Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde, has announced that schools in Oyo state may resume on July 15 despite increased in covid-19 patients.

Oyo state has so far recorded 29 cases which 20 are active as of the time of publishing this information.

Gov. Makinde, in his speak at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Oyo State branch, in Agodi, Ibadan, at a programme to mark this year’s Worker’s Day, announced the postponed second term will last for two weeks in July while the third term will kick off immediately.

This is the same day that the Presidential Task Force on the deadly virus gives suggestion that schools should remain shut down.

Gov. Makinde said the government suggest that school will reopen by July 15.

“I have a conversation with proprietor's of private school and the schools are all closed. Those Proprietors only have a means of paying the teachers they employed which is through the students school fees.

Now, the students are on lockdown, they have to convince the teachers to stay but no money to pay them. “My idea is, we need to make parents aware that this period, students are at home, we take it as their holiday. We have a suggestion date of July 15th. We are looking forward to be able to open the schools by July 15th and if we do that, they will complete the two weeks holiday of the second term and start the third term immediately. “This means no long holiday for the students anymore and they will promote to start the next (term),” he said.

It's now left to the parent that will allow his ward's to resume.

In a nutshell, this idīot wants to put the lives of other people's kids at risk, in order to satisfy school proprietors who are pressuring him about their own finances and the fact that they cannot pay their staff.

He's not asking that students resume cos of their need for education. But just so private schools can stay afloat and afford teachers salaries.??

Who Nigerian pry/sec education epp??

Unless a cure/vaccine is discovered, no reasonable parent should allow their kids back to school.

Besides, the school fees to pay teachers salaries, is it the parents who have bn on lockdown most likely without pay and even loss of job that will produce it?
