This your comeback is neither here nor there. There's blunt honesty and constructive criticism which the "Jewish sheep" term you used doesn't fall into and the person you referred to didn't call you evil or hellbound or swine for being a humanist ( or anything you have convinced yourself you are)....

And anyone one that leaves his or her religion because of your ramblings on here wasn't religious to begin with.

So, because I used the term "Jewish sheep", my points are now invalid.

If you have nothing to say, kindly keep quiet.

First of all, FFK is a mad man. Opinions are like ass holes and everybody is entitled to one. Gates is not a demon. Only a misinformed fool will say such. Bill Gates has done more for humanity, African and even Nigeria than FFK could ever dream of. It's not every opinion of his that I find sensible. Some I do, some I find stupid. Hell, even some Americans protested against Gates, does their opinions reflect that of all Americans?

You said in the North? Let's tell ourselves the truth, Islam in that region is violent. People are forcefully converted to Islam. The ones converting from Islam to Christianity are slain or burned down. But in the South West, Islam is not practiced that way. What does that tell you? Do the math. This violent way is their way of life. Despite Saudi Arabia enforcing lockdown, some dumb Northern youths burned down police stations and vehicles for enforcing lockdown. These people are violent. Simple.

And Christianity is very liberal. I can argue that Christianity is one of the most liberal religion if not the most liberal one. Everyday, our God and religion are mocked and we don't go about killing people for it. Christianity in the time past were violent at some point but no more.

Of course, there are still some who would see non-believers as satanic, but most enlightened Christians in this modern age don't see them as one.

I'm happy that you were honest in this assessment.

There are still other problems aside violence. While I will agree that modern christianity is not violent as compared to the religion of peace, there is still the issue of prosperity preaching and brainwashing of masses.

But I will not divert into that topic today. Lets leave it at that. Your honesty struck me.

You're a typical evangelical internet atheist, lol.

It's amusing in light of the fact that your kind battle religion as ardently as evangelicals push their strict beliefs on others.

You remind me of me when I was passing through an angst phase during my teenage years. I viewed myself as an atheist, and would not spare a moment to forcefully assault the doctrines of Christians and Muslims alike. To put it plainly, I was a proper equal-opportunity evangelical internet atheist. In any case, people evolve, and in like manner, I grew out of that emo stage, thank God.

You're apparently still stuck in an emo stage in your old age, and it makes me sad. I say this with compassion, but you need to grow the fvck up.

For me, as long as a religion is not harmful or causes bodily harm towards any human, people should believe or choose not to believe in what they want.

Yeah. People ought to be empowered to live in civility with deference for all beliefs, or none thereof.

So 5% or less for the whole of Nigeria is what you consider as eroding, that's alright.

.
Arguing with you or making you see reasons here can be likened to pouring water on a rock, cause you don't have an iota of knowledge on the subject matter you speak of. And how many Shrines did the pastors destroy? You're basing your knowledge of tradition, on Nollywood movies.... WTF.
I saw how you were sad when nobody headed your warnings on the Ogbunike counter thread you created, & when you expressed your displeasure, i just laughed.
As an advise to you, Christianity as a religion is very tolerant & forgiving, don't, i repeat, don't try this with tradition.

Once in 5 years is still very poor, but that's not the case. You basically have no knowledge of the customs & traditions of your people, am i wrong? It's not enough to travel home & not associate & break kola with your Kinsmen during your stay. You see, folks like you are actually part of the problem.

1. Where did you get your 5% figure? Is it only Igbo christians that are taking English names? What of yoruba and other southern tribes? Then we have not even mentioned muslims who take Arab names to sound islamic. The whole Hausa culture has been take over Arabic/islamic cultures. Their kings are called Emir.

2. Ogbeni, talk what you know. I have a village too, you know. There is no shrine in my village. The only one that managed to exist was one that was after a river. No one bothered to travel the river just to get to a shrine. Hunger probably killed the local jazzman. Even the word "shrine" in Nigeria has a negative connotation

3. I mentioned Nollywood movies to point out the mentality surrounding local shrines in Nigeria. I was not using it as evidence of destruction. Please, I believe that your IQ is higher than this.

I saw how you were sad when nobody headed your warnings on the Ogbunike counter thread you created, & when you expressed your displeasure, i just laughed.

4. Is this a low IQ moment or what? Why would you laugh at my pain? A pain brought up by the sadness that many Nigerians cannot use their sense to avoid danger? A sadness for the sad state of my people? What is funny about creating awareness for people subscribing to dangerous journeys?

5. What am I finding in the village? Once in 5 years is enough. FYI, I have parents that taught me my tradition. I keep repeating that I am not some dreadlocked JJC London akata. Even Naira Marley sabi street where im from come!

6. One thing I despise in igbo culture is the fact that some people travel to village to show off during christmas annually. AMAKA WHY??!! 9 hours drive from Lagos to East to do nothing but eat and flaunt your riches? I hope you are not one of those people.

Lord hypocrite, don't let me get angry this night.

I came to nairaland for one purpose. To educate people on the excesses of religion. So far, the result has been pleasing for me. Go to the religion section. There is a stickied thread called "the non-religious thread". That thread was kept there as a result of my consistent pressure on the mods that non-religious people needed their own special thread if christians got theirs. You know how hard that was because everyone knows how pompous nairaland mods can be.

Lol, I was just messing around. It's called trolling, which I haven't done in a while.

Don't make me laugh, Mr Man. Your evangelical kind give non-confrontational atheists a bad name. Statistically, atheists are less inclined to specify their skepticism than theists are to make reference to their belief in a higher power.

Many atheists even think religion is an extraordinary, and instrumental part of society that they would never want to see cease to exist, but they simply don't have any personal stake in any religion.

Quit talking shit.

Drop your state & your village, I'd gladly make my findings & prove you wrong. And how do you know people hardly visit the "only" shrine in your village?
You saying Shrine connotes evil just proved my earlier point.
In traditional Igbo system of government, you probably don't know the role of shrines & masquerades. Shrines were the judiciary arm of government, the last hope of the common man as regards delivery of equitable Justice. Masquerades were the executive arm that enforces the law. The topmost age grades were the legislature arms who made the law. Even till now, this system is still working & applicable.

I mentioned Nollywood movies to point out the mentality surrounding local shrines in Nigeria. I was not using it as evidence of destruction. Please, I believe that your IQ is higher than this
.
layman's mentality.

Is this a low IQ moment or what? Why would you laugh at my pain? A pain brought up by the sadness that many Nigerians cannot use their sense to avoid danger? A sadness for the sad state of my people? What is funny about creating awareness for people subscribing to dangerous journeys?

You know why nobody cared to listen to you or heed your warnings?
Now listen. The Ogbunike caves have been there for centuries & those bats has also been it's inhabitants for centuries. That cave you see there is more than just a cave, it's a sort of deity, reverenced by the Ogbunike people. Those bats can't hurt nobody nor spread any disease. Am not saying bats don't cause those 2 disease you stated, they do, but the ones at Ogbunike caves wouldn't hurt you.
If it had caused those 2 disease you stated, that place would have been shut down a long time ago & you'd been hearing cases of the disease amongst it's local inhabitants.
It's basically same for every town or village in the East, they'll have what they reverence. The entrance fee tourist pay, what do you think it for?

So you see, that thread was you, basically making a mountain out of a molehill, that's why nobody gave a fvck. If you were knowledgeable about the customs & traditions of folks, you ought to have understood better.

One thing I despise in igbo culture is the fact that some people travel to village to show off during christmas annually. AMAKA WHY??!! 9 hours drive from Lagos to East to do nothing but eat and flaunt your riches? I hope you are not one of those people.

So what is your definition a good plot (mind you for an all out action thriller)?
As far as am concern Extraction has a very simple plot, simple does not mean its weak.

from the John Wicks to the Mad Maxs, Raids, Dredds, you need a very simple plot and intense action, simple plots have done the magic for action packed movies for years, same with video games.
if you only watch movies because plots stick to drama series.

well, this is your opinion.

I don't really have a genre, I watch movies to relax, so anyone I catch that's interesting, I watch, be it Horror, drama, anyone so far it is interesting and intense.

@emboldened shouldn't be an avenue to disparage Christians that believe in prosperity preaching because I don't see how that is tantamount to violence. People worship trees, it might not go down well with you and I, but it's their choice, and once it's not causing you body harm, let them have their right to their religious beliefs.

As a Christian, I give offerings but not tithes. I instead help the poor I see out there in the streets. That's how I choose to give my tithes. I believe that giving it to them is me also giving to God. But another Christian might choose to give tithes to his pastor. That's his choice. I'm not better than him neither is he better than me. Whether they are gullible or not, you can choose to enlighten them without insulting them. Because if you're insulting or disparaging while trying to give him advice, he will barely listen to you.

Manner of approach matters a lot.

I love that alot because if there be a hell , you as a Christian will go to a muslim's hell, and you a Muslim is definitely going to a Christian's hell grin grin...No buts or maybes

Furthermore, homosexuality has never been an issue in Nigerian cultures. It was ignored. If you dont believe me, kindly tell me the punishment for homosexuality in your igbo culture if it were criminalised

I wanted to talk about this last night but I forgot.

The reason why homosexuality has not been an issue in our culture is because back in the days of our great grandparents, you dare not come out as a gay. Them no born you well to because of the inhumane punishment or even death that awaits you.

We are talking of traditions that birthed caste system. Traditions that supported killing of twins. Cultures where humans are used as sacrifice, etc. Even then, having sex without getting married had its consequences. How much more do you think that a gay person would suffer?

They chose to remain in the closet for fear of what would befall them. It's modern times that gave more liberty to homosexuals to come out of the closet.
