This whole NBS incident is a big eye opener for me about Nigeria. Some people will cook up any numbers just to prove a point.

How do you expect the Igbos to think home, when the wealth that they are using to even develop their villages, is from the commerce they are engaged in outside Igboland, within Nigeria or Abroad.

How can you think home when you fled home to escape poverty?

The best that can happen is to continue to work harder outside of home, to be financially empowered to send more money home.

Says a Yoruba man that majority of Yoruba states are ghost town and cities.

From your post on nairaland is obvious that you’ve not step out of your region and maybe not even travelled round Yoruba states.

Talk more of leaving the shores of this country

You know nothing about igbos and if you observe well.. only if that Yoruba pride will allow you see how your ignorance is radiating all over the net.

Your intentions to mock igbos has formally display your IQ and your stand as a human.

You really need to travel, mixed with humans .. and understand your planet your country and your region before .. ..

Wake up.. and stop sleeping on bike.

Thank you.How do you know that it is false.
Are you a statistician or you are just judging by face value?

If I may tell you,if one judges by face value,Nigeria should not be the poverty capital of the world but statisticians have their methodologies and to top it all,has the SE ever been less poverty stricken than SW?

There were times that the south east was poorer than the south west especially for the first 25 years after the civil war. Now its a different story. The NBS director has serious questions to answer about the data that he produced and the sample size that he used.

This is a new settlement in Nike, Enugu, very far from the main Enugu city centre. There's no more lands to buy in Enugu city centre. All has been bought up and are being held tightly.

At the same time, we must or rather all the entrepreneurs should start thinking of strategic investments home. Investments in Services and industry. An average igbo is rich enough to buy the same services that people rush to lagos to create. Why cant we create it here. Is it a mental trap? What is so attractive about Lagos that Enugu city does not have. Why cant we utilize our middle class. Why are the governors not coming up with plans to attract rich igbo, en away from lagos like Peter

70% of south east region is just for residency. significance amount of the houses in SE re owned by igbos who work outside south east region.
There is little or no major economic activities going on in south east region.
An average igbo is a trader. 90% of the sucessfull businessmen /women in south east have their investments outside the region.
You can blame the 5 states governors for having IGR equivalent of ogun state.
Tax from trading cannot add any meaningful thing to the government coffers.
The way igbos hustling outside of SE re building redudant houses in their tiny region, 10yrs to come there will be no land for economic activities in the region

Now let me tell you, for over five years now or above there has been a massive investment drive into South East. Go to Agu Awka and see what is going on there, go to New Market side in Enugu, go to Owerri, go to Abakaliki. Had it been I don't frequent these areas I would have not doubted your story .

As for that stats by NBS, even a primary school drop out knows it is a caricature of statistics as a profession. I didn't even mention classic houses springing up in different Villages inIgbo Land.

All the same
Let us see this NBS Stats as a blessing in disguise and let us work in unison to eradicate poverty entirely from Igbo Land

I will contribute my own quota towards this campiagn by trying to see how to bring down a vibrant Tech Eco system down to South East.

Our people must be discouraged from seeing Lagos as first point of call for survival. We can create our own desirable cities and Market that will be patronised by the huge west African regional market.

Aku rue uno policy and campaign has just been validated

Don't believe any Nigerian government body's data, it is always filled with assumptions and the statisticians' perception not always the fact and reality.

Nigeria does not have any accurate data record of anything, from population to poverty index to any data.

Nigerian government body data are usually manipulated by politicians for their political gains, so don't bother yourself with data from NBS, it is complete nonsense!

If you want to know which Nigerian state is doing well or bad, step out of your comfort zone and travel to other states communities not just the capital city. Visit like 10 LGAs in the state and you will have a real life story to tell.

You have your people running to the sw not only Lagos.
You have less GDP,less, igr, less per capita, less companies, less private universities etc,you still think you are richer than the Yoruba, ehn?

Enugu is a poor state. Their rural areas are poverty-stricken but some mistakenly believe that Enugu city is representative of Enugu state. Economically, Abians are doing much better than Enuguites though it looks like Abia has been cursed with wicked leaders. Ebonyi is a backward state. Their ruthless governor is busy stealing for himself and his family while poverty and disease kills his people. Anambra state is not where it ought to be but that can change if their people can stop investing in Lagos. Imo is the only state with promise as our IGR and job creation is set to take a leap with the coming on stream of Shell gas and Waltersmith refinery which will create economic boom across the state. Owerri is currently the best city in southern Nigeria.

Do you know that building just one house creates over 30 unique jobs?

Do you Know that as of 2016, Nigeria has a shortage 17 million housing units.

Do you know that in Onitsha for example, before you finish building your flats, its already rented out. This is coming from the landlord associations

Now you do the math and see that what you said makes no economic sense.

Reason why restructuring is to best ..

The cost of manufacturing and exporting to Lagos .. before exporting same outside shores

The federal government Dey systematically dull IBOM sea port.

The understand what that sea port might be the end of Nigeria
A seaport that will kill Lagos Nigeria and give old eastern region total control..
that’s a seaport if successful the north won’t control

Nigeria is a game...
