Wike is not wicked. There must be consequences for bad behavior. Anyone who flouts the laws should be punished.

Thank You, no mind these cretins wey dey talk nonsense. Inasmuch as I don't like the lockdown that much, certain directives must be in place to curtail the spread of Co-vid19, cause the virus is on a high rise.

He has no legal backing and constitutional right to demolish the hotels for flouting the lockdown rules. It is abuse of power!

You either sue or fine with legal conditions.

Were this to be buhari doing this the people praising wike right now would have screamed blue murder.I'm certain every one here has flouted one lockdown rule or another.
He's action still is illegal, and he will clearly loose out when he gets sued.At the end of the day it's with Rivers State money the hotel will be rebuilt with. There are other ways of appropriately meting out a punishment.

"He's action still is illegal, and he will clearly loose out when he gets sued" He is the Executive Governor of the state he has the right to enforce judgement to those who flouted the laws of the state. I'm with wike on this.

why not just shut-down the hotel instead of demolishing. Then make them pay heavy fines to reopen when covid pandemic is finally dealt with. It shouldn't just be about yielding political power with ur big head & stomach, pls think economic & environmental impact also.

The above is not the problem with Wike. I feel it is in times like this, that we need those who can wield and exercise their power. We are in very desperate times and no more than in desperate time are desperate measures needed. In some States, Dangote trucks are used to import the viruses. We must be watchful and pray for a governor like Wike. If we had him as president, he'd stopped the virus from flying in. If the south west had him, they'd shut all the exits from Lagos and probably have lesser cases... Wike is signalling to the powerful and those held high, that the life of his people matter; and it would not be traded as is done in Kano and other states, for the economic benefit of a certain few.

That's how it starts, very soon he will start arresting people with court order, then he becomes a full blown tyrant. Na small small bush dey take turn forest.

Never support a tyrant they get worse with time.

Be careful what you wish for sir, this to me is a violation of human rights, everyone is entitled to a fair hearing, if one man holds all the power in a state where he is the accuser, judge, punisher and executioner, then it's no longer democracy

No state deserves a tyranny government

This is illiteracy and insensitivity on the part of the governor. Wike announced a lockdown on just two LGAs being Obio-Akpor and Port Harcourt LGAs and these hotels are in Eleme LGA not in either of the locked down LGAs so if this is not a personal vendetta, why would he do this? This man is getting stranger by the day; he needs to change his medication ASAP.

I see some Nigerian's condemning his actions. I don't understand, what is wrong with you people, wetin Una want exactly. Cause insofar as government is concerned or law is concerned, the governor of a state gave and announced an order backed by sanctions which he painstakingly noted out too. People obeyed, but some people consciously flouted the order, now he punishes them according to the aforementioned order he gave, and you guys are condemning him?? Did the citizens who obeyed his directives have two heads ??.
What is law or order if it is not backed by sanctions?
The guy is just trying to protect his state jare

It is you that is not getting it. No one is saying that defaulters should not be punished. However, punishment should be commensurate.

Consider this, if you, realvikash, were driving your SUV and you accidentally flouted the traffic light rules, would you maintain this your opinion if FRSC were to seize your car and physically destroy it completely?

Should the punishment for slander or libel or even fraudulent acts be the death sentence? Cos that's pretty much what Wike is doing.

Is that what the law says should happen in this circumstance??

Think about the general repercussions of the decision to demolish a well established business.

There are better sanctions that would serve as deterrence, please

Don't u think lock down in just some selected states is kind of useless, for example ogun state is on lock down but Lagos is not, after the lock down at ogun, people will still move from Lagos to ogun thereby carrying the virus back to ogun. Doesn't that kills the motive of the lock down
how will they move the virus to ogun from lagos when they can't get into ogun due to the border lockdown

Just like Buhari, Wike can as well disobey court orders should he be sued and loses.

State security supersedes the Rule of Law nah.

No biggie!

Why demolish?! undecided
This is counter-productive. Money was spent to build, money will be spent to demolish.
Why not convert to something useful.

I dont blame you if it were to be your hotel you won't be saying such. Demolish a business because they did not obey a law. Really ? And you are praising him for that. Then Rivers is not different from North Korea. Do you see why our old politicians are still the best..... imagine Wike as president.... you know the rest of the story

No, that's not what he's doing. As far as he gave a directive before it happened, that's a big difference. Nigerians normally no dey hear word. They like flouting orders. So this punishments will serve as deterrents to future defaulters
