Dramatic moment Venezuelan army foils 'amateur' coup attempt led by Green Beret with his two Special Forces buddies - and 'backed by shadowy US billionaires' - as they set out to assassinate President Maduro with '300 hungry, untrained men'

The moment two U.S. former special forces soldiers were arrested in Venezuela was dramatically caught on video as their 'plot to assassinate President Nicolás Maduro' was foiled.

The coup was coordinated by an ex-Green Beret named Jordan Goudreau, 43, who says the objective was to capture Maduro. Goudreau claims to have built a force of 300 men, reportedly backed by US billionaires.

President Maduro called the arrested men 'terrorist mercenaries’ and blamed the attacks on the Trump administration, Venezuela's opposition leader Juan Guaidó and neighboring Colombia, all of which have denied involvement.

IDs

Former Green Beret Jordan Goudreau (pictured center) said earlier on Monday that he was working with the two men on a mission intending to detain Maduro and 'liberate' Venezuela.

Goudreau has claimed responsibility for the operation.

Venezuelan security forces lead one of the men arrested on Monday for reportedly participating in a plan to kill President Maduro and topple his socialist government with help from the United States and Colombia.

Maduro ally and Attorney General Tarek William Saab said in a press conference (pictured) that in total they've arrested 114 people suspected in the attempted attack and they are on the hunt of 92 others.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) led a campaign to oust Maduro, indicting the socialist leader as a narco-trafficker and offering a $15 million reward for his arrest in March.

Trump has failed again.

Ordinary coup he can't accurately conduct. He should go and learn from Obama. Less talk, more action.

He will never listen to the experts. Mr. Know it all.

Let's wait until the story unfolds, I am sure US will have their own version of the story after all no spy or govt assassin will ever confess or disclose his/her mission.

The United States is really interested and invested in Venezuela from a warfare perspective and an economic perspective.

1. Venezuela is a socialist state and Maduro is an enemy of the U.S. An enemy of the U.S. is automatically a friend of Russia and China.

A ballistic missile attack by Russia or China into the U.S. will be easier if the range is closer i.e launching your missiles from Venezuela.

And that was what the whole Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 was all about. Russia wanted to use Cuba as a base for its missiles and the U.S. refused. That conflict almost led to a nuclear war.

2. At 300 billion barrels, Venezuela has the largest proven oil reserves in the world. Larger than Saudi Arabia, Iran, US, or Russia. Any country who controls the President of Venezuela controls the oil.

The assassination attempt will never stop as long as Maduro remains in power.

Every country should have some level of sovereignty. World power countries shouldn't try to control other country's government.

Although, this President's government put his country in recession.

I don't like maduro, he imposed himself on the country. I don't like yuan guaido, he sounds power drunk for calling for foreign military intervention in his contry. I don't like military intervention, it could destabilize the country. The best would have been a coup and fresh election.

When a nation suffers due to incompetence of its leaders, other nations suffer and are forced to take action if it's people are negligent..

How other nation suffer:
- Refugee influx
- Debt growth (borrowings)
- Terrorist recruitment
- Illegal immigrants
- Asylum seekers
- Job mop up in foreign nations
- Reduction in standard of living due to cheap labour
- Pressure to forgive debts.
etc...

Look inward and tell me if your country does not tick all the above..

Usual of Uncle Sam using different means. Nasser went like that, Allende, same. In this case, Maduro is pulling Castro's stunt and style in the Bay of Pigs Invasion.

And then, terrorism comes in different shades. Maduro on his citizens, "the world's police" on Maduro.

Nice writeup, its just like saying a country with a lunatic president should be allowed to develop nuclear weapons. The activities of any country is everyone business as far will all are home to earth. There is serious poverty in that country and the top leaders are having fun.

I understand, but my point is; world power countries shouldn't manipulate government of other countries. If a country like America or UK or Russia has incompetent leader, no other country dares to topple the government.

Then why do that to other countries. What's the point of sovereignty.

Can you make a thread on the murder of Ahmaud Arberry? He is an African American man murdered in cold blood while jogging.

Thanks.

Wouldn't it be logical for the US to encourage such strong institutions, individuals and processes to checkmate the leaders of these countries instead of trying to topple their government.

This is the major reason why many countries hate Americans. They impose and/or manipulate the leadership of other countries of the world. A lot of conspiracy theories has been fabricated against them because of this.
