It'll be well worth it in the end. It was either that or a Prep School and we all know which one of the two is considerably cheaper grin

The fact that you are so deeply invested in your Kids education means the chances of any of them being Low achievers are slim to none. Keep at it. You won't regret it.

Pay them no mind grin.....They will all thank you in a few years time when they've all become High Fliers in their respective careers.

We have to try and offer our children, much better than our parents offered us.....

Hoping they offer their children, much higher than we offered them...... Hopefully, the chain would continue wink

Move to an area, with enough Grammar schools......

Would be too much pain for kids to have a 2 hours journey, either way.........

I know kids that attend from London......

London - Kent..... They wake up much earlier, get on the train, then one bus to school.......

True, not sure of this my area though. What about preparation did your kids attend a prep school or just tutoring? Not sure how it all works.

In my ahead, I see the grammar schools as a better version of Pro Unitate schools in Nigeria

The tutor's always came home......

Put your area in Google and do a grammar school check......

And before the main exams, some tutoring centres offer pre exam assessments (£90) per area..... They mark and show shortfalls etc etc

It's not in your head , it pretty much is. The both aim to educate the brightest of the bright in the society.

The slight difference being Grammar Schools were set up to help bridge the Gap between the Rich and Poor of the society whilst unity schools were set up to create an environment that would help foster the integration of the Various tribes in Nigeria.

The quality of education has seriously dropped in Nigerian secondary schools ( especially government owned) including unity schools and model schools.

Your sister coming out terribly does may or may not be due to this.

Not all seed that's been planted grow. Some are duds

If you disagree with the data emanating from China regarding Covid19, you will also disagree with the WHO data. The WHO has monitors in China who are there partly to understudy the chinese model for dealing with the virus, but mainly to ensure that the data from China is accurate and validated. Let's assume that the data from China and the WHO are both wrong, it still doesn't explain why data from other countries like South Korea, Germany, Italy, France etc actually mirror the chinese data in terms of disease spread, trajectory, mortality rate, importance of mass testing and mass lockdown procedures etc.

When China shutdown a lot of their cities to combat this virus at the early stages, a lot of countries slagged them off as a communist regime perpetuating draconian policies. The same countries have since adopted similar strategies to combat the virus.

We owe a lot to China on understanding how this virus works. The only reason the worldwide deathtoll isn't worse than it currently is is because China has been very open specifically regarding data on this virus. I could talk more on the relevance of the data from China, but let me rest here for now.

I disagree with China on a lot of things, but as an avid lover of public health science and epidemiology, China has been spot on on this specific issue.

You mentioned being a veteran of an airborne unit( I am a skylover myself in the Nigerian army). Please how can one move from the Nigerian army to the British army (I am a lieutenant and my wife is currently in the UK with a tier 2 visa). Thanks so much

Unfortunately, you cannot directly transfer into the British Army from the Nigerian Army. However, you are in a unique position as your wife has a Tier 2 visa, and I'm guessing you have a Tier 2 dependent visa. You can use your dependent visa to join the Army as a soldier, as you are ineligible to join as an Officer for now. You can get commissioned to Officer cadre and attend Sandhurst after serving a few years as a soldier and showing strong leadership skills. If all else fails and you cannot join the regular army, you can always join the reserve airborne units. Reservist means that you will be a part-time soldier whilst working a normal civilian job.

This is something you have to think about very carefully as you will be leaving an Officer cadre in the Nigerian Army to join the BA as a soldier, not everyone will fancy it as it looks like a career demotion. It might take you up to 5 years to get an Officer commission to Sandhurst if you are lucky, but it's not impossible. Good luck.

Airborne!

God bless the skylover,Death from above, even the birds are jealous cos on that day the devil himself screamed AIRBORNE(You mentioned being an airborne regiment vet). I really need clarification, can an army officer from Nigeria whose wife owns a tier 2 visa in the UK join the British armed forces? If yes can u please be kind enough to explain how? If no,what can/would u advice a 33year old lieutenant to do? I love the army (I am a infantry man THROUGH AND THROUGH though ours has a lot of issues but Some of us just love the career)but leaving a woman with an 8 month old in another man land(I love my family to pieces) is another issue and I'd rather leave Nigerian army than be an absent father.
