Bill Gates made so much money that at a point the money became unimportant and he decided to focus on his legacy/making the world a better place for the average human being.

That's why he has been funding healthcare in developing countries for so long. Initially in the battle against polio, they were literally just sending money to the Nigerian government but when they werent getting results (since our gov dey chop d money rush rush), that's when they decided to be on ground in Nigeria.

And mostly thanks to their effort Nigeria celebrated 3 years without new cases of polio last year (Google it if you dont believe me).
