May7, kenfarm inspect one of the palm tree plantation under her watch

In the dry season, it was accidentally taken over by fire. The good news today is that all the matured palm tree have come alive again just after few rainfall.
But the coming alive was due to the organic manure I apply during last season rainfall. The rain fall that came after the fire made the organic manure release nutrient for the palm and also increase organic matter of the soil.

Also, some area of the farm that I marked for poor growth had dramatically improved due to the NPK 20:15:15 I applied and subsequently added organic manure after 4months. The effect of all these treatment of last season is seen on the healthy looking PalmTree this season.

Lesson : Do not give up on that farmland. If your crop showing sign of nutrient deficiency, consult experts to review your farm and postulate best ways to ameliorate your farm soil. Do not depend on the advice those local farmer around your farm area will give. Farming have gone past conventional farming. The ecosystem is complicated now. Human activities have negative effect on our crop and so we need to holistically consider all the factors predisposing our crops to Denver before we jump into a solution

If you have put that farm land to cultivating cassava for 5consecutive season back-2-back, then it time to ameliorate the farm soil. This is because cassava is a heavy feeder crop. It sap nutrient heavily from the soil. Prolong cultivation without replenishment render the farm soil infertile.

Bade on this, you may have to conduct a soil fertility testing to ascertain the following parameters:
1. Soil PH
2. CEC value
3. Macro & Micro nutrient
4. Soil textural class
5. Organic matter and some few more

The knowledge of this will help give yu a clue as to what amelioration to give your soil.

Note that if you are a commercial former, then the info is for you. If you cultivate cassava in small scale, all you need do is practice Bush fallowing and crop rotation to ameliorate your farm soil. For more details on how to ameliorate using crop rotation and Bush fallowing, u may consult us

How is the rain fall pattern in yur farm area?

I don't know if am the only one budered here about the effect of climate change on farming.....if the patern of rain continue there will be food scarcity next season

Are you aware that a pickut full if cassava now cost 250k? An acre can produce up to 2.5 pickups meaning if you have an acre of cassava now proceed to selling as an acre can give you up to 600k now

If you have stopped investing in cassava due to the fall in turn over, the value chain has improved tremendously....... This coming season should not pass you bye

Before you venture into any agric Biz, the first thing to do is seek for info on the do&don't of the Agric Biz to cut down on risk factor....and that is what you have just done by getting the book

The second move will be......coming up with a crop budget. When you establish your crop budget which is what you plan to invest....the next decision you need to take is studying the market of what you are producing
