So when you were in lockdown - what economic activities were you engaged in apart from mating. Cedis-USD already captured all that mating and no work done.

Ghana's GDP has not dropped by even a single percent

What is so hard about pursuing REAL fiscal consolidation in KE? Kenya is piling on debt like there is no tomorrow. Jubilee will break the 9 trillion debt ceiling before its 2nd term ends. Just stop any new projects & concentrate on cleaning up the current fiscal mess!

So there was no lock-down. You cannot have your cake and eat it. The last we saw - you had stocked up yams and cassava to last you a month

The was a lockdown but Manufacturers and farmers had a special pass to carry on manufacturing activities

We placed a sensible lockdown that ensured that we don't become food insecure or crumble manufacturing

Cedis depreciation took care of all that. Just update yourself - your economy right now is 55B dollars. Maybe you do yet another rebasing.

Since the beginning of the lockdown, the Cedi has only depreciated by 5%

Let me know after you finish dreaming and Astro projecting in your dreams

So how will Kenya pay that huge debt whose servicing is way above the export value of Kenya economy?

They never shy away from posting that monstrosity but ask for Accra proper and all the hobbits go quiet. At this juncture there is no point arguing with these pests.

5% is pretty good. I see you 1yr to date is -1% while kenya is -4%. So maybe this time round the won't be teeth gnashing.

shut up, old fool grin who are you to tell the royal people of Ghana what to do? grin madness runs in your family, I bet grin grin your women are cooking stones for their children and you are here spewing nonsense grin

Coronavirus: Kenyans moved by widow cooking stones for children

30 April 2020

Kenyans have rallied to the aid of a widow filmed cooking stones for her eight children to make them believe she was preparing food for them.

Peninah Bahati Kitsao, who lives in Mombasa, hoped they would fall asleep while they waited for their meal.

She used to wash laundry locally but such work is hard to come by now as people have restricted their interactions because of coronavirus.

A shocked neighbour, Prisca Momanyi, alerted the media to her plight.

What African governments are doing to help people eat amid the lockdowns
'I fear forced quarantine as much as coronavirus'

After being interviewed by Kenya's NTV, the widow has received money via mobile phone and through a bank account that was opened for her by Ms Momanyi, as the mother of eight does not know how to read and write.

Ms Kitsao, who lives in a two-bedroomed house without running water or electricity, has described the generosity as a "miracle".

rubbish talk from a stvpid, hungry kenyan cool when did Ghana's GDP drop? Fool grin

[s]
rvp20182:
Check USD - Cedis and update yourself. Your GDP has dropped by I think 15%. that is what happens when you do a copy-paste lockdown for a month- 1 month GDP is 10% off. That is why nominal GDP is the gold standard...the dollar is a pretty good predictor of the global economy.

Selected emerging economies ranked on four measures of financial strength

Our ranking is at 14, surpassing some of the major economies in Europe, South America, and Asia. Meanwhile, Kenya ranked at 42. Ghana is even worse when ranked at 48. cool cool cool cool cool
so S.A lags behind Uganda and Ghana??
I don't believe this source. grin

Sorry, but Obaboon kind of rhyme with a Zoogerian- and is very catchy. Obadeeremi sounds like wild vegetables in Kenya. You start insulting people calling them liars - when you cannot hold your ground.
Childish and pained as usual. Never knew calling you people out for your lies could hurt you this much. grin I want you to keep up with the name calling so you can continue showing your pain. But I won't degenerate to your abysmally childish level. wink
rvp20182:

I prefer clean conversation - so lets go with Oba.
Irrelevant. grin
rvp20182:

Now Oba - Yes Dangote refinery is big news. That will save you at least 10-18B dollars of forex. Lets hope Dangote doesn't play his games - where he takes the market - and jack up the prize. There is no doubt Dangote's wealth will grow - if he can manage to pay up the debts. I think he is now leveraged to the gills. One engineering mistake from the Indians and Chinese - could bring him down.
You need not worry about Dangote Refinery and fertilizer plant. Everyone sane knows they are game changers which as you agreed would save Nigeria billions of dollars. Now what's going to save Kenya such money? I need answers. grin
rvp20182:

Now when it comes to Tea & Economy - there is something in economics they call it MULTIPLIER. The manufacturing company has multiplier of 10. Oil industry like Nigeria maybe multiplier of 1 or zero. You don't need that many staff to ship out 100B dollars worth of oil.
Let me answer you with the world's biggest refinery which you already know about. It's also a petrochemical plant. Essential materials for industries will be produced at that refinery. Plastic industry for example will benefit greatly. You know there are few industries larger and more important than the plastic industry these days. That's going to be far larger than any multiplier effect from your puny tea industry. I've not even talked about petroleum jelly and lubricants which are huge industries also.
rvp20182:

Now our tea - provide income to 500,000 small scale tea holders - that is supported by about 100 tea factories - with so many trucks to get them to Mombasa - where is world biggest tea auction - and then they are exported (20% of all exports). We are still doing bulk sales - so hopefully we can move to higher-value chains...and really start selling branded tea all over the world.
This is small fry compared to oil and gas. Besides, our cocoa industry is almost as big as your tea industry. So that takes care of this line of argument from you. Some of Africa's largest cocoa processing companies already have big factories in lagos. Talk of Nestle and cadbury. Not to mention numerous small scale factories. Can you mention such global players in your tea industry? I am waiting.
Nigeria is far more developed economically than you know, boy.
rvp20182:

What you need are such industries...that is why Indonesia and Malaysia are making more money from Palm Oil than your OIL.
The same way India and Sri Lanka makes more money from tea than you do. grin
rvp20182:

Nigeria is backwater because you've allowed the economy to collapse save for Oil. Oil bring dollars but has very little multiplier...that explain why 140M Nigerians are very poor.

All of Africa is a backwater. But we know the biggest backwaters on the continent are in East Africa: Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia, etc.
You Are not only poor but starving seriously in biblical fashion. grin
Nigeria is Africa's largest economy. You don't call such a country a backwater. It has challenges but is still very important unlike your insignificant country with its tiny economy.
