From these pictures, Abakaliki seem to have more 3 to 4 multi-storey buildings, perhaps than Owerri. I may be wrong though

very wrong bro. I love the way umahi is working but owerri has gone far bro

Why all this long meaniless post?

You said Imo has two shoprite Malls, which is a terrible lie

Ibadan has Five malls and still counting

Only two of them carry the Shoprite franchise.

Please show me where i said Imo has two Shoprite.

You are a yoruba so i dont doubt your inability to read and assimilate what ever is placed before you, all you think about is propaganda against someone else no doubt.

Like celebrating an uncompleted mall when we are about to have the best train in West Africa here in SW.

Wonders.

Osun mall is already in use, we don't celebrate nonsense here in the SW.

Like wasting billions on a fvcking Mall when 78% are in abject poverty.

Celebrating an uncompleted mall, that is strange.

Shame.

That’s the foolish I laugh at in most of you idiots from the west. Does the Osun state or south west own the institution? Where does the monies used in sustaining the institution come from. Only a foolish idiot will claim a federal institution to be exclusive.

By the way, there is nothing Osun has over Imo state.

The number of malls, grocery stores, hotels, clubs, bars and real estate in owerri alone, Will swallow the whole of Osun and Ekiti combined.

If you want, we can open a thread for it, Osun/Ekiti vs Imo state and lets see who will be shamed: I still have osun and ekiti pictures in my archives.

Imo airport alone, contribute to more to federal purses than the whole of Osun and ekiti. Oshogbo And ado ekiti are shitholes, they are poverty stricken townS, where the average man can’t even communicate in simple broken English. They keep replying you in yoruba.... smh.

Good one from the Engineer.
Engineer Dave, you have passion for development and infrastructure.

I am pleading on behalf of manufacturers and upcoming industrialist in igbo land for an Eastern power generation and transmission.

We need power in the East His Excellency. We need to exit this National Grid Nonsense where they allocate less than 15% power to the east.
Champion this project and execute it through Nestoil company/subsidiaries and Seplat.

Do this and stand long Mike okpara and Sam Mbakwe in Igbo land.

Regards.
A very welcoming thought.

Na so civil war take start though. Just kidding

Are you begging him to stop hating Ebonyi? As far as I am concerned is more beautiful and richer than OSUN state. If he says otherwise let him prove it to us how a poverty stricken state can now claim t have only 8% poverty rate according to NBS stats.

But on a lighter note who is gonna use this warehouse called abakaliki mall with almost 80% poverty in ebonyi state? Will they be hawking gala there? I think to be fair, ebonyi should dedicate 95% of its resources on education and human capital development. Ebonyi has no use for mall at least for now.

you lie my dear the whole of south east has been taking sample's to irrua in Edo state which happens to be the closest virology lab to SE. In the area of education my dear dont go there, I'm currently a corp member in the state what has umahi done in the area of education? in ebonyi student go to schools with their chair and table, you see student go to school around 12 because they would have to wait for morning section to close before they can come in, what of teachers response to their job unko? they only come to school to sign attendance register you wont even blame them cos me as a corper earn more than alot of their full time teachers in public school o. when u hear abakaliki people praise umahi is just becos of presco flyover, spera deo, and water fountain for me umahi is like a one eyed man in the land of the blind.

Louder! Afikpo that ought to be the second city in the state has no electricity. The staff of the federal polytechnic there have all ran away to Abakaliki, the small city.

He should develop other sectors and cities too. Wasting money on flyovers where 200 vehicles don't pass in a day. Misplaced priority.

Restore Afikpo light and focus more on human capital development and health. Afikpo has been in darkness since 2015.

Kudos to Umahi but let's leave all the beautifications and the fancy lights,How's their economy ? Majority of ebonyians are poor, people from other states are the real developers,Anambra people have 70℅ of the storey buildings you see in Ebonyi, what business can you do there, how many companies & industries exist in the state ? The OP might not even have an investment or business there or probably wouldn't even gamble starting up a business in ebonyi, these are the questions you ask,not some fancy bulbs in the streets.

For once somebody who has some sense.

Development is described as anything that lifts the standard of living of the people concerned.

A fricking mall cannot described as development. Urban beautification can also not count cuz its what it is, beautification.

However, if the state's GDP is able to fund these things, without loans or free federal allocation, then it goes to say that Ebonyi state has a bubbling economy that generates enough taxes for these things.

But ebonyi indegenes are poor and mostly a civil service state that depends on mainly federal allocations to survive.

There is no strategy to actually harness whatever resources the state has to boost its economic status. Cuz economic prosperity usually brings about urban beautification , not the other way round except the state is looking to get into the tourism business like Dubia.

Will this mall be able to generate enough profit to cover its expenses? What would be sold in those malls. What is the purchasing power of the citizens?. Will goods produced in ebonyi be sold there and if yes what % of goods will that be?

Its beautiful but just like their airport, its a white elephant project that will put the state in massive debt and will generate no revenue to even maintain it properly.

And when a more economically savvy team takes the mantle, they become abandoned projects.

Another white elephant project.

My question is; with 78% poverty index in Ebonyi....... Who are/is gonna patronise this mall?

No its not a white Elephant project. Many Igbo businesses will move there, and some of our igbos from different parts will definitely be moving to live in Abakiliki.

Also don't forget that Ebonyi has a federal university from which many of her children are graduating and creating jobs. Plus the vocational schools will generate skilled labor.
