At least you are now understanding how Ghanains have become pests.

Nigeria and Ghana since time immemorial have always been close ... We have been beefing each other long before Kenya discovered twitter..

But trust me,there's been a lot of love too... Especially in the entertainment industry...

We just love picking on each other grin ..

The problem with SA - you're competing against SSA - instead of competing with likes of Indonesia, Malaysia, Brazil, etc. In 10yrs - most African countries will have caught up - because you're stuck in mediocrity.

Very true! You shouldn't even put them in the same league: when you look at Malaysia, WOOOOHH!

Eskom had long been fckd, even before the ANC got into poor. I mentioned your love of misrepresenting & telling half truths to push a certain narrative .now you can keep on arguing with yourself about this .
Depends what you mean by fvcked.........I did say Eskom of pre 94 only supplied electricity to the select few, hence why there was no loadshedding and backouts as the demand was so few......however the ANC knew when they connected the rest of South Africa to the national grid that the grid would need to be upgraded, they never did that and thus we are now stuck with loadshedding.

Now I thought you are done with me? grin grin grin

KQ got screwed by Oil futures. I don't blame them. Shareholders put pressure on KQ management to buy oil futures. This was the time Oil was retailing at 140 dollars. I think KQ bought it at that price for like 5yrs. One tragic decision - that has led to monumental losses - and saw once one of world most profitable airline down...but not OUT.

Why has KQ been making a loss since 2013?

LMFAO, nice try wink. This is not only about capacity. The ANC did build two more stations . I said show me how the power utility was better managed ; profits & maintenance wink. We all know there was no pressure to grid back then, compared to now,I know you keep bringing this obvious fact to the table to evade my management question.

I didn't say it was better managed I simply said there was no blackouts and loadshedding for those that had electricity...........however today's Eskom run by the ANC has had loadshedding since 2007, even you can't deny this

Listen to your sakawa master..

"Sakawa refers to internet scam or fraud. However, for a person to earn money through the fraudulent activities, they have to involve certain religious rituals that are conducted by the Akan people. While this practice has become a favorable and easy way to earn money, it involves a lot of weird acts. Persuading people online and using intelligence to con them is not enough. A sakawa person has to apply some sort of voodoo magic. "

grin grin voodoo

I met a Sakawa guy Nov 2014 Oil Libya Plaza, Muthaiga. He had 500k USD with the UN seal that needed an acid to remove. He had the machine, the size if 2 microwaves with a letter slit into which he inserted 4, 100 USD notes.
It vibrated for a half minute and the notes came out clean minus the 'UN watermark.' We changed them in Westlands.
Alas! The acid was finished and he needed 500000 ksh IIRC to buy more!? I saw it written some years ago the Ghanaians showed the Naijjans this type of f'ery and having seen shocking aspects of their socioculture like Trokosi girls, voodoo and child labour they've learned to deny and their economic windowdressing wherein the electrical board is billions of dollars in the red due to overproduction, the record 16 bailouts and other ishyt I'M NOT SURPRISED .

you just need a national compagny that control all your oil gas industry and ressouce , not letting foreigners compagnies take most of the wealth.

why nigeria havnt nationalized this compagnies ? look at Sonatrach , the algerian national oil and gas compagny , the first compagny in africa in terms of revenue . algeria nationalized its oil industry in 1971 (9 years after independency) after fighting with foreigners compagnies that was controlling algerian oil gas industry .

if nigerian gouvern do the same , foreign compagnies and countries will put a lot of pressure and threats . but after some years the revenues and budgets will rise a lot . from current very low 23 Billions dollars to more than 100 Billions

It may already be too late. The post covid world will be much less oil reliant. The price may never recover to previous levels despite the ululations of Dangote's giant refinery. All the trillions Naij earned went to Shell,BP and the local rentiers.
Sometimes you almost want to weep for Africa!

What makes you think your country is doing better? if your country crazy drive to ramp up their daughter or mother for sex in exchange for 1 dollar is not a disgrace to you , then what else ? Despite your Kenya Power enjoying monopoly in the Kenya market, it still works with negative capital. A country whose liabilities is more than asset should be buy off if possible. your country mess is bigger than everybody shit. though you blindly and stupidly reject.

It's not funny that on average your kids graduate primary when they cannot read or write or do grade 4 level maths or English. You need to fix your education.

And the worst part - while Kenya teachers can score 95% of those exams - South Africa teachers would score something like 70-80% of such pupil exams.

Just imagine your teachers also need FIXING. Many south African teachers teaching kids - would fail final primary school exams
.

TRAGIC.

Read these articles written by south Africans with some brains. Kenya and South Africa kids - in thousands - national survey have been compared severally - and Kenya comes TOP - only 2nd to Mauritus.

1)
What South Africa can learn from Kenya when it comes to improving schooling
https://www.biznews.com/africa/2018/03/05/south-africa-kenya-education-schooling

2)Better education – Kenya’s history lesson for South Africa
https://workingwiththegrain.com/2018/02/28/better-education-kenyas-history-lesson-for-south-africa/

Let me know if you want more.

Biggest takeaway:

In the 2007 standardized tests for sixth graders conducted by the Southern (and East?) African Consortium for Monitoring Educational Quality (SACMEQ), Kenya’s average score was 557 points – well above South Africa’s average of 495 points, and only marginally below the Western Cape (the top performing province) score of 560 points; at the poorer 25th percentile, Kenya (with a score of 509 points) outperformed the Western Cape (496 points). These results were achieved notwithstanding higher levels of poverty, average per pupil expenditures which were one fifth of South Africa’s, a cadre of teachers who were no better trained, and (when compared with the Western Cape) a relatively messy bureaucracy.

Will look for recent results which should even be better now that our teachers are better motivated and kids have improved computer literacy.

If the South African economy stood completely still and didn't grow a single % and the Kenyan economy grew at 6.5% pa it would still take Kenya nearly 30 years to overtake SA...... That's how far ahead we are.

No. We use CAGR,to estimate annual per capita GDP growth. Fyi in 2002 WE WERE AT 420 USD! DO THE MATH.

I told you oil futures...done around 2013/2014 - just before the oil crash. KQ hedged fuel - not knowing we were about to see big crash.

KQ first made a huge loss of 260M dollars in 2014 on the account of the oil crash. Previously they had benefited.

t’s worth noting that the airline has in the past made massive profits from hedges. It did not make any losses related to oil hedges between 2012 and 2014.

The management got it right, their hedges worked effectively. The hedges returned a cumulative gain on fuel derivatives of Sh4.07 billion, with Sh2.5 billion realised in 2012 alone.

Hedges turned sour when prices started going south in mid 2014 as a result of increased oil supply from the US and decreased demand as the Chinese economy contracted. No one foresaw the rapid fall in oil prices.

jl115:

Why has KQ been making a loss since 2013?

This is not Dangote. Meet The Nigerian billionaire Who Is Building The Second Largest Refinery In Sub Saharan Africa.

On December 12, 2017, the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, was at Ibefun, Ogun State to commission Africa’s largest tank farm built by indigenous oil and gas company, Petrolex Oil and Gas Limited.

Without the legacy investment by Petrolex, perhaps most people would never have heard about Ibefun. It is a small Ijebu town close to Itoikin, one of Epe’s satellite towns. The people of Ibefun are traditionally farmers and fishermen. The town is located at the bank of a river, which connects to the Lagos Lagoon. It is approachable from Lagos mainland, via Ikorodu through Itoikin. It is also accessible from Lagos Island via Epe. Lastly, it is accessible from other parts of the country via the Lagos-Ibadan expressway through the Sagamu road.

The situation of the Petrolex Mega Oil City has finally put the name of the sleepy town on the map and created immense opportunities for its people. So much has been said already about Petrolex Mega Oil City and the ongoing projects there.

The property is the site of a 300 million litre capacity tank farm with 20 storage tanks. It the location of the location proposed 250,000bpd refinery as well as a lube plant, fertilizer plant and gas processing facility. All these facilities will be ready at full completion of the mega city. The intention of Petrolex is that the area becomes a large energy estate that will be the biggest and best in Africa.

So much has also been said about the benefits of the mega oil city to the Nigerian economy. Nigeria is the largest producer of oil in Africa, yet it has had to face fuel shortages in recent times. A storage facility of this size will increase the availability of petroleum products and reduce the likelihood of a fuel shortage. Moreover, a new Petrolex refinery will complement Dangote’s refinery which is already nearing completion, to make-up for the poor output of government-owned refineries that have been operating at 5-10% capacity.

The gridlock at Apapa and Ibafo is another problem that the Petrolex mega oil city hopes to resolve. According to the Chairman of Petrolex, Mr Segun Adebutu, he lived in Apapa, but had to pack out one day when there was a gas build-up in one of barges and it exploded and shattered glass in his house.

Segun adebutu is an ijebu billionaire who is building the second largest refinery in Nigeria in Ogun state

Segun Adebutu is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Petrolex Oil & Gas Ltd, a company presently[when?] building "the second largest refinery in sub-Saharan Africa and the largest petroleum product depot in Nigeria" in Ogun State. Segun Adebutu serves as the Executive Director and member of the Board of Premier Lotto Nigeria Limited. He is the Chairman of Bluebridge Marine and Oladiran Agro-Allied Company, Oladiran Engineering & Trade Limited. He ventured into entertainment business when he founded a music record label, named Baseline Records, which signed on music artistes like: Skales, Saeon, and others.
