SA is in need of government bailout even before covid.

The cost of exercising any termination clause in such deal could send the buyers underground forever.
Termination clauses are their to protect makers / sellers / manufacturing yards!
Ever heard of Escrow account? - The monies could have been paid into the Escrow account and to be delivered to sellers / makers after delivery ex-yard.

Exactly, especially in Nigeria where there are only few lucrative routes due to low passengers load. So while ACMI, personnel cost and overhead costs not ever going to so down, revenues fluctuate like mad. Even after this whole COVID-19, the airlines in Nigeria will be needing stimulus to restart with especially 'C' and 'D' checks of many airplanes likely to be due.

It is not a business that state government should get into. More so as it adds no social benefits to the generality of Akaka Ibom people.
Well said. At the end of the day, they would be spending money that should be going into development of basic social infrastructures defending a failed at onset business idea, to the detriment of the people.

It's just a grand opportunity to launder money for them. They would never put their private money into projects like this.

I'm not focussing on the covid effect. No state in the country should be into that line of business.
We can look at local players before the covid effect, dana and arik. Where are they? Each time AMCON releases list of debt defaulters, they're to be remembered. Ethopia and kenya were also struggling before covid.

NORTHERN NIGERIA IS STILL DREAMING AND WAITING FOR FEDERAL ALLOCATION FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

Maybe they will wait much more longer for the federal ships that are held in Spanish Canary Island to be given permit to offload and sell their crude.

Is it not wise for the northern states to venture into Agricultures.

Many states in Nigeria can make headway from Agriculture but sheer laziness and corruption that is the factor that is hindering them.

Akwa Ibom is on the road map to economic diversification creating multiple streams of income for their economy.

Do you have an idea of the financial consequences of canceling the order? Hope you do not think it is like ordering for a bottle of groundnut and then later reject it because it looks burnt? Depending on the type of contract sign the state could even lose all the money, because the airline manufacturer or distributor fulfilled their terms and conditions.

It was just delivered
I wont use the word suffering, what akwa Ibom really needs is human capital development backed by solid key industrial infrastructure
They already have some key industries they should revive including

One of the largest aluminium smelters in the world
Abandoned paper mills and steel mills

What they need fast to create jobs include

Seaport
FTZ and industrial zone
Functional refinery and fertiliser plant
2nd Brewery
A standard beach resort at ibeno that can attract local and intl tourists
What they have so far

Champion breweries
Exxon Mobil
Syringe factory
RUSAL
Break pad manufacturers
Gas plant
500 mw power plant
Gas plants
Saipem
Shell
Flour mills
Coconut factory
So they still have a lot of work to do

go and check what a corked oil well is. I have a B.Sc in Petroleum Engineering. You may as well know that oron has over 15 corked wells 'I' have visited during Uni days. Don't be daft, seek knowledge. A well that produces gas is also called an oil well.

Imagine forming road blocks and task force in QIT, Akwa Ibom, and connecting roads to QIT all to extort, harass and intimidate. Annoyingly, de don't harass their govt or politicians, just oil workers...this nonsense should STOP!!!

Where is shell in akwa ibom?

While ExxonMobil is the major oil company operating in Aks,we have other oil companies drilling in Aks.

Odudu Field located in Aks waters is operated by Total.

Ebok ,okwok fields located offshore around Ibaka in Mbo local government area is operated by Oriental energy owned by the Indimis.


Antan field located 70km south off Calabar town is located in Aks and is operated by Addax a subsidiary of sinopec.


There are other smaller companies running marginal fields in Akwa Ibom such as Frontier,Universal and Network Energies,these companies drill but sells their crude through ExxonMobil.

What Akwa ibom is doing is very good. Very soon everyone flying Ibom Air will transit Uyo. Passengers will start spending the night and start getting to like the city. That's how Emirates made Dubai what it is today. They are trying to turn there city to a tourist destination like Miami. It will take time but with good governance, they will get there.

u can’t just cancel an aircraft order.. mind you this was not bought from the company directly and leaving it in Canada they will have to pay huge sum. Ferrying it down and keeping it in there hangar is the perfect thing to do.
