There is are lots of reforms going on - the actual construction on some sites have started - but ultimately Sonko has to go - so Uhuru can demolish old Nairobi County council housing and build skyscrappers - mass social housing.

The latest reform was to allow people to use their pension 40% of the pension to purchase houses. We have 12B dollars worth of contributory pension - so this could unlock potentially 5 billion dollars.

https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/markets/capital/State-offers-40pc-of-pension-savings-for-home-purchase/4259442-5543670-27mbroz/index.html

A typical Kenyan way! How to tap limited funds to meet a dire social need while providing employment for thousands? Look at pension funds. Others will self-service themselves silly pretending to be too rich for SUCH options while their national pensions look like Swaziland!
Truly, many of our policy guys are world class!

Name, price, commencement of construction, duration, estimate of finish date? We need the details to verify this is not a ruse.

I think it mostly insurance and pension funds - REITIS - and their gov. It very hard for them to understand for example kenya where it's ordinary folks who build everything.

They think building a house or a flat or estate is something that can only be done by property or real estate or gov or such kind of institution. In kenya - it's the opposite - buy a plot - and start building. Ours is informal - like opening dukars all over - there is more formal - like supermakets.

I hope they don't live in native reserves like my grandparents. Those native reserves were at edges of large white farm - and people were squeezed like sardines - in the hilliest or rocky infertile places - and all they did is to go and work the white man farm. The white man can be nasty.

I pray this is not the case - because if it is - then we need to help Azania as a matter of urgency.

Looks like Kenya "reserve" of the yore.

Look like Kenya native reserves of the 1960s- where one white man owns 100,000 acres of farmland - and Africans are squeezed on the edges - and are the Whiteman farm labor.

That's just pathetic. You can't always rely on government handouts. If I have some land and build my house am surely a land investor unless its some weird country.

Get THE land first - before you build slums in rural areas - don't be the proverbial cowboy without cows. Get the Boer land - and the build yourself a nice huge farmhouse in middle of HUGE FARM. Heck like in Kenya - you could get Boer's farm with the house on it.

You need to revolt. What you're calling rural - are African natives reserves.

You are making noise especially when 70% of Kenyans live in rural areas

And we know the shacks they live in

The difference is that these Kenyans are land investors. They have built homes and farms in their own land. The material of construction is inconsequential right now.
