Most of you guys blaming Ehtiopia are not putting a few things into consideration:

1) Somalia is a war zone and the actors like Al Shabab terrorists, not different from Nigeria's Boko haram. They will kill and mass-kill, using any method they can lay their hands on.

2) If a Suicide bomber is approaching your Church or Mosque or Army base, will you have time to "ask questions" like what do you have under that your Hijab or that rickety Honda car that is approaching us so fast OR you will just shoot and blow it up before it does damage?

In a war zone where terorrist group like Al Shabab have used suicide bombs to kill many people, when you see ANYTHING MOVING in a manner that poses serious danger to you and many others (imagine a strange plane loaded with bombs and flying low, ready to drop on a settlement being protected by the Ethipian soldiers?),
where is the time to start saying 'alpha one, you are too close to us and what is your mission, please stop or we might blow you up'?

You blow the darn thing off the air and ask questions later! RIP to the dead though, itis really unfortunate.

The guilty ones in this unfortunate incident is the Kenyan side who are supposed to have informed their Ethiopian counterpart that "we are flying in a plane with i.d x,y,z, identification, at so-so time on xyz cordinates flight path".
Also, the Pilot should have maintained radio communication with the Ehtiopian ground forces who are protecting that settlement they flew over an dmaintained the known and agreed course/direction.

It is simply a case of human negligence on the part of the Pilot and kenyan forces, the Ethiopians did what they needed to do and what anyone in their position will do, under same circumstances.
It is unfortunate that innocent lives have to be lost in such an unnecessary manner.

Remember that Iran also shot down an Ukranian plane that was flying in the air space aroind Iran, when they were having this small skirmishes with USA, when the latter used a drone to murder their Army General Souleiman or what is his name sef?

There's no mistake here. Firstly, Somalia and Kenya is known for home of terrorists in Africa. Secondly, Ethiopian armed forces is considered one of the best in Africa. Or better still ask the pilot to identify himself through the radio as long as the plane is in their airspace they can contact the pilot instantly through the radio and tell him to land or turn back ....

baba...b4 u shoot down any aircraft or vessel in ur airspace or water ways...u 1st of all check if it's a cargo jet or a fighter jet..
Then u contact the pilot or captain in the vessel as last long as they are in ur airspace or water way ...u should be able to communicate with the pilot via the radio..ask they to identify themselves and their route..it that fails then give a warning if they ignore then u shoot them down.. simple..
Even if it's a fighter jets u still have to tell the pilot to turn back or land or risk being shot down..
That's how civilized country handle such things... they just don't shoot any unidentified aircraft or vessel...they try to indentify and give warning b4 they shoot

Blame all around. Carrying medical supplies doesn't matter...... why would Keyna enter another country's airspace without permission? If they did... then it would be Ethiopia's fault not to inform its military or the others about the flight path of the plane. The Ethiopian military excuse is also lame..... shouldn't the first thought of an unusually low flying plane be the plane is in distress?
