What steps do I need to take if I want my child to eventually attend a Grammar School?

Where do you live if I may ask? Asking because the quantity and quality of Grammar Schools varies according to your locality. For example an Individual that resides in Kent has a wealth of choices compared to someone that stays in Reading or Devon. Simply put, if your Child is even averagely bright but lives in an area like Kent with Options, His /Her chances of attending a Grammar School is sky High. Just Make sure you have a good look at the School's policy though as some only recruit students from quite a narrow catchment area.

Also, Grammar Schools can be divided into three tiers which are
1) The Highly selective Grammar Schools
2)The Middle of the Road Grammar Schools
3)The Lower Tier ones not vastly different from your everyday comprehensives.

So as you can imagine, the steps you'll need to take to get into Tier 1 school would be absolutely different from what you need to take to get into Tier 3 one.

A quick question my people, please how much is the council tax average we are talking about? Never been to Kent, I stay in Hertfordshire I thought that was a much nicer place to live. I probably have to check Kent and it’s environs out as I am particularly interested in the options available for grammar schools.

Yes I do....my baby is just 8months so I still have time before then. I've been moving around a lot in london , i need a permanent place that i can live for at least 5 years ...

This is a general pandemic. Most staff working in the Airport travels from London.Also the Airport is the second busiest in UK. I know friends working over 40hrs weekly.

Are you saying it is easy to get a job at a badly hit Gatwick Airport at the height of this pandemic, or when it’s over (God knows how long it will take for a full recovery)?

For context, BA are already shutting down and moving out of Gatwick (and may never return) and Virgin are about to follow suit.

You probably should ask your friends how scared they are of losing their jobs right now, rather than giving false hopes to others.

PS: I am in no way discouraging anyone from looking for a job at Gatwick. I just don’t want anyone to be misled by the comment “you can easily get a job in Gatwick Airport”!

If u want rent this cheap and u don’t mind relocating outside London. Check up north like Liverpool or Manchester. Another option is West Midlands, Birmingham 3 bedroom large house with private parking in very good area is about 600-650 monthly

Personally, I will rather have a £10/hr job outside London than £13/hr in London.

If you believe the Pandemic won't be over then goodluck. I live in the area for over 5yrs and work there. If you believe BA, Virgin e.t.c are moving out of the Airport, that doesn't mean that the Airport won't require staffs again. Job loss will affect all areas in UK but still, rate of unemployment won't be as bad as other countries.

I'm not surprised at any fuckups done by this government since coronavirus turned up. The tories have regularly underfunded the NHS and the care/service industry for years. We've discussed it on this thread before.
And then this boris/cummings govt that got elected solely because of brexit? lol.

If yes can u please be kind enough to explain how? If no,what can/would u advice a 33year old lieutenant to do? I love the army (though ours has a lot of issues but Some of us just love the career)but leaving a woman with an 8 month old in another man land(I love my family to pieces) is another issue and I'd rather leave Nigerian army than be an absent father.

Kids have an 11+ examination to qualify for grammar school, if they are out by just 1 point, they do not qualify.

Sorry bro, your already way past the age to join. Secondly, commonwealth nationals can only join as soldiers not Officers. Try French Foreign Legion. You still have 6 more years to go.

Using myself as an example, i have 3 kids, all in grammar schools and they are all in the grammar schools that we choose.

So they really earn up to £55k?
I am about to make a decision and need to be sure it would be worth the money I plan investing in getting the 4 certificates needed

On the other hand, If He/She lives in my area(North London), His/Her options are quite limited and as a result quite competitive(first hand experience). So the advice I'd give to a Parent that lives in Kent would be vastly different from one that lives in my area.

It'll be well worth it in the end. It was either that or a Prep School and we all know which one of the two is considerably cheaper
