray the words, or put them.in a song what matters is the WORD that smooth rhythm in yoruba might sound like jargons to an Arabic man. So my brother it's not to suit your ears with rhythm but to speak the word of God.
